and the mission got less features than the demo, there was some items in 2019 you could pick like a turret, blizzard its so mediocree they even cut that. oh and was not only rio, the other two missions were already playable in 2021, and they were already working on the next pack of missiosn, there is beta footage of genji saving zenyatta from widow and sombra, the last cutscene from the story missions relased, the other missions will be in new york with mcree team and monaco with doomfist. after that? maybe nothinr, already cancelled

I remember when the pve was first announced some people did in fact compare it to destiny. As someone who plays both game I instantly deemed it absurd. The amount of work that would be required to turn those little 10mins OKAY missions into a destiny experience would be astronomical. @@Odinarcade00 Pretty much this. I decided to pop into Destiny 2 after years of a hiatus and promptly logged back out again after maybe 3 hours. The story ended up being extremely piecemeal feeling, as I've missed all of the story content released between when I lasted played and when I logged back in; sunsetting of older content ensured I would never get to experience that story. As a result I had no idea why I should care about the current expansion/seasonal story and had no idea why any of what I was supposed to be doing was important. Destiny 2 is basically propped up by its incredibly dedicated fanbase that's been able to play since its initial launch. I ended up going back to the Division 2 for my looter shooter fix.

Pve was supposed to have replayability features one of the recent blogs talks about things like leaderboards and score systems which sounds like something scrapped due to time. I installed the game - excited to finally see what OW PvE content had to offer. Navigated to the new mode. Tried out the free mission on hard difficulty. Got match made with some people but they had already locked in their characters so I was forced to play Winston. I was bored out of my mind for the entire mission and couldn't wait for it to be over. I expected more than "defend this point against 3 waves of robots" twice. Without any level of customisation or abilities or weapons it just felt so flat. I would drop my bubble every cooldown, then just stand there lasering the bullet sponges with my left click. After around 6 reloads, the robot is dead, and then I go searching for a new one. It was so bloody mundane. As soon as the "Mission Complete" prompt appeared, I alt+f4'd and uninstalled. Tragic.

as someone whose always been interested in the worldbuilding done over the course of OW1, i was really looking forward to actual *progression* in OW2. Like, since that first Winston cinematic, the timeline of the world of Overwatch has progressed like, a month. The vaaaast majority of OW1 story bits have been flashbacks which is fair... if you plan on using those flashbacks for something. So the thoughts of a full OW campaign sounded great! but ya know, bobby gotta bobby

I feel like the reason there isn’t an all heroes mode is because liberation has required gaps that not all characters can cross and Ironclad requires Torbjorn to build his turrets on the final hold to trigger the fight, so the potential to be soft locked is there. It sounds stupid but it also sounds just like the dev team to opt for not doing something at all rather than slightly tweaking the level for a specific gamemode that would add so much more enjoyment. I do in fact want to see Sigma, Bastion, Torb, and Illari all set up on the payload and weaponize a killdozer on the horde of enemies as we drive by.

Something to help with the battle pass issue have it so you can buy/level up and past battle pass you want. You missed the last 3 levels on a pass due to X issue and you couldn’t play current sucks to suck but this way you could go back finish off that pass and start the new one. This gives new players the option to grind out for any BP skins they like and other players the chance to finish off any BP, you could do any free pass but for the premium version there would be a price but not as expensive as a normal new pass

so to add to your story confusion, this isn't actually going back to the beginning, this is a continuation of stories we've gotten in the comics and whatnot, its just that the multiplayer interactions aren't actually cannon, so like... Lucio's interaction in the spawn room or whatever were basically "what if" because he had never actually talked with any other them in the actual story canon. The period of OW1 story content jumps around a lot was all either during the period of overwatch being disbanded or before overwatch got disbanded. Basically it was all sort of a prologue for OW2's story but none of that is actually clear because the OW team never set themselves up to tell a cohesive story.... Also honestly the jaded part of my still believes that OW2 was announced to distract from the whole Blitzchung debacle that was happening at the time.... Between their handling of the transition period between OW1 and OW2, and the pandemic, the overwatch pro league has been severely hamstrung and honestly feels like a game that could have been a long term e-sport powerhouse like LoL or Dota is a shadow of that.

I have one problem with the missions, they are boring as fuck on anything other than Legendary but on legendary my team gets absolutely bodied and I had 18 revives before I made it to the ship… They should make expert the easiest mode and build up from there though. I’m a Lore-guy though so I love that. Besides I don’t see this as the pinnacle of the pve they are going to produce, i see this as a start up with potential. It serves its purpose. Of course it’s extremely disappointing compared to the promises made but that can’t be helped.

As someone who damn near burned his ps4 out playing OW I think its really sad the now state of this once beloved game. I could see the direction they were going with OW2 so I just left my account (and probably close to 1000 dollars worth of skins and stuff) behind and never even bothered to link up to Overwatch2. I've still never played it and have no regrets about it. At least I know I was there for OW's golden age and when the game was at its best it was so much fun.

