I feel like lorewise the erdtree is more like the weirwoods but more active. They grant an afterlife to their followers through a tyrannical exchange (the northmen used to sacrifice people, the erdtree worshippers became brutal fascistic fundamentalists). It belies a great power beyond humam understanding and is ancient beyond recognition. The trees themselves percieve time differently. I hope one day someone puts on the tinfoil hat n looks at possible connections w n lore implications for martins work

🤘 George's work is all through elden ring, loads of his sci-fi writing was used. He writes about malevolent hivemind entities that fool people into sacrificing themselves and their children through endless war in exchange for the idea of an afterlife etc. Pretty sure the snowwitch who taught Ranni if a reference to one of his short stories Bitterblooms.

That would require Martin finishing the books, and most of the books have given up hope on that. We can't use the show as a solid reference because Martin gave up a lot of creative control, especially after the show passed what the books covered. Even the early seasons had tons of changes. Not saying that we can't theorize that, but assuming it is a just a sentient suit and that the npc underneath (which was made with details) is just for gameplay purposes, is nothing more than assumptions. Since it was mentioned, there is a fantastic Berserk "summary" series being done by a channel called Thealmightyloli, its a passion project for the guy as he goes beat by beat recounting the series from the beginning to the end. He just released a combined video of all the parts but it is absolutely massive as he goes decently into detail to help describe whats going on. Fair warning, even the singular parts are very long with the current combined video sitting at just shy of 18 hours, but if you want a near perfect detail recounting of all of Berserk then this is it. Just thought I should throw that out there for anyone looking to understand or refresh themselves on the story of Berserk. Anyway, excellent video as always, keep up the good work.

I figured Ensha is a lord hunter and his armor is basically trophy armor proving hes killed golden lineage lords. If Gideon doesn't want anyone to be elden lord, it sort of makes sense if he tasked someone with picking off Godfreys descendants. We dont know what Gideon was up to pre banishment, but it seems he had some sort of following. I dont think you're supposed to read into ensha so much, just that hes loyal to gideon and he has killed lords and hes capable of killing you.

Your content is perfect, your humour is perfect, your cadence and delivery are perfect and the lore is both deep but open enough. I was addicted since the first video I saw and I spam the reload button to see when you upload more. RE. Skull Knight - it is stated that he bled his last drop of blood into the berserker armour. The armour keeps you fighting but it damages your body while it does so, like protruding spikes through your body when your bones break and drinking your blood when you bleed. Now it is implied that he died, but I think it means something slightly different. His normal human body could no longer live without the armour, but he was not yet actually dead. I think his less than living body/spirit was bound to the new armour that he has and it similarly sustains him, but the new armour lacks the old ones menacing spirit that threatens to take over. I do not think that what dwells in the armour is some leftover of Skully, his rage, rather his spirit was consumed by the rage that naturally dwells in the berserker armour and it rubbed off on him. Or to live in his new armour he needed a binding power strong enough to remain on "this side" so it is his rage against void, his betrayer that keeps him going. It is said there is something "elf-like" in Skully. Maybe the magic that binds him in place is similar to the elves, OR that it was elf magic that bound him in his current state to remain on this side. Come to think of it he seems to appear at opportune times, almost like he only exists when he is able to fight the God Hand and their servants. In the latest chapter it was implied that he was consumed on some level by his hatred of the GH and what remains of him is his will to fight them, he has become a monster to fight monsters and he is urging Guts not to make the same choice. Guts' girl was saved although she lost her mind, whereas Skully lost his girl and she reincarnated into the Fairy Queen (it's the same person not her daughter, fight me!) Oops, I wrote you an essay, anyway take the beginning of my comment and skip the rest, TL;DR Skull Knight is weird and complex.

I don’t know enough about programming to know how easy or not it would be to just make the armor move. If you want to say it’s not for gameplay convenience you have to apply that to everything else, for example, is Miquel just a hand if there’s no physical body inside the egg?

You know who else is soulless? Boc, after his rebirth. I was just watching a vid about Boc's quest walkthrough and suddenly realised the misbegotten could cast the same magic as the mimic's veil (turning Boc into a tree at the start of his quest), the veil had belonged to Marika before Godrick stole it. This made me think whether Boc's quest was a window into Radagon's actual conception (Marika; misbegotten/demi-humans; Red wolves; Radagon). Somehow any lesser being that used the rune of rebirth to transform would form a soulless body that would die before long, unless there was somebody with the means to separate out their own souls to possess the body, like Gowry with pests, or the Greater Will?

Well... to me Ensha is just a "nickname" this character received. As his armor descriptions says: "It is said that the bones belong to an ancient lord - the soulless king. The Lord of the lost and desperate, who was known as Ensha." So, the bones are from a guy named Ensha. Our guy is the silent assassin type, normally not someone who would go telling his name for everyone. He got the Royal Remains Set, became known as Ensha, the entity of his armor, and let this became his "name". He is just a common Tarnished that decided to follow Gideon and after some time achieved the status of "personal bodyguard/henchmen" of Gideon. A man of trust. You can see that Ensha was not someone who took "failling" his assignments and he goes out of his way when you get the object that was his target.

