@@DZhistory44 I don't doubt your experience, that's just not mine. I even have come across people who teach English on KZbin and I've heard them tell their students that their instruction is from British English and not American English..their words, she said in British English, these are called biscuits and in American English, they are called cookies. British English calls this a lift and American English calls it an elevator, etc. She had other examples. Not everyone does this of course, but a large number do in my opinion. I remember in Germany in a large parking garage, they had instructions how to turn your parking ticket into the machine, how to pay and then how to exit. There was at least German, French and Spanish signs. There would also be that country's flag next to the sign of that country's language. I was surprised to also see two other signs both in English, but the wording was quite different. One sign had the USA flag and the other was the Union Jack flag. They certainly felt a need to differentiate the two signs of English words.

My dad is from Cuba and my mom is from El Salvador, when they 1st came to North America they faced racism nobody defended them my dad once shared one of his stories with me, he said that way before I was born he, my mom, and my siblings were at this restaurant. The manager of the restaurant was saying negative things about Hispanic people to one the waitress saying Hispanic people don't show appropriation to white servers by giving them tips. Then when a that white waitress went to take their orders, for doing a good job serving them my parents said to the waitress thanks for serving us you did a great job here this extra tip personally for you. The whir waitress shocked and with a smile she said thanks, and back to the the manager and said hey you're wrong not all Hispanics are like that.

Why attack a kid singing the national anthem in English just because he's a native Texan?
@2380Shaw4 жыл бұрын
@Kimberly Monique The kid was born in Texas and likely his ancestors were living in what is now called Texas, hence "native Texan" and besides "Mexican" is not a race because Mexico is more diverse then you've been lead to believe. I am so tired of hearing this remark when factually your teacher was charged with teaching you English. I would bet your parents were expecting you to learn and speak English at school but not to say teachers can’t hurt children’s feelings very easily and that is wrong. Students talking English only to their peers at school is a wonderful way to enable learning because if you speak Spanish to your friends and another group speaks Russian to each other it results in less people speaking English fluently. Thinking you speak a language fluently does not mean that you actually do speak it fluently. If you didn’t speak it at school you missed an opportunity. My generation of teachers were prohibited from telling students to speak English only so that remark wouldn’t have been made but I think it has hurt all of us in the long run. One problem I noticed was that I would have classes where only two or three students were native English speakers.

This touched a deep nerve. My parents came over from Vietnam right at the tail end of the war. Two 20-somethings with little knowledge of English with a two and three year-old. The escaped gunfire, mortar fire, and all sorts of danger. They saw literal dead bodies floating in the waters next to their boat as other boats had been hit. It’d be years later that I was born, but I can remember being in the position this child was in with my mom knowing next to no English just trying to have a nice day out with her youngest child. Thankfully, no one was ever this cruel, and generally people were patient and kind. Yet, there were the occasional individuals who were less than understanding. Italians are pretty racist. I went on an italian cruise with my friend and one night two old hags were making fun of me and her for being short and chubby. 🙄🙄🙄

You should do one about a Chinese person being accused of having Coronavirus just because they are Chinese. And they could say they’ve never been to China or something

"She's going to Italy in a month". Don't be afraid, Italian is a very difficult language and we do really appreciate whoever puts their best into learning our culture and customs, so feel free to express yourself. Always here to help! EDIT: I've just realised that this video was actually uploaded 6 years ago so at this point that girl probably speaks italian better than me.

@Bullets in Bacon Grease I'm a business owner. Before then I've worked many construction jobs. I know a ton of business owners. All the white dudes say they wont hire white guys cause when they give them a chance they always regret it. Slow, dont want to work but want to get paid like they're all stars. Always a hassle. They hire hispanics cause they dont complain, they work hard, they work fast, as many hours as you need them to. Etc. I hired hispanics and tried hiring tons of white dudes. The white dudes always flake. If it is hot they complain. If it is cold they complain. They complain about needing more hours. Then complain about too many hours. One dude disappeared. Found him in a hole he had dug to hide in and sleep. The most work I had seen him do.
@ricardogranados31124 жыл бұрын
@Bullets in Bacon Grease you got him sent to jail for beating a 12 year old girl in a rap battle? Wack. And it is obvious you dont let your 12 year old go anywhere unsupervised. What dummies did that? You generalized all hispanics over 1 person. I told you the experience over decades of myself and countless other business owners and you call it a generalization. You should have just went to sleep.

My Great Grandma is from Italy she was 30 when she settled in New York her English isn't the best, and like the actress in the video, she has a strong accent. My mother, Grandpa, Aunt, and I speak Italian to her (from what my mom, and I know/remember) It hurts me to see that people don't understand that other languages exist no matter how long you have lived in America. My Great Grandma has been here for decades and can barely speak the language but that doesn't mean she doesn't deserve to be here. She traveled the ocean and had to struggle so my family could be here.
