Hey Hif-Fri, love your channel! I just got pair of these, and I was putting the 2 pin connector in and pushing a little sideways.....what's your take on the durability of the 2-pin connector on this IEM? Will pushing the pins a little crooked mess with them, in your opinion?

whats shocking to me is how messily glued (or resin-ed? idk) the insides look compared to the exterior. (yes ik it doesn't have to be pretty to work) its like "I paid how much for that hunk of drivers and a pcb with resin/glue globbed over it?"

Hey just wondering, my s12 came apart and I used cyanoacrylate glue to stick it back together but I must've made the mistake of using a bit too much glue and letting it dry up for a few seconds like with some other types of glue (which I shouldn't have done). Now the gap between the faceplate and the shell is ever so slightly wider than before. Haven't noticed any difference in sound so far but, for future reference, is that seal very important for sound leakage prevention? Cheers
@hi-friaudioman
@hi-friaudioman Жыл бұрын
Hi, not on that model from what I know. It's actually petty rare that the seal is important. So I think you're good. :-)

@@hi-friaudioman Yeah, upon some closer auditory inspection I figured as much. Not sure what the area between the driver and the nozzle looks like so I got kinda worried. It happened while I was watching the teardown so I figured I'd ask but I think it's all good now. Thanks for the reply!

I recently changed the stock cables of my Performer5, but didn't knew at first which was their correct polarity and ended up connecting them backwards (as in - and + inverted). You can see in this video that there's capacitors and resistances in there, do you think the inner components might have been damaged when I connected the cable in the wrong polarity? I heard no issues after correcting the polarity.

I really appreciate your video. How would you rate the P5 overall construction? Can you determine what type of 8 mm dynamic driver is utilized? Is it beryllium plated? Titanium plated? Carbon? Good quality? Are the BAs & crossover board high quality? Almost all other IEMs specify and brag about the DD and brand name BAs. Knowles RAD? Thanks.
@hi-friaudioman
@hi-friaudioman Жыл бұрын
Hey the quality is fine, it's probably on par with any truthear or softears printed IEM. The drivers are on the cheaper side but it's a budget. For $200 you're definitely not getting Knowles. Most likely they're E-audio or bellsing and the DD is a $2/3 DD.
@hi-friaudioman
@hi-friaudioman Жыл бұрын
The acoustic design and crossover are extremely high quality. Something you don't often see in $200 iem's.

@34:18 You (picking at resin): This is awful ( Ò ‸ Ó) Me (facing a second monitor and _immediately_ snapping my eyes to this video on the other monitor): ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) I'm currently wearing a pair of these that I stumbled upon as open box for around $42. I had never heard of them and had to look them up. For their retail price, ALL my alarms went off with such a low asking price, but I finally snagged them since the site at least has buyer protection if something was messed up. Most expensive IEMs I've purchased so far were the first ones I ever bought, being a set of FiiO/Jade Audio JH3 (I feel they're a heck of a starting place for the hobby given balance of tech and quality of build/sound/accessories, but it was like they never existed to major reviewers.). Anyway, they were initially disappointing because there wasn't much of a difference in sound quality that I could hear, and the bass was nowhere to be found. I had this weird reaction of trying to decide if they were somehow faulty, or if I was _(gulp)_ some hearing normie that just wasn't able to perceive what HiFi could offer despite a personal affinity for attention to detail in acoustics for everything from movies to material interaction to car/mechanical maintenance. So I put them away for a day or two before trying a 48hr burn-in: nothing. Ok, it's a loss, I guess. I guess I'll keep them for the cable. A couple more days go by and I find my ADHD going balls to the wall with tip roulette for the first time, getting some noticeable improvement in balance and soundfield for most IEMs in my collection. I remember the Afuls and heave a sigh as I pull them out, beginning a tedious process of swaps and listens. Of everything, a set of Spring Tips at least feel like they're making a good seal, but the sound didn't really improve. I almost gave up until I remembered that I had some random set of TRI Clarion tips I purchased from Amazon, didn't like on the JH3, and sitting in a pill bottle somewhere. I rummaged around for a minute or two before finding them and slipping them on the Afuls. They didn't blow me away, but the fit was solid like the Sprint Tips, but there was now a noticeable amount of bass and I guess a sensation of "smoothness" throughout the mids? It's hard to describe. Treble sounded the same, which was inoffensive to my sensitive ears. Soundstage is decently wide, which made for a lot of fun in the video where you unbox the Performer5, being able to just about *feel* you frequently move and turn towards your bird as they defiantly renounced capitalism, hahaha. They're not the most comfortable to wear for long periods, and the bass is kind of hit or miss depending on the song, but it's a welcome conclusion despite a sour notion of what the experience implies. Like, YEAH, I'm glad I was able to discover a way to enjoy these after the initial letdown, but it took the completely random chance of finding a set of stupid eartips that _just happen_ to compliment not only the unit's EQ, but the acoustic engineering/design of these (to most) expensive IEMs to get a satisfactory sound from them. The thought of that being a potential hurdle of other sets along the path of this hobby is kind of discouraging to me. I know all this rambling story is ENTIRELY unasked for and likely going to be avoided by anyone seeing the wall of text, but it's 4:30am and my attention span is holding me hostage until it's satisfied I've hit a minimum novella wordcount. My apologies for ALL these words. Hey, alright! It actually looks like I'm just about to hit that count in three, two-

You're good, well at least you got them at a steal. I haven't heard them in a while but I've found that when buying a new Iem it's very important to consider which iem you're coming from. For example going from my Aphex which is my daily driver, to a hybrid or all BA or planar is just awful. my ears have fully become accustomed to the CNT timbre of the DD, and anything else sounds extremely unnatural, even though my Aphex does not really sound natural, a single DD is much more natural and cohesive than any BA, Hybrid, etc. The AFUL definitely has its flaws, but overall I think still a good value considering the tech that's inside despite the sound not being the best. I think the performer 5 biggest downfall is the use of cheaper drivers. If they used slightly more expensive drivers or changed up the drivers a little bit I think it would sound much better. The mid drivers are fine, if a little soft, but the treble drivers have a good amount of BA timbre and the bass is totally average. If they picked a slightly better DD I think it would be a slightly different story.
