I rewatched the entire Northern Exposure series during lockdown last summer. It helped keep me sane. Many of the episodes dealt with themes of isolation and loneliness. It handled those topics philosophically and humorously.

I agree. The only re-boot I would support would be with new characters, not digging up the old characters from 30 years ago. Have new characters but maybe have the old characters referred to or even make guest appearances. Like have Joel show up in Cecily for one week to school the new "Joel" in how to survive in Cicily.

I can't understand why it's so hard for them to bring back and reboot the series. Anyone of these media companies can pick it up, if you see the total garbage that's on them now. But, maybe that's the problem Northern Exposure had a thinkers mentality and was full of literate sub-texts. Today, people are just not into introspection and moments of deeper meaning.

Northern Exposure was a great show. She was perfect in that roll. It’s too bad that CBS got discouraged by the quitting of Rob Morrow. A serious blunder on his part. The network didn’t realize that cast was so big and developed, that it could have survived without Morrow. I seem to recall that the broadcast days and time was changed as well. That should never happen when you lose a major character. The replacement doctor was ok, but the recipe for failure was already in progress. She is a wonderful actress. If they bring the show back, she would be a great addition to the cast.

I always have felt Rob was the least of the key cast. The premise was stated early in the series when Maggie said- “ if you leave, Maurice will just go buy another doctor.” I think the writers just ran out of gas.
@brentstantonfun3 жыл бұрын
Lol. The two leads on NoEx hates each other. Lol. Yes, I was there. I worked on the series. Rob came from NY theater, and Jeanine came from Tx Beauty pageants. Rob would show up knowing all his lines for the day, and Jeanine would arrive two hours late not having a clue as to what the episode was about. Lol. One episode I remember in particular, the producers met her at her trailer when she finally showed up, and talked to her. The producers went back inside and she got back in her car and drove off! The producers came on the radio and said not to worry. That’s because another young actor suddenly showed up, who was a new “bush pilot” and they gave her All of Jeanine’s lines only changing her name. Since then, I’ve worked with others who worked with her, and heard more on set stories. How she was fired off of strong medicine. Her own series, by the producers that hired her for similar reasons. As stunning a looker as she was, she was also a train wreck and the crew grew to loath the hours of wasted time we would have to endure when she was “working”.

I buy this 100%. Her lack of professionalism is apparent when you watch the deleted scenes on the DVD. She is lovely but was helped enormously by good actors (like Morrow), patient producers and skillful editing. I feel for Morrow. I'm an actor myself. People like her would drive me crazy on set or on stage. There are LOADS of gorgeous people in the world with actual acting skill and training. Why not hire them instead of someone without the necessary chops?

It’s still the only one I actually went out and purchased in its entirety on DVD (still not available to stream anywhere apparently) So well written, such great characters and with a wonderful, sometimes mystical atmosphere about it. And Janine Turner at the time was the bomb! I was crushing on her so hard 😆 yet, except for a few diehard fans, it seems to have almost been completely forgotten…one of the best TV shows ever made. That just beggars belief 🤷♂️ such a gorgeous thumbnail of her used for this video too.

I remember how much I loved this show! I still, on occasion, watch re-runs of it on DVD. But one thing that annoys me is the DVD set I have excludes about 2 episodes (after the pilot) of the 1st season and some of the episodes on the other discs are out of order for some reason. Somebody goofed the set up a little. But anyways, I don't see re-runs of this series anymore on TV and you can't find it streaming anywhere either. I wish Netflix, or Tubi, or Pluto would consider putting it on their line-ups. It sure would be nice. I really miss this show so bad. What's even sadder is if they did a re-boot now, some of the great supporting actors on the show are either dead or pretty old and may not have interest. But then again, maybe if they could bring back the old formula and bring in some new, believable characters, and bring back Mrs. Turner, along with remaining actors who are still alive and in good health, it might could work. But using what some of these other re-boots use might not be good enough. There has to be some kind of spark and vitality to make it work like it use to. I guess, time will tell if they ever will.

I sadly do not think a reboot would work since one of the producers passed away. However, to attempt, or even consider to attempt to make it work, you would need all the original writers and the magic that made the pilot through the first 4 seasons. I don't think you would need all the characters back, necessarily, just ones really committed to the magic of making it work. Then and only then could it happen.

I remember her doing ads for a local Radio Station in my area (WAAF, I think) after NE was cancelled! Would Definitely give a re-boot a chance! & Hope as many of the original cast members as possible would be on board!

I still have the entire series on VHS, LOL guess I'm aging myself. Ali streaming channels I constantly check to see if any of them are streaming it. So surprised how so many of my acquaintances haven't ever even heard of it. you And they asked me where they can check it out. I think and laughed to myself. Will this person get it. And not being conceited so many times I have to tell them that right out that they just wouldn't get.

Aside from her passion in conservative politics and religion, I could only say her characters in those episodes was outstanding. However, that is 180 degree opposite of her real life that is exposed in front of all audience. I'm not sure if I would be loving her characters as much in the reboot of the show again if it ever happens. The reason, an independent and women's rights representation of her in the TV series no more. I'm just being honest, and it's pure my very own opinion, and you don't have to agree.

Janine was the most beautiful woman on television. And it was great to find out that she wasn’t the loony leftist that she played as Maggie. And it’s wonderful to find out she is a sister in Christ.

Its funny to think of her character as a "loony leftist" when she was really just a strong, self assured woman, a feminist, with a multitude of practical, mechanical, and leadership skills making her her own boss, dependent on no one, and a leader in the community, as well as respected in the community for her self-reliance.

I loved everything about Janine Turner until I found out in this video that "she is a regular on Fox news", which is the most lying, propagandist channel in America. I have no problem with her embracing religion as long as it is the pure form of Christianity which is about love and forgiveness and not about judging others. And her character Maggie O'Connell would never embrace or support someone like Trump, so I hope she hasn't gone down that dark path.

I liked NE the first few seasons and then it just got weird. I don't know if they had different writers then??? I'm just rolling my eyes at your last sentence: "And her character Maggie O'Connell would never embrace or support someone like Trump, so I hope she hasn't gone down that dark path." You do know that Maggie O is fiction right? And that Janine T is an actress who merely 'played' the part of Maggie.
@Stingball228 ай бұрын
@@66limelight Yes, I do know that dummy. In my comment, I was clearly making a distinction between the actress and the character she played and was noting that the wonderful character she played would never support some of the things that this actress MAY support, based on this video. I am sorry that you apparently have a hard time understanding a comment for what it is, and instead choose to project some things on it that it is not. But if you are a brain-dead Trumper and Fox News viewer, that would explain everything.

Have to disagree. When Morrow left, the show headed south withe the new cast. The first 5 seasons were the best, and the 6th until Morrow departed.
