The “Dark One’s taint” meme cracked me up more than it should have, because last week I got my husband to start listening to The Eye of the World audiobook, and I literally had to pause it the first time the word “taint” came up because the man would NOT stop laughing

@10:00 I like to hope deep in my heart that if RJ had survived to today that the mechanics of the OP would be wildly different.

A phalanx is a group of soldiers behind a shield wall with spears etc. Roman developed. We might see it in two rivers fighting, that's got me all excited!

The Phalanx is an infantry formation popularized by ancient Greeks and Romans. The tactic gets a lot of screen time in the movie "300". The phalanx is a massive shield-wall that spears poke out of. It slowly grinds into an enemy line and the weight of 80% of the men in back push the two front lines into the enemy. This formation would last more or less until heavy cavalry (or mounted archery) rendered it obsolete. The "charge-hawks" in Jordan's book are a fairly common trope in fantasy war books. Older knights always believe in a heavy cavalry charge, wherein the both the mounted men AND the horses are armored (also had to be the biggest types of men and horses) and the riders have stirrups (actually important, in European history the stirrup and barding allowed the Normans to dominate huge chunks of Europe during the high middle ages) with the goal of the charge to smash straight into an enemy line and force a rout. This tactic would last pretty much into and beyond the Napoleonic era, although by then no one was wearing armor anymore, because, you know, guns and artillery. It was, I believe, trenches and barbed wire that finally put an end to the heavy charge (and not tanks in Poland like some historians continue to say...the Polish army never tried to charge German tanks on horseback, that is a meme.)

f Rand had dealt with the Black Tower early on, then he might have killed Demandred before RJ decided he wasn't disguised as Taim, and would therefore have had even more difficutly invoving the Sharans in the Last Battle.

Asunuawa was the was the head of the Inquisitors. He wasn't as hilariously incompetent as Abdel Omerna who killed Niall, but he did not succeed in taking over the Whitecloaks and was killed for treason by Galad's people... so he was pretty mundanely incompetent.

You really have to commiserate with Perrin: Mat and Rand always did understand girls better.

I don't hate Elaida because she is a victim, while she was a PITA before hand, Padan Fain corrupted her completely.

Isn't Asunawa the High questioner of the Whitecloaks...

Of course Niall and Elaida should have similar characteristics. Both have been influenced by Fain.

I just got up and saw your memes, so quickly put it on heard the intro, thought i have to watch this later and stopped it. The next 10 minutes of the day, i realised after, i was singing your theme song. So i request that you change it to something more annoying than catchy. 😊

Unfortunately, I don't think you will get caught up before Season 3 drops. I think there will be too much "before the season drops" content you will want to make preventing you from catching up. But I hope I am wrong. Good luck in trying.
