Great Video! You mentioned that you carry a spare lens. Are you able to fit your camera + main lens + spare lens? Because on your B-Roll you only show one lens and the body. I am asking about your workflow, do you get on location, build the rig and then fill the sling so you have your setup on hand + sling full? Or you just fit everything in the sling from the start? Thanks :)

The only issue with the tx660 on the mic that I've found is when you get someone part way through their speech insist they don't need the microphone and place it down 🤦 I always make sure to have a back up on them as well
@WaywardNorth2 ай бұрын
Yes solid point - you can never anticipate those moments happening and in those situations its best to think ahead and mic everyone up separately. Generally, I always have 3 audio sources rolling at all times but the last few weddings Ive gotten better at communicating my needs to the toasters as well so they know what to do and thats worked well so far until of course it doesnt just one time lol

Do you miss having your record button on your cage handle? I just got the rhinoceros cage with the wooden handle you recommended but now I’m reconsidering!
@WaywardNorth2 ай бұрын
Yes and no - the wooden grip with the remote button is SO NICE. But its a much easier navigation than the previous cage and you can set your shutter button to record so it's not really an issue any more ;)

Here’s another tip for capturing hq audio! I wrap a black elastic band on my dji mic on the microphone they are using as back up!
@paulgero3 ай бұрын
Have you considered forgoing the TX660 and just using the DJI Mic 2 with an elastic mike sleeve? The benefits are 32 bit float, and you can monitor the signal and control levels from your position with the receiver even if you're not recording into the camera. I used to use the Sony but lately have been thrilled with the results from the DJI Mic 2. Just a thought...Great video as always...
@WaywardNorth3 ай бұрын
The only thing I don't want to risk is audio interference with the DJI Mic attached to the DJs mic. I know they also record internally so thats an idea. But the Sony is slim and more discreet. I do agree the audio would probably be better on the DJI but its the aesthetics for me. Great thoughts for sure! Appreciate you!
@kowalskivideos64763 ай бұрын
@@WaywardNorththis is a great point. There’s many times where the signal can cause issues with the Dj’s transmission and it throws off the speeches which is what we don’t want

Great little kit!! And I know exactly what you mean with micing the bride. That thigh strap is kinda starting to feel too intrusive. I wish there was an easier way to do it. Maybe slipping the mic pack down the back of the dress so it’s just pressure fit there, and then taping the mic to the inside of the dress 🤷🏻♂️

@@JoshBirman Let’s invent a Flower mic. A flower that fits in the brides bouquet 💐 it would only be helpful if the bride held her flowers all day and usually she gives them to the maid of honor so that idea is useless lol let’s brainstorm! I hate the thigh strap 😭

@@jackpatmoreinc I have the DJI Mic 2 after having the Rode Go II....while I believe the Rode sounds better (and you can even hear the richer sound on you tube videos), the convenience of the DJI wins out for me. From the charger case, to the quickness of the magnets and the smaller size, the DJI Mic 2 has become my new favorite way to record backup speeches audio at weddings (attached to the venue's mikes via elastic strap).

Sometimes the most useful aspect of a video is realizing, "Yeah, others can have that role, I'll pass." Here, I'll stick with photos. Having to set up a semi-high quality audio-video, stationary, setup for video conferencing and recording talking head style videos just of myself was challenging enough. 😂
