I've had a lot of Volvo from the 140 series, all 71 and 72 models and the B20 redblock engines. I had them with a single Zenith carb, two SU carbs and one wuth Bosch D-jetronic injection. The leather seats were one of the most comfortable seat of any car I've had since.

My 73 145 had twin Stromburgs. 4 speed manual. Great car really took off after 3500 RPM. Had it for 14 years. No rust. Purchased AU $5000 sold AU $2200. Excellent depreciation value.

100pc agree. Though if you ever get a chance to try the pre 2006 Saab 9 5 leather seats.. I've sat in the volvo range and they are superb.. Just now bought a 2005 saab 9 5 saloon car with leather. Unreal.. Had design input from sweedish orthopedics. Have a try and see buddy you will be fitting them to your volvo 😊

@@MP-po6fj I had the Volvo's back in the eighties, when I still lived in the Netherlands. I'm here in Brazil for over thirty years now and we don't have Saab's over here. But you're right the Swedes knew something more about ergonomics.

Sorry for being precise: Zenith carburettors were on early B16 engines only. 1971 and 1972 B20 carburettor models had Stromberg single or double versions.

Station wagons have three general advantages compared to SUV: Lower loading sill, greater range/lower consumption and a lower centre of gravity, which has a positive effect on driving characteristics.

Great work. I am myself fixing things on my very similar Volvo 740(-89). Seeing the clutch change is good because that is after my brake fixing i am doing now. These old cars is a lot of fun because you do not need computers, special tools and there is space to actually do some work even with the engine inside. The timing-belt was almost like changing an auxiliary belt on mine, fast and very easy. Even if you set the belt totally wrong you do not destroy your engine because it is an non interference engine. In a new car if you can get to the belt at all in you home garage, your engine dies if you set the belt wrong. I also got the red block B230-F, an almost immortal engine.

These and 740 were last proper Volvo. Carrying capacity beats anything made now. Were fabulous estate car. Always had autos to be fair. More reliable x 2. Broke a telegraph pole with a 740, it lay on the roof on its cables, bonnet like a V. Just got out and walked off. Farm trailer steel foot dropped in road and ripped steering rack clean off.

My high school girlfriend had a hand me down 240 sedan with 450000kms. What a car, I loved that thing. Eventually it went to her younger sister when she upgraded after a few years, not sure what came of it from there but it was a beast.

I’ve had everything from a 544 to my current C40 electric Volvo…. But my favourites of all time were the two 240s I had. I love those cars.

I’ve been a Volvo fan for years from a 72 wagon to a 240 in 1990 , also had a 760 in the eighties, very luxurious car. Once they went FWD I stopped buying them. I’ve looked into buying another Volvo it was in Los Angeles and it was a sedan, nice looking car but I’m looking for a wagon and still looking.

Yellow EV6 injectors from a newer Volvo will improve both idle and mileage due to a better spray pattern. A cheap and recommended upgrade for a redblock.

I used my 88 Volvo 240 to travel from Pisa to Frankfurt Germany every three months for vacations and to pick up family members that came to visit. I had a manual 5 speed and the standard 4 cyd. I did not baby this car, I would bury the speedo in 5 gear for long hauls on the highways. I like keeping it above 100 mph. I finally gave it away with over 200,000 when I moved to Florida and it has a weak a/c.

Back in the late 80s I always loved the 204s I would see. Too bad in the early 90s when I could afford one they decided to discontinue production. Now so many are molested, or rusted out. Sweet wagon (estate) and that paint color really pops!!!

Define SUV! I've owned 145, 745, several 945, and they are pretty good for hauling, particularly with a hitch and a trailer. I've owned a 94 c1500 suburban that was by far the best overall car I've owned. Maybe my 88 dodge van was equal due to taller loading space and lower loading sill. Have a pickup c1500 extended cab, 8ft bed that fills every need. I also still own a 945 for the moment. Might sell the 945.

I dont know how you work on cars, but it seems like you do all a lot more difficult then it actually is. The top bolts on the gearbox for an example is quite easy to get to from the engine bay

I,ll bet you don't know that this car could be had with a 5 cylinder Audi diesel engine turbo or non turbo, but only for the home market and selected European markets.......and this was from much earlier models....they even had a diesel model with a higher rear roof which was aimed at travelling salesmen and small traders. (in UK estate was beloved of antique dealers because it could take a big wardrobe in the rear. (Bit like Stephen Fry and Elton John...😂😂 only joking).
