Songs of Syx is a retro base/city builder inspired by "Pharaoh", "Dungeon Keeper", and "Rome Total War". It aims at fusing those genres, while also adding to the experience. Its uniqueness comes from having huge populations, while still simulating each individual in great detail and providing big maps with 1:1 scale buildings. It's set in a low-fantasy universe and the gameplay is mostly automated where you let the AI do the mundane tasks, while you focus on greater, more kingly things.

If you build a smaller pasture from the start, it finishes sooner, so you can put your livestock in before loosing 75% of it. Half the size of what you made would have been enough for 15 livestock easily. You just have to enlarge it later, like you did with the fisheries. Considering that livestock deteriorate outside of field, the priority is not to build the larger one, but the faster one. Doing it this way save time, workforce and resources. Also, I

Agreed. If I plan on utilizing ranching at all the pasture goes up right after the starter warehouse. Your people won't die without housing your livestock will die without a pasture. One small pasture constructed in as much open space as possible (although some wood to clear actually helps it build)

You can suspend jobs instead of deleting them when you don’t have the workforce. That allows you to plan ahead. It’s in the gear icon menu. There’s also a plan toggle in that menu but it can get a bit annoying if you leave it on.
