So for those of you coming back through here because this was in your recommended, there's a common myth about chameleons that I need to inform you of because it's relevant to this video: chameleons have a docile color scheme which changes based on temperature and includes natural, camouflaging colors. They also have an emotional color scheme designed to impress the ladies, which includes bright, non-camouflaging colors. Seeing as nowhere in the world that chameleons live does the land look like a candy-cane murder scene, this chameleon is not just happy to see his owner, he LOOOOOOOVES his owner. Big time. Like, almost romantically. It's really sweet. This dude is so happy that he looks at this human with the same fondness as a member of his own species. That's true love folks, and you can't fake that for the internet.

They change colors to hide. This one didn't feel threatened and so he kept his random colors. But yeah I expected it too. After all these creatures aren't cats. I'm not sure they can even understand the concept of a friendly different species animal.

May not understand friendliness but he has trust. I have several reptiles and that’s something I have learned. They don’t necessarily love you or see you as a friend, but they learn to trust you. And they know you won’t hurt them. They associate you with food and warmth and so they may not love you, but they feel safe, and have trust. Which is just as good :)
