*" ... you not only enjoy the sweetness of present moments ... but you also appreciate the bitterness of history."* *SO deep!* THAT is why I love your vlog SO much. You don't just bring us all the sites and sounds and food ... you share a bit of your soul with us, reminding us to be "human" as we see that amazing place through your eyes. You do it so elegantly. I know they are a LOT of work, but the music video-type quick edits make the video look so professional and really glue your eyes to the screen. Well worth the effort! I really appreciate your work! Something that really amazes me about Vietnamese food is how beautiful it is. Even the street food can often look like it was made to be featured in a foodie magazine. It's fascinating!

@Tran Duy Pollution is everywhere in major cities. Sadly, It is part of the human condition. I lived in New York City, and Guangzhou, China. In the NYC subway system, you could often see rats as large as housecats just FEET from you. In Guangzhou, it could be so smoggy, you could stare right at the sun without sunglasses. It just is what it is. But, like anywhere else in the world, you have to look past that, do your best not to contribute to the problem(s), and find the good where you are. It is sad that you found no good there in that historic city. But, as this video shows, Hanoi, like NYC or Guangzhou, has much to offer, from history, to culture, to food. You just have to look beyond the big city issues and embrace the good.

You have a quick learning system especially language that you can sharpen your English for just a 7 years in the US, sadly there are many people that spent 20 years here in the US and still speak broken English...I am not dissing them just that they might not have time to go to school and try to earn a living first. Condense milk is the poor man's way of making milk and feeding it to their kids. Real milk are more expensive n a luxury to have. Plus shelf life is longer kept since it is in a tin can. They were popular during the flight of the boat people after the war. The authorities would watch which family be buying more than enough like in bulk and they would watch them. There is only one reason why someone would buy in bulk. They are storing it for a run as boat people. My family bought small to stay under the radar. However, we have many people so each bought small quantity, when added together, it will be a bulk order. We would hid it out there in a bunker underneath the beach sand. When the time comes and in the middle of the night, we make a run for it. Our elders, if they are still living will drink the condense milk with hot water mix or we put the condense milk onto a French bread and eat it like that. It's culture.

What an amazing guiding video! Everything is introduced in great details and in a very friendly way. This is definitely what tourists need to fully explore our capital city. Even though I live in Hanoi, I haven't even tried most of the things that are suggested in the video, I think I should do it some day 😅. Anyway, there's still a small misinformation. The first university in Vietnam is the Imperial Academy(Quốc Tử Giám), not the the Temple of Literature(Văn Miếu). As they're located in the same place and together they make a complex, people are often confused between the two. But Văn Miếu is actually just a temple, it is Quốc Tử Giám that was truly the first university in our country

Hi Vanvu I just found your chanel and it's fantastic. I'm visiting Hanoi for 2 weeks probably in October. I'm spending a month in the Phillipines in September visiting a couple of friends one lives in Cebu and the other in Dumaguete. He's married to a filipina and they have a condo they rent to tourists and visitors so I'll stay with them. The friend in Cebu lived in Vietnam before moving to Cebu and is a big fan of the food, history and culture. He visits Hanoi every 6 months for visa purposes. He's recommended the Manor 2 and can get me a good rate. That's where I'll probably stay. I found your what to do in 1 day guide very useful and informative having 14 days to explore will be awesome. I'm a coffee lover and love asian cuisine. I like watching you eat you certainly love food!😁. Could I ask a slightly personal question? How do you eat and stay so slim? Me? I can gain a kilo just by reading the menu to decide what to eat😊. Your vlogs have given me some ideas of things to do and see so thanks for that. I'll certainly be seeing some more of them before I arrive. I think I may book a local guide for one or two days to show me around help me learn a few basic phrases and pronunciation. I've travelled a lot and find locals are far more helpful and friendly if you try to speak their language. Can you recommend any tourist guides? Thanks again for a great chanel. Steve

Returned home to Thailand today from a 2 week trip to Vietnam. Loved Hanoi, Hated HCMC. The food is OK, not great. The hotels are average, but more expensive for a similar one in Thailand. The parks in Hanoi are outstanding. Huge trees, people dancing. Fantastic! The frantic pace of HCMC was a massive turn off. Took a 36 hour train from south to north and loved it, despite the horror-film toilet. It was a great ride and learning experience for kid. Water puppet show in Cau Go was memorable. HCM monument was a bit of a joke. Nice place, glad I visited. I rank it somewhere between Cambodia and Philippines.

You should try Indian food sometime and make a vedio on it...i would love to see your reaction on it. In viatnam, there is restaurant named ''ganesha restaurant'' which serves Indian food.

Còn 1 món ngon khác mà ở các vùng khác không thể bằng hà nội đó là bún đậu mắm tôm. Thực sự nó rất đặc biệt.

I just returned from Hanoi and I actually followed most of your suggestions...no regrets lol It was very handy information and made me enjoy Hanoi much more. I ate tons of Bun Cha and pho, the egg coffee was delicious, but I was not impressed by the coconut coffee. Thank you for sharing. Ah, I was there during the Seagames and it was fun 🤗🤗🤗

Bun Cha in Hanoi was my second favorite - after Cao Lau in Hoi An :D Can you explain why the Bun Cha portions are soo big? I could never eat all of it, most of the spring rolls stayed untouched.

Wow. I would love to go back to Vietnam someday. The culture and people are different, even though I live close to Phuoc Loc Tho in Santa Ana.

Technically the name cha ca means grilled fish. Same as bun cha where we grill the meat. But good content as always, made me miss my hometown.
