A lesson for any new bike owner to check for factory default settings from new, this is not uncommon. You pay dearly for adjustable suspension, it would be a shame not to use it. Triumph is very good at giving suggested settings too, hardly any other manufacturer does this, well done to them and you for knowing what you want.

Great video - ###note to all owners### - don't leave the front fork suspension adjuster tool (the circle) under the seat. I went to adjust mine after 25km and it had already fallen out of the holder and I was lucky to find it under the main seat down deep where I needed to tease it out - any longer and I fear it would be on the road somewhere. Video was a great reference thanks!

I did the same adjustment to mine, only my suspension was on the correct settings before I reset it to comfort. It is still fairly stiff but only really noticeable on very bumpy roads. This has to be one of the best handling bike I’ve ever owned.

Having the correct suspension settings can transform the way a bike handles. A good tip is to test the bike on the same short circuit with a variety of road types and surfaces, each time an adjustment is made. I fitted Ohlins to my motorcycle and was apprehensive about the setup, but found it really straightforward - making small adjustments each time. What is also helpful for setting spring compression, is the measurement of 'Sag', which is the difference between unloaded and loaded with rider's weight. On the Ohlins, I think that the Sag was specified as 25 mm.

Great video Dave, gave me an insight into the dark art! My bikes have always been older and less complicated so this seems complicated to me! 😂 It shows that they don't come with a balanced set up from the factory and I thought the dealer should have picked this up on the pdi but they didn't check it. It makes me wonder that when road testers complain about harsh suspension, they don't check it either and just slate the bike instead.

Really helpful video thanks, we don't even get a physical copy of the manual in the UK which I think is outrageous spending £11500 plus extras, need to download it! I'm planning on adjusting once it warms up and drys out to test to the full.

I've heard that if your suspension adjuster tool has fallen out it may have migrated towards the battery under the rider's seat. If not there, then look further down the sides under the rider's seat. If it's gone altogether, I've read that you can buy one from your Triumph dealer for about $13.

You always have to keep in mind that most manufacturers assume a standard rider weight of 75kg (165 pound. Of course that doesn't suit everyone. When you set up your bike, you have to keep in mind its ready-to-ride weight and adjust accordingly.

Looks like the dealer PDI was thorough, not uncommon, the brakes on my Ducati were binding within three miles of leaving dealership! They sorted but not good enough, but no further issues in 6000+ miles. Amazing how many people don’t check that a manual suspension is set up correctly, I’m like you I prefer a softer setting, luckily a Multistrada is ESA.

Interesting vid. I've heard the stock setup on the R was more suited to road riding but the RS was set stiffer for faster cornering so nice to know you can soffen up the RS suspension. Must admit to normally not having the confidence to adjust the suspension myself.