It's a very charming name for a man whose job is worling as a recon for the All-Knowing. Just saying that he being called Ensha due to using the armor made with the remains of some deity called Ensha, doesn't mean HE IS ENSHA. Just the same when we, Tarnished, uses the Royal Remains Set or any other set. Do we become the previous wearer or just some Tarnished dons the armor of a late warrior? If I put a Hoslow Set, does this make me Juno Hoslow? No.. the same with Ensha.

I can give you a theory, marika is an empyrean, consorts of the gods. It is said empyreans are to have gray hardended skin similar to that of stone mosaics. at the character customization screen one of the choices of race is empyrean. They were bestowed to the lands between by the greater will, marika being their queen. Being the creation of a god they are immortal beings. When an empyrean dies their body takes a long time to fully degrade like stone. Marika has been dead in the erdtree for many of years and with a stake bearing the rune of death speared into her chest it makes sense that she’s dead. When we fight radagon/marika the reason they are alive and fighting is because their corpse was reanimated by the elden beast.

It's very strange to me that people take the kinds of things that have been understood as Easter eggs/references within games for years and years and try to insist that they are actual connective tissue. Sometimes a creative team may want to give a nod at their earlier work, give a wink to those who get the reference, and move on. Like it can be fun to think about "ooh, what if they were connected," but you can easily do that without trying to assert it as fact. Or even the "idk, maybe they are, maybe they aren't connected" crowd who tries to assert that both positions are equally unsupported by the various texts.

Great video! I don't think all the IP made by From Soft are connected, if for not other reason than the different partner companies that also have ownership to the various IP. They've built in ways to connect many of them, but I think a lot of it is a combination of fan service and teasing/baiting fans. Two of the most striking examples are the names GodWYN and mohGWYN. Then there's the bells on the Walking Mausoleum that can awaken the dead and the eclipsed sun. But I honestly think all of that is bait.

Okay, so I hear you on the world's not being connected, but I can make the same argument for the exact opposite point in Tarantinos filmography. Throughout multiple films, he's connected his world. And it's all done by vague references. But there are those who refuse to believe they're not seperate works. So Is the world of Nier, and it spans multiple franchises. You probably won't read this, but I think you might just have a personal bias against it. Dark souls 2 and 1 barely had anything to do with each other, especially if you didn't play the dlc for 1.

i think that souls 1-3 is obviously connected 1 is connected to 2 pretty loosely but t3 confirms them to be all connected with the ringed city . and tarantinos films atleast most of them have to be somewhat connected, what with vic and vince vega being brothers. i forget how far apart nier and nier autonoma are but i always saw them as in the same world just far apart on the timeline.

@@TheHonoredMadman but ... I mean, a new age very far removed is exactly what we're talking about here. And in true souls fashion, it's intentionally ambiguous. Also, to the point of the ring city, if you look at it from a timeline perspective, it was not sure whether or not things were even connected up until the very end of the last Dlc of the third game, which was last in the series. The release date being like 6 or seven years from the release of the first game, and like 4 years from the second. The ambiguity was intentionally left there for the better half of a decade. And hell, this game could even be a far flung sequel of Bloodborne because of the presence of outer gods. I'm not saying it is, I'm just saying there's no current lore that can actively deny that. Kinda like the flying spaghetti monster 😂 And for Tarantino movies, most hints are subtle, most often being all connected by a brand of cigarettes. I mean, that's objectively as obscure as dark souls lore.

I think the whole theory on Ensha being a reference to Skull Knight a bit unlikely. For the longest time I wondered why Skull Knight hunted down apostles (the manga's version of demons) and eat their wish granting Beheilts. Then I remembered that only important Beheilts were red and when Skull Knight took the sword out of his mouth, it was red and covered in eyes and thorns. Even though Rykard is a strong link to the Skull Knight, Ensha is more likely another character based on how weak he is. I don't think I've come across anyone whos died from him and that has to be intentional imho

@@TheHonoredMadman also yea it was never confirmed sadly that Gaiseric is skill knight but its heavily implied and that he wore the berserk armor in his quest with his own companions like the witch etc and ended up almost dying or did die in berserk armor. Void is heavily implied to be the wise sage who became the first of this God current God hand, lots of people wonder if skully killed the others since they say their was always a God hand and void is the oldest of them. The sage sacrificed the entire kingdom he served and then was tortured by for some reason. Explaning Skulls struggle against Void for what feels like forever. Damn that stupid Idol game for making him addicted to it.Berserk such a masterpiece sad it will never be finished.

@@RobOngrui I just noticed that ensha isn't on every cover, only a few. They def added him in later. Also it's cannon that all the promotional material we see starring Vyke are actually events that happened in game before our return to the lands Between. This means that in order for ensha to be just a shit of armor (since everyone is immortal) ensha has some crazy regenerative ability since he's shown to have died relatively recently.

Just for the record nothing says Ensha was a lord. The bones on his armor belonged to a lord. There’s also nothing that says he’s a sentient suit of armor with nothing inside. Also it was the lord of the lost and desperate, not the lost and damned. A decent video as far as editing and whatnot but the lore just doesn’t really match what you said.
