Despite Edgar's scattered instrumental talents and associations it was Dan Hartman who caught my ear. Free Ride, Autumn,Round & Round,Instant Replay and I Can Dream About You..."They Only Come Out At Night" is in my top 25 albums list.Other than the radio smashes the rest of the album is a mix of feels, multi-talents and styles. And it sounds really great!

Everybody that played in The Edgar Winter Group were great musicians. Dan Hartman brought great vocals and some great songs to the band. He later went on to write and produce a lot of Dance music and more Pop oriented music.

Dan Hartman was my all time rock hero when younger, equal to Rick. I noticed that his penned songs just stood out with brilliance. I want his "white album" released before i die! I'm now 68yrs and still praying for it.

They Only Come Out at Night was the first album I bought at the age of 15 in the UK, I literally wore it out, then bought the cassette version and wore that out too. I managed to see Edgar and Johnny at separate times in Houston. Terrific musicians.

I was fortunate to catch Edgar and Johnny in concert at the Richmond Coliseum after Frankenstein was released. The opener was Don McLean and he started singing and was immediately booed off stage and he yelled into the mic the he was "Never coming back to Richmond". The Winter Brothers did not disappoint and gave a real tight show. Great music from that era.

Saw EWG on UK television “Old Grey Whistle Test” playing a set that finished with “Frankenstein”. The performance was pure energy, with the whole band seeming to enjoy their first exposure on British TV. Bob Harris, the show’s presenter, who would usually talk after the band finished, was almost speechless, his only comment “amazing”. Praise indeed.

Added detail: Blue Sky records was owned by Steve Paul, one-time owner of the Scene Club in NYC, later manager of Johnny, Edgar, and many other acts. The label issued two great albums by Muddy Waters, one by Howlin' Wolf, two by David Johansen, and a few other nice choices. Great video. Thanks!

Was hoping to see Jerry Weems mentioned. He's the guy who played with them on Frankenstein on the Midnight Special clip you can find on KZbin. According to an interview with Chuck, Jerry was AWOL from the Army National Guard the entire time he was on tour. The army caught up with him at an airport one day while the group was on tour and threw him in solitary. No one from the band knew where he was for two weeks.

Bobby Rimarez was the drummer in Edgar Winter’s white Trash, he was murdered outside a night club in Chicago in 1972, a tragic loss, he was of Mexican decent but so were his two attackers, apparently they took offence to his long hair. Bobby joined the band LaCroix with fellow ex-white trash musician, singer Jerry LaCroix, check out the album LaCroix it has that same White Trash vibe.

White Trash took on the elements of the Gulf Coast roadhouse sound, gritty soul and blues dance music. All the musicians were veterans of the Golden Triangle area, and their music defined the '60's & early '70's in coastal Texas and Louisiana. The "White Trash" studio album, featuring Jerry LaCroix's growling, heavily gospel influenced vocals, was a classic in its genre and an all-time great album. There is a cameo by Johnny in "I've Got News for You", and by Rick Derringer in "Keep Playing that Rock and Roll."

Ya got it wrong about Edgar a Child Prodigy, his mother was a pianist who taught him how to play the keyboard. His brother Johnny helped him to get a contract with Epic Records in New York. His hit song Keep Playing That Rock and Roll lyrics explains on his album They Only Come Out At Night along with his classic hits Frankenstein and Free Ride. In 1975 they're last album as a group was The Edgar Winter Group with Rick Derringer recorded on Blue sky Records, with slumping sales of that album and Jasmine Night dream's it was then when the band broke up, it was a mutual agreement everyone wanted to pursue other projects, but their last live concert was in San Diego, Ca titled Edgar and Johnny Winter Live in the year of 1976.

Good video, but an incomplete history of the group. No mention of JERRY WEEMS at all. Even though you show him in the video more than once.He replaced Ronnie Montrose. He went on tour and performed in the concerts supporting the album. Got busted at the airport for being AWOL. He performed on the Midnight Special shortly after being released from jail for being AWOL, that's why his hair is so short on the video. He also wrote the guitar solo for FREE RIDE, even though he wasnt in the group at the time.one of their biggest hits. He was a childhood freind of drummer Chuck Ruff. After leaving the EWG he played on Ian Hunters album, and was in Bonaroo. An excellent guitarist and singer he needs to be included, mentioned, and remembered. Please update and include him, check him out in the videos, usually wears white pants, plays white Gibson. Often mistaken for Ronnie Montrose Please include him, thanks.

Rick Derringer had early success with the Mccoys, Johnny winter's "and" studio and live records. Rick refered to himself as the mickey rooney of rock, quite a sense of humor. rock and roll hoochie coo with Johnny Winter's and was a huge hit sang by Johnny, covered many times, giving Rick freedom to start his own label with musicians he worked with ala frank zappa. I've watched 3 year olds rocking to " great balls of fire", the And live record. I saw edgar with dan hartman doing Frankenstein, a big hit. Hartman could play. Johnny got great guitar players. Ringo's all star band could cover several videos. Edgar was working with L. Ron doing music for his 10 volume sci fi epic in the 80's. he became a christian after scientology was the rumor. Edgar is an interesting human along with Johnny. He probably plays guitar.
