Great video. We have the 2020 AT4 2500HD with 20" rims. Seems to be a good amount of clearance since the stock suspension is taller on the 20 then previous years. Love the wheel dip as well. Did not want to replace perfect rims just to black them out - great look!

I have stock 20" rims and the 1.5" spacers do cause the tire to rub the skirt at stock height. Looks like stock tire on 20's is approx. 1" taller than the 18's. Any spacer less than 1.5" will require the stock studs to be cut. Darn.

Hello. I wonder if you have any thoughts on the added stress on suspension components and bearings? Seems to be only downside but no one ever talks about it
@Donslife
@Donslife Жыл бұрын
I have heard the same, but this is only my opinion…..Heavier wheels/setup than stock and as the weight is moved further from the hub, then yes I think it puts more stress on the components. Especially the bearings and other wearable parts. I think many people also replace their vehicles more frequently and leave the wearing out for someone else to deal with.

@@Donslife I think that’s a good point. Running 85 pound mud tires probably puts more wear on a suspension than a 50 pound stock tire and wheel with a 1.5 spacer

Solid video! Thanks for showing us. I have a 2021 GMC Sierra AT4 (6.2L) and "went up" one size taller tire (275/70 R18)...about 1/2" taller vehicle height. Curious if these spacers will work and not rub? Right now (no spacers) no rubbing and smooth ride with the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 3 tires on all four corners. Thank you.
@Donslife
@Donslife 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris, I would take some gap measurements with your front wheels turned full lock left and right and see how much space you have if the wheel was moved outward. My suspicion is that you would have a little rubbing at full lock and/or when going down a curb/driveway while turning. It would depend on the spacer's size too of course.

Hi Andrew, next time I have a wheel off I can measure for you. It should be exactly 1.5” more towards the fender. I measured mine when I planned for them. The stock 20” wheels have a Goodyear All-Terrain, the 18’s are wrapped with Goodyear Duratracs. So even if I measure for you, our tires might be a little different on the tread on the outer edges. What kind of lift does your at4 have? And also what are the tire sizes I’m surprised there’s no rubbing given the new angled model wheel wells.
@Donslife
@Donslife 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Ryan, no lift installed currently, just the 2” AT4 factory state. The tires/wheels are stock too in this video. The spacers I feel helped the stance look better without compromising the little space with the front wheel wells.

When you re torqued everything did you do the spacers to 140 and the tires to 140?
@Donslife
@Donslife 3 жыл бұрын
Yes 140 on the Wheels and no more than 140 with the spacer to the hub. This brand of spacer recommended 120lbs on the spacer, but I felt the grade of the bolts would be fine at 140. This is what I did, but you have to decide for yourself

Not entirely accurate. The quantity of red Loctite plays a part. I have tested this to be true. I can send you a video of the removal without a torch if you like? I am not trying to be rude. However a little heat from a typical propane torch will do if you did need to soften the loctite.

Hi, the spacers link is in my video description. I think they will be okay. So far they have been excellent. I am sure that my minimal spacer size is why I am confident. They are forged aluminum alloy with a 2 yr warranty. When I get aftermarket wheels, I will be removing them. I plan to keep them with these wheels though since they offset is perfect for what I wanted.

Hi there! In the US there is a law to help protect you. To refuse warranty the manufacturer has to prove the aftermarket part caused the failure. Some dealership though might refuse to work on a system that has a modification done to it. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnuson%E2%80%93Moss_Warranty_Act In Canada we have similar protections. I would suggest more lock tite front to back across more of the threads rather than across a few threads going left to right. Any thoughts on anti seize on the center ring and on the wheel hub? My test fit was even snug and semi hard to get off before I went full torque. Any hoot... you do great work and I am like you, no vehicle stays stock for long. Keep up the good work. Do you think adding spacers like this would help? If so, any additional advice you would give for this setup to ensure safety and maximum efficiency? Thanks!
@Donslife
@Donslife 3 жыл бұрын
I do think that the right size spacer or offset wheel (best option) will help. You can do some measurements with the wheel at full lock both ways and get an estimate on how far the edge of your tire can go (pushed away) from the vehicle if a spacer was installed. Just a guess, but something small would be adequate. The closer the center of the wheel stays to the factory intended placement is always the best and safest option.

@@Donslife thanks for the response! I'm getting feedback on other forums that the upper control arms are pretty close to the tires on the AT4's straight from the factory (I never paid attention to this before). How close are yours and how close is "too close," in your opinion? Thanks
@Donslife
@Donslife 3 жыл бұрын
Mine with the spacers is about 2.25 inches. So stock anything over 0.5 inches is probably enough. Unless your tire’s sidewall compresses under a significant force and rubs the UCA, you are probably okay at that 1/2” gap or larger.

@donslife I purchase these upon your recommendation for my AT$ and want to tell you about my experience. I drove on these for around 4k miles between oil changes. I rotate my tires every oil change. My truck only has 10k miles and is not a daily driver. I have not towed or driven aggressively. I followed the directions and hand installed them with a torque wrench. I went to do the fist rotation since these were installed and 3 of the wheel studs on the extender broke right off with NO effort. I was SHOCKED and pulled them off immediately. I inspected them further and see a few studs that are cracked. I have had these for about 8 months cause its not driven daily. I tried to reach out to the company SEVERAL times and they will not respond back. I have found several others with the same problem with studs breaking off. I would ask you tell you viewers about these issues and the company not following up on complaints.

Hey Don, I just bought the Richeer spacers (1.25) and in looking at the directions for the 9/16" stud it shows torque to 135-145 but your video has different numbers. Based on that spec, I plan to torque the spacer to the factory spec of 140 ft/lbs and then also torque the wheel to the spacer at 140 ft./lbs. Did you have some other instructions to work from or am I missing something? Thanks for your response my friend and keep up the good work.
@Donslife
@Donslife 3 жыл бұрын
Hey, I think the instructions that came with mine were 120lbs for the spacers to the hub and 140lbs for the wheels as per GM. I just torqued the fronts again recently after removing them to install shocks. The spacer nuts were all still secure too. I might still have the instructions that came in the box for mine. If I find them I will let you know. 140lbs would likely be okay for both sets.
