If there’s ever a guaranteed way to make me cry it’s this entire musical-but especially this song
@edenglass309810 ай бұрын
Literally just came across this because one of the songs from the musical came up on my spotify shuffle. And now I'm sitting in my bedroom crying in the middle of a random monday.

This one and Me and the Sky - when she sings that what she loves most in the world was used as the bomb. Cue ugly crying.

You are just a year older than I was when it happened and now I have a child who is almost 12 and I think often about the world I grew up in and how different it is for you guys today. I hope you can try to find the hope and love of humanity that is so present in this show, even if the world feels so devoid of it these days.

The first time I saw it on Broadway I didn’t cry until the final scene. The second time saw it I started crying at the opening scene and stopped about 20 minutes after curtain call! I was in the military next to the Pentagon on 9/11. So many suppressed emotions came out (in a healthy way) because of this production! About the time I first saw this I got a dog to train for FEMA Urban search and rescue. His registered AKC name was “TBS Start of a Moment” after this musical! But his nickname-- “Gander” of course!

So glad I got to see this on the West End in November before it closed!! It was Me and the Sky that got me into the cast recording but seeing the Apple TV pro shot solidified my love for the musical. Such a beautiful story about community coming together in a time of crisis!!

Does anyone have translations for the non-English prayers? Or transliteration even? I have a weekly prayer group where we rotate who gives the 'prayer' at the beginning of our meeting and sometimes we just share videos. I want to share this as an example of multiple belief systems / faiths all praying for one thing (-ish at least), but would love to be able to know what the others are praying, if possible.
@J_mesG Жыл бұрын
The Hebrew prayer is Oseh shalom which means. May God who caused peace to reign in the high heavens, create peace for us and on all Israel. This prayer comes from “Kaddish” to bring peace upon all people

They should have included sound in Muslim prayer too.
@the_madhadder6 ай бұрын
So here’s the thing. In Islam, it is a big no-no for prayers and music to mix. The prayers themselves have a very melodic tone to them. However, the focus is on the prayer itself. With no distractions. Playing music while these prayers are being said is extremely disrespectful so I’m actually very glad they added this touch. It proves that they did their homework.

Love musical theatre but just cannot get into this show. Got the cast recording - didn’t like it! Saw the show - didn’t like it! I’m really surprised it has garnered the support it has. We’re all individual and everyone has their own taste - this one has just passed me by.

Seeing this show live is one of the most beautiful experiences I've ever had in a theatre (and I've seen a lot of shows!). I really recommend seeing it live, if you're ever curious and can find a cheap enough ticket to take a risk on something you think you'll dislike. There's a reason it's so beloved and I think you'd be hard-pushed to leave the show still feeling unsure about it.

Would be interesting to know which show(s) you do like that touched you??

@@meg4216 I seen it in October the first time I went to London and this was the first time I saw live theatre since 2019 I think but it was a long time but this musical is absolutely incredible
@williamstollery83262 жыл бұрын
I get that. It's very very overwhelming, especially on a first or second listen/watch. There's so much they're doing, and hardly any time to take it in, that it can take a few goes before it clicks. As you say though, not every show is for every person. But CFA is definitely one worth investing the time in to at least understand what OTHER people see in it, even if it's not something YOU particularly enjoy 😊
@beverlyseltz72072 жыл бұрын
I absolutely love this musical and the kindness shown to the plane people on this horrible day in the US. Love this song. The rabbi is singing Sim Shalom which means Let there be peace.
