I’ve been through a few acquisitions/mergers. Nothing good about it for bmx. Especially IBD. Good for Ronnie though.

"Support your local shop" but lets merge with one of the biggest mail order businesses out there that regularly undercuts local shops MAP pricing set by the distros... Ya that makes sense.

So true, even before I got into the bike shop work force people have been telling me source will kill the LBS and now I get people coming into the shop with hubs,rims and such from source/lux/skatepro and danscomp looking for mechanical services and builds. We mainly get our money from service fees over parts nowadays and it's rough. Our shop might not survive due to that fact. There's still the occasional customer who prefers the brick and mortar experience but we just can't afford to have as many parts in stock as we should have.

well to be honest I've never seen so low prices and most of the time when I browse shops I see tons of discount given that BMX stock is fulfilled all year long so I won't complain paying more for quality products

@@Brant_Mooresame reason everyone eventually hated Dan's Comp they get to be so big of a company they can sell stuff cheaper than anyone else can. Source spends as much on marketing than most local shops make all year.

I don’t pay attention to pricing but do they actually do that?
@jamesd54152 ай бұрын
@@Brant_Moore really all mail order/online stores do, but it's when they get really big that the prices will be different enough to cause issues. Start paying attention to prices when you are in different bike shops and compare the prices to source. It's a volume thing mail-order companies can order 10 times the products and keep them in a warehouse. Small shops can't afford to put that much money out or have the space for the parts. It's a business as much as I hate to see local bike shops suffer it's hard to put down people that started a company and were able to be successful.
@TBIKES41302 ай бұрын
@Brant_Moore Compared to most local shops I've been to it's cheaper to order from websites myself because the shop is gonna order the same thing with their discount but yet sell it for a few % more then what it actually cost just to make a profit. It's understandable up until the shop can't even build you a wheel because they can't lace them. At that point It's better to just buy some used set up or just abroad my search online and get better stuff then the shop.. my shops lacer moved and they can't even lace a wheel now sadly. Most bike shops are gonna turn to bmx race shops and e bike shops

Hopefully this will end up being a good thing? I’ve just recently gotten back into riding after 30 years and have seen how the market has drastically changed with supply and demand. That being said, I’m also a drummer that has seen some mergers in the music industry go south after a few years! Also seen the prices driven up in the companies by the merger! So I’m hoping, that one, the companies will be able to still be focused enough to meet the supply and demand of their products because as I was shopping for parts when I was building my bike the past few months, I’ve noticed so many items out of stock, or colors, especially anything chrome or polished, not available at all! I’m hoping that trend doesn’t continue?

All I know is that BMX pricing has gone through the roof over the last 18 months in Australia. I watched in-stock handlebars climb from $130 to $190 and that's just bullshit. It's become hard to walk into a bike shop here, pay their asking prices and not feel like you're being taken advantage of. I love it when they have "sales" and their stock goes back to the price it was in February. Any wonder it doesn't sell and is still there the next two following s"ales".. /Rant

Canada has done the same thing. Even wholesale costs from Canadian distros is insane. Makes it hard to pass on deals to customers when shops are held to MAP pricing by the distros.

Well I guess we'll have to wait and see how this works out. Not sure if prices will stay the same or rise. I really only have purchased Shadow products out of all of them. Wondering if this will affect Brant's discount on Shadow Conspiracy Gear and parts??? What's next? Albes... All I know is there doing some type of inventory or maintainence by the Source BMX website. Hmmm...🤔

I kept avoiding watching this since i got the notification because i love shadow conspiracy, but looks like I'll be donewith them soon. I get it's a business and it's all about money, but this is a death blow in my eyes for the sparkys companies. The higher margins means they are going to make the parts cheap and shitty, but still charge the same price for the end customer. They just want the name and reputation that shadow built. Source is going to sell the parts cheaper than a local shop can anyway so they will still be hurting them no matter what. It's all about money and the companies need to just say that. I can guarantee this won't help the sport in anyway or lower prices. We all know Stay Strongs reputation among the bmx community and it isn't a good one.
