This one really hit close to home for me. My Dad had an accident as a young child that left him with a TBI, which led to him not being able to read. He was a damn hard worker though! He learned hands on what to do at the many different jobs he had, and he took things so seriously on getting the job done right. When he left a job at a casino where he replaced lightbulbs, the casino had to hire a couple more people to do the same job that my Dad did all on his own. He sure taught me how to be a hard worker, and that you can be a hard worker no matter your circumstances! When he worked a janitorial job, he taught a new hire how to do things right, no taking shortcuts. Later on that new hire told my Mom and I that he was so glad that my Dad trained him and that he trained him well.

Your Dad was the kind of employee every company would LOVE to have. Hard working, dedicated, loves to help others, and he refused to be a victim of his circumstances. A lot of people would say "Oh, I have a TBI - I have to go on disability payments. I can't work". And they would spend their lives living off of taxpayer's money. Your Dad wasn't going to let that happen - he knew he could work to support his family, and he knew that was the right thing to do. If I owned a company, I would hire someone like him in a minute! I'm sorry for your family that he's gone now. He passed on a great legacy to you and your siblings by being the kind of person he was. You must miss him very much. 💐🙏

I’m a reading educator & I deal with children who come from disadvantaged homes & they all struggle with reading. I’d like to take the entire family into my room & teach them the beauty of reading. My great grandmother grew up on the Dakota prairie, she was in college at 16 & graduated with a degree & taught school in a one room schoolhouse in 1924. I have a legacy of readers in my family. I can relate. My 32 year old son is handicapped. Severe learning disability. He's a tall man, and over weight. He was made fun of continually in high school and dropped out after grade 11 due to depression. It broke my heart as a father. One day my son Bryan told me he was at home as his mother went to work, A repair man came by to fix something and recognized Bryan as a classmate from high school. They chatted about high school, and Bryan went on to tell me that this gentleman out of the blue apologized to my son form making fun of him in school , and upon seeing him he felt he owed him an apology. Bryan told him that it was alright. No hard feelings. That's my son. He always took the longer road and I am very proud of him to this day.

@@lianasoares8052 you must be pretty young not to get this. It's not as cut and dry as you make it out to be. Life wasn't always peaches and cream like it is now. In most rural areas people lived rough, impoverished lives, and more often than not they had to quit school to make enough money to feed themselves and their family. It's not as rough nowadays in life with truancy laws and stuff now but I would agree anybody under thirty has no excuse not being able to read with the sheer amount of resources out there to help them. Although older people are from a different time and had a lot less resources at their disposal. But you shouldn't make such broad accusations without considering the complexity of such a topic.

I actually had this situation happen to me around 1996. A man I worked with was asked to fill out new Health Insurance paperwork for our employer. I saw him in the corner of the break room struggling to understand the large amount of paperwork in front of him. I was a supervisor, and sat down with him. I said to him quietly "Jesse? you can't read can you?" He said no, and almost started crying. I told him "o problem, lets see if we can't get this finished tonight" and I read everything aloud to him and helped him finish the forms. Then Jesse informed me he grew up in Mississippi and went to work before the 7th grade to help his family (all ten of them). The funny thing is, Jesse managed to raise two daughters, one was in Medical school, the other had just graduated law school. Later that week I found a program through the local community center to teach him to read and write, and I paid for it out of my pocket......a year later he was reading the newspaper to me. I still hear from him from time to time........by mail.

In some countries, most people (50% or more) are functionally illiterate today. This includes Haiti, Pakistan, Sudan, Somalia, Afghanistan, Nigeria, and others. He taught himself because there was no adult program. i was shocked and amazed when he called me to come over to read the newspaper. then he showed me he could read. I have never been so proud of my father. he lived life fighting it, but he was literate when he passed. Life was always hard for him. He never blamed anyone.

finishing a military school, my then girlfriend took me to a Wendy's for lunch, while in uniform. She was a counselor and I was an Army Reserves (1993-94). A wheel chair guy had a seizure from all the lobby commotion. Without a 2d thought, I got up and instantly cleared tables removing congestion allowing her room to work. Her voice settled him down. His unaware minder was in the men's room answering nature's call. It was a small gesture, but it was June and he bought us milkshakes as his thanks. TEAMWORK is a spectacular thing.

@missawsum49184 жыл бұрын
They could feel bad but I don't think they would feel shitty since they people get told they're actresses/actors anyways and they know they're also acting
@thunderbird79364 жыл бұрын
But many people associated the actors'/actress' part to the person themselves...recent example I can think of is Bryce walker from thirteen reasons why...the actor himself is so good but he got bullied by stupid people and there are many.
