Those look awesome. Our SLT has a lot of chrome. I totally agree that chrome is meant for the older vehicles. There were only two 20" rim choices, neither of them we cared for. This seems easy enough to do. We do like the black out look. Nice hoody, and another nice video. ✌️out.

Thanks 🙏🏻 At the time of the video, only Shadow Black was available in Canada. It is a satin like finish, not gloss. I am happy with the results.

Hey new viewer, getting an AT4 myself; when you did this how soon after spraying did you peel the masking tape off?

Anytime after the last coat. The masking tape does not go right up against what you are spraying (usually). The masking is just to avoid dealing with overspray. The film will tear (once dry) wherever there is a hard edge or gap. So for the wheels that edge is where the tire bead rests against the flange of the rim. Then you can just peel the overspray strip on the tire.

I have black AT4 and considering doing this. Did you consider dipping the lugs? The wheels look great! I cant say that I like it more than the factory once all cleaned, when you showed them cleaned they looked amazing as well.

Hello! I considered caps for the lugs or getting black lugs. I haven’t made it a priority though. I wouldn’t recommend dipping them since a socket will damage the coating

It can hold up but the risk of peeling would depend on the tire shop and the tools/equipment used to get the tires on and off the rims

Holding up really well. Car wash soap is safe. Bug and tar remover is NOT safe. I have tried some wheel cleaner for brake dust. It seemed okay but I don’t use that product often

Hi Shawn, anywhere between 10-20 mins. You can wait longer too if needed. Too much humidity will slow dry time and increase the chance of runs. I applied at about 70° with low humidity and waited about 15 mins in between

Hey Philip that’s great! Hyperdip is still 100% looking good. I sent some picture ls to a viewer yesterday who asked the same thing on IG. Congratulations on your truck! I strongly considered the new diesel, I just wasn’t familiar with it enough. I am hearing good things. If we were to get another Escalade after this one, we may want that 3.0.

For this large of a wheel. One per wheel is usually enough. The last 5-10% of the can can start to sputter and spit so I don’t usually use it all up. But you can keep it for touch ups down the road of you need to fill a chip

Every wheel will vary depending on size and complexity. For these 18’s I think 4-5 light coats then 3-5 heavier coats with sufficient dry time between them all. Up to 1 can per wheel is pretty normal. I like to leave about 10% in a can for any touch ups that may be needed down the road.

I did hyper dip gloss black to my wheels and it's barely been two months, but I'm already having issues of getting rid of brake dust in some areas. I always use wheel cleaner and let it do the job for me, but for my next wash, I guess I'm gonna have to get down and scrub hard and see if those spots can be removed. If not, I guess it's time to pressure wash this shit off and pay for powder coating.

I bucket wash them sometimes when I need to get grime out of the corners. Powder coating is a great option for sure!

No, same company, different products. This is a satin finish not glossy. They have multiple finishes to choose from. Hyperdip is their ‘designed for automotive use’ product. Plasti Dip is a generic rubberized coating.

I could have but I wanted to make sure the dip would wrap around the lip of the rim. The tiniest bit of tire dressing on the lip would possibly create a weak spot and water would eventually get under the dip.

That doesn’t sound ideal. 2 reasons for adhesion failure. Usually a surface prep/contamination issue and/or humidity was too high during the application and curing process. Otherwise a solvent like bug and tar remover could have been introduced at a car wash perhaps?
