Went there as a spectator last weekend. Lot of fun. Easy to talk to the drivers. The bleachers were in the perfect spot. As far as hotels your best bet is Starke, about 9 miles away. For food Keystone Heights is about 3 miles away. Domino's, Wendys, McDonald's and Hardee's

@@LapoftheWorld Excellent! I've done all my track driving in the southeastern US (Sebring, Roebling, Daytona, Homestead, Barber, Carolina, VIR, Palm Beach) and can't wait for more info on other circuits.

Really cool video, that was a unique format. I’m in Jacksonville and have driven past the entry gate multiple times, but I haven’t gone racing there yet.

Glad you enjoyed it. The FIRM is definitely worth the stop if you have the opportunity. Decently fun and challenging 'little' track.

Great video - a couple things to add to your checklist of amenities: I tow a large RV/trailer, and many with trailers camp in them, so is there electrical power available? What type (15 amp, 30 amp, 50 amp)? What’s the cost? RA and Sebring don’t charge, Roebling does. Sebring has the most 50 amp power plugs I’ve ever seen anywhere. Otherwise, do I need to bring my generator? VIR has full RV hookups that you can reserve for ~150 for three day events. Is there security for camping overnight? You mentioned a nearby KOA, sounds like a great plan B, but once set up, moving a trailer back and forth is a huge logistical inconvenience, so camping on site and power are ideal. I’m amazed more tracks don’t offer more RV amenities: overnight camping, pull-throughs, electrical power and a dump station. Another topic worth considering is track safety - The Firm’s track entry, being right at the end of a long straight brake zone was a shocker - imaging entering RA at Turn 10A from the gravel trap facing traffic?! It appears, like Roebling, that The Firm has soft sandy runoff - which can only safely be utilized in a straight line - any yaw and you risk digging in and barrel rolling. But again, unlike Roebling, no tires filled with snakes appear to await you. :)

Do you make the track stickers yourself ?
@LapoftheWorld2 жыл бұрын
Typically I order them from "trackdecals" (no affiliation) I've had a couple made that weren't available at the time and occasionally consider a vinyl plotter because I have the "photoshop" skills to make the outlines quickly and easily, but as cheap as I can buy them it hasn't made sense yet to take that plunge.

I couldn't find the answer but are you allowed to rent cars from the track?
@LapoftheWorld3 жыл бұрын
For some of their schools I believe so, but I don't want to speak for them. The staff are really helpful so if it's not on their site, I'd say give them a call and ask.

Why is it necessary to have both front windows down when driving on track?
@LapoftheWorld3 жыл бұрын
Two main reasons: One is to give point-by and pit-in signals which involve sticking your hand/arm out the window. If you aren't from the U.S. that may not make sense as I think blinkers are the norm in Europe. The second is to not have glass in the way in case something goes wrong, there's a fire, and you need to get out the window (car pinned against tires, door stuck from an impact, etc)