As someone who is a part of both the Destiny and Overwatch community it feels like the house is on fire and random people who have ZERO idea of whats going on keep trying to cash in on the fire but they are completely uninformed. PVE was never axed completely and if the population stays stable they clearly want to utilize alot of the tech on more content (which I think they have already used some in limited time modes)

I think no one will complain if Dev said “Hey, we can’t delivered the whole thing so, we will instead slowly adding them into the game” but they scrap just everything altogether. Maybe add basic features for the PvE first then slowly add the feature they promised later. But Bobby needs more dollar I am very sure of it.

Something they wasted was the chance or option of freeplay , like a lego game , where if you beat it the normal way then you could play with any character , like junkrat or hog or ramatra , whatever , its just wasted potential and would make one tricks very happy

The missions that you buy for $15 (which are the first 3 missions) are permanent, but the Event PvE mission (which is Underworld atm) will dissapear after the event timer ends

Lol I remember back when OW2 was revealed. I was planning on sticking around for PvE cuz the PvP had exhausted me but welp. Like I was hopeful that it'd be similar to games like L4D where you can play the PvE forever and have fun really. But nope. It gets scrapped and downscaled and what we they do end up giving us is just a slightly better Archives which is only really worth doing for cutscenes and voice lines you can watch on YT anyways. Tbh even had it been better I wouldn't have played it by buying it myself. After all those Blizz controversies I just cannot like support them in any way. I haven't even played Diablo 4. Also for some clarification and btw spoilers for people that don't wanna play or are confused: The Null Sector overall isn't sentient. It's a bunch of robots that are controlled by one or a handful of Onmics that are actually sentient and pissed off with Humanity. So all those robots you're fighting are just that robots. It is weird tho considering Bastion is a thing. So I'm guessing all those combat bots have the potential to develop sentience I guess. That Lucio comment is fair but it do be like that when you don't move the story forward in any way for... what? 7 or 8 years? Anyways, Lucio was always supposed to be a newbie on the hero scene. It's just a wack ass side effects of basically neglecting the story for so long and you'll keep seeing this happen in subsequent releases of Archives 2.0 whenever a newbie gets introduced. We've known them ingame for years but in the narrative they haven't even met less than half the actual cast of the good guys.

As a long time Overwatch fan and someone who was eagerly awaiting Overwatch PvE before it's devastating cancellation, I think this video is a perfect summation of the PvE experience, especially from the perspective of someone returning to the game after not having played for a while. Great vid :)

Yeah, it's exactly like archives, and it seems like their idea is to take away a bunch of the stuff that was going to be in the original overwatch campaign to cut down on work so they can get it out faster and then slap a price tag on it even though not alot has changed since original overwatch. Pretty disappointing.

Matchmaking is totally available for the PVE missions! If someone quits, that hero will become a bot. Nobody will rejoin. I enjoyed the missions but I think that is because I really enjoy the lore, and the heroes. The cutscenes were great and the interactions between the heroes was fun. In the end, I think $15 is a bit steep for one hour of gameplay on Hard. Damn shame there wasn’t more missions available but Bobby Kotick wants to milk his money cow.

Considering Overwatch was an MMO that was reduced to the type of PVP mode that used to be tacked on to games like Call of Duty it seems fitting that the sequel reiterates and doubles down on that backstory. Less is more!

This screams the same vibe as when R6 Siege had the Outbreak event that was a very popular series of PvE zombie type missions with objectives (reach target, defend point, save ally, etc). This was in the game for ONE 3 month long season and they took it out of the game. That happened in the 3rd year of content for R6 Siege. For years we wanted that back and were confused why they wouldn't. Eventually we got news that they were making a whole game on the premise and to wait. Years after that R6 Quarantine finally came out and was not popular. Was expensive for what content there was, terrible progression system, low player count. Dead on arrival

I hate how people dont understand how difficulty is suppposed to work. Me example: In cuphead when you use simple difficulty It skips some phases and reduces the amount of damage needed and reduces attack speed and attacks on the whole On normale:well its normal With Expert:Sometimes there is extra phases.More attacks intersecting each other.More stuff covering your screen.The boss has more health more damage and etc. In overwatch pve you know what they did? Just increase hp literally just hp more hp and more hp so basically your playing the same thing with more HP

I wouldn't be as mad at overwatch 2's poor PvE, if it didn't come with the fact they practically abandoned the first game for 3 WHOLE YEARS to produce PvE. And this is what we get out of it? The yearly PvE missions with a little bit of expansion? Its more than just disappointing to me.

Its a shame really. Overwatch is one of my favourite PvP experiences, and i always have a really fun time playing it with friends especially, almost hit the 1k hour mark in OW. The PvE events (Junkenstein, archive etc) have always felt so bland to me, Was really hoping OW2's original PVE vision came true as i may have considered it, but it just feels to me its not built to be a PvE game, and that is okay for me as ill always enjoy its PvP

As someone who played OW1 since beta and quit during the"Oops, All Barriers" malaise era this doesn't surprise me the least. It was clear Blizzard had completely gone off the rails with OW and the attempt at rebooting it with OW2 was such an obvious cash grab, just trying to squeeze a few more dollars out of a dying franchise. It's a pity because if you look past the game, the characters (as stereotypical as they were) and the storybuilding around them was really fun.
