It may hard to believe for people who didn’t go to movies in the 1990s, but Steven Seagal was once one of the biggest movie stars in the world. He wasn’t much of an actor, but viewers went to his movies to see him beat up bad guys, and that was one thing that he did well.

I've always been a fan. Regardless of his personal life (whatever it is or has been), what I like about his films is that he beats the crap out of the bad guys. They never really get the best of him. Segal is in his mid 60's. He's gained a lot of weight. I saw him three months ago in NYC. He's pushing well over 300 lbs. Evan at 6 ft 3 or 4 that's a lot of weight. His skin looked bad and his hair looked dyed. Not the Segal I used to see many years ago. Sad.

I agree. It just hard to pass somebody off as a martial artist when their weight is that out of control. Look at that stomach. What happened? Martial arts is not just fighting. It's physical, mental and spiritual. It's almost like he had a disorder to cause him to blow up like that. tropickman makes a good point though. Muhammad Ali said MAN!, I try to lose weight. I run, I do sit ups, I jump rope, I do all kinds of exercise but it won't go away. It definitely gets tougher as you get older. And Muhammad still looked good. He just wasn't the lean mean fighting machine he was when he was younger.

I've been a fan of him since all the best ones, Above The Law, Marked for Death, Out for Justice, Under Siege, On Deadly Ground, The Glimmerman, Fire Down Below. Then I bought a couple of his DVDs on a supermarket shelf here and there, seeing stunt doubles for fight scenes or just a conversation with another showing just the back of "his" head with the pony tail, my girlfriend said "wtf" couldn't believe it either when you could see it wasn't him. FYI: Late 193os early 2000 I was the Range Clerk with the Orange County Sheriff's Department Orange County CA (Had been a Reserve Deputy ret). Story in media & depth Sagal was coming "on board" with dept as was going to do unarmed training of deputies. Then story had him only wanting to do the "training" in LA area, on his property...don't know what happened but deal fell apart..very weird
