James's sister wants a 'full' investigation. The whole incident is on camera. James with an empty expression, breaking down the door, ignoring the armed father, and then running out front. It took less than one minute. James was the aggressor. What on earth does she want them convicted of. Perhaps excessive force, but they were terrified, acted out of instinct, self preservation. So sad, James had a mental break.

And that is a massive misunderstanding of stand your ground law. You do not have the right to murder someone, especially if they are running away. Period. It does not matter if he broke the door down. He never entered the home nor did he have any weapons, and he ran when he was getting attacked. That is NOT standing your ground. That is murder. Should he have not broken down the door? No he shouldn’t have. Should he not have shown ip? No he shouldn’t have. Should he have listened to them when they said to leave? Yes, he should have. But did the man have the right to shoot him while he was running away several times and murder him? No. Stand your ground law clearly states you are to use force within reason. He had the gun ready when he broke the door down and had it pointed. That was within reason. What is not within reason is shooting an unarmed individual who is RETREATING. That is not within reason. He clearly was no longer a threat. I know. It is so hard to comprehend that the world is not black and white inside your dumb little head. And it is shocking to hear you can’t just murder people because because. The law states very clearly that if you pull a gun on someone and they STOP or RUN AWAY and are not within 6 feet of you and still approaching you after you made it clear you will shoot and you shoot them. You murdered them. Period. In this situation, the guy ran. He had zero right to open fire several times at a retreating person. You people spitting out the law without actually knowing the law is a fucking problem. I hope you do this and go to prison for life because you can’t be bothered to learn what the law says while screaming about your “rights”. Absolutely baffles me how you people think you are so entitled to murdering people over a broken door or stealing things. Those do not equal death. It only equals death when the person is there to do actual harm. And the fact he had no weapons on him and he clearly heard the dad on the other end makes me think he wasn’t there to actually harm anyone. Again, he shouldn’t have done what he did and he should have been taken into custody and charged. But his life being taken over it is not the punishment fitting the crime. Tired of you brain dead idiots with this “stand your ground” law and bot knowing it. Fucking google it retard.

I can't understand what difference it makes if you're shot in the front or the back. Once you attack, you're an attacker. He clearly broke down the door, so now you're a threat. You don't stop being a threat just because you decide to run away. He just as easily could have been armed, ran behind the cars, and started firing into the house. I wish they'd make it that once you attack, you're considered a life long threat to the victim.

No, the neighbor has perfect self-preservation skills. He witnessed them kill an unarmed kid who was walking away, just because the girl couldn't be a grown-up about their relationship and end it properly instead of stringing him along over and over. He KNEW the girl's dad was a crazy gun-happy insane freak, and he knew to keep a distance and not go too far with pointing out the obvious: that there was no reason to shoot an unarmed kid who was walking away. The shooters were acting crazy, freaking out "he's trying to date our daughter!" and the neighbor who had common sense was like, "you just MURDERED an unarmed kid who was LEAVING" but he he knew he had to say it in that "but it's ok, man, I'm staying out of it, I saw what happened, but I'll stay out of it so you won't shoot me as I walk away, too!" HE did exactly what he needed to do -- try to get close enough to check on the kid without getting himself shot by the neighbors who he knew were completely insane.

I agree with other's assertions that there was very likely some mental illness going on but at that moment, that vacant look on his face and the very deliberate blinking indicates to me that there's a good chance he hadn't been to sleep at all that night. That he'd sat around thinking about Ally, made the phone call and left the message and then stayed up the rest of the night obsessing over it and her, maybe wondering why she wasn't calling back or what might happen when she did call back. And when it got so late in the morning and he hadn't heard from her, he decided that he had to go talk to her and got some fixation on it. It didn't look really emotionally driven, more like he'd gotten a thought in his head (just that he had to hear from her) and had to follow through with it and not let anything stop him. Which is super dangerous thinking for whoever is on the other end. That can be almost robotic- at least when it's driven by emotions there's a chance you can appeal to them that way. With this, it's almost mechanical.

That last story was so insane. What was not said was the guy would go racing up and down the road in a neighborhood. And it was constant. This was over at least a yr. What Mike had was just the last week. Then they got scared he would kill one of the kids there. He put them on blast and they were harassed by those idiots. And cops didn't do anything because he was always sitting at home being a nice little AH! He should have done time for that alone. He tomented that family for a long time.

To be fair they were likely just gonna tach him a little lesson on being a good neighbor, but still, they were warned. What changed my mind was considering the whole situation. It just seems wrong that a guy would instigate and harass a family for a year and when they get fed up and react that is used as an excuse to gut the guy. Definitely can't get behind that.

I was struck by a car when I was 7; it was a neighbor who hit me and he was going 15 over the speed limit when he struck me while I was on a bike. For some reason, it didn't kill me. It’s pitch black I guess dad hadnt opened the fridge yet, but he heard it and looked and seen somebody trying to climb into the window and dad stood infront of me, turned on the light and chased the guys out of the backyard. I wish we knew how to change that. Maybe it's about trust; kids trusting their parents enough to talk openly about what's really going on in their heads; but I don't know. I think it is horrible that people have to think whether they can defend themselves from an attacker. It sucks he had mental problems and that he died…But I think every father do the same the same or at least hope that they should protect their family. And to be honest, it doesn’t matter who was on the other side of the door, could have been a single person with no family. Personally I think he sounded suicidal in the voicemail, I don’t think he cared what happened to him. Very sad for his family, but they need to understand the father and the daughter were also put through a very traumatic experience that they certainly wish hadn’t happened.

I have lived at this house with my wife and kids for 5 years now and up until the other week it was peaceful, besides some neighbors being annoying. At about 3am my wife, kids, and I all woke up to 8 gunshots, I huddled the kids into our bedroom on the floor while I tried to determine where it had came from. Our entire street became part of a crime scene. Apparently a younger one (probably early 20's) of the neighbors shot his older sister to death, then took off running. They apprehended him shortly after it had happened luckily. I'll never understand how people can become so out of touch that they completely disregard the value of another life.

The first story is one of the clearest cases of self defense that you can have. It's caught on camera, he was warned, he broke through the door. I don't believe the father meant to shoot him in the back, i think he just pulled the trigger multiple times as a reflex. He's not a trained officer, he was in fear of his life. The crazy thing about the neighbor is that he got involved but didn't give him any first aid.

Idk if Allison was living back at her parents house when this occurred, but if not, James was likely stalking her bc it seems rather odd that he would pull up there right as they arrived home. Damn good thing they were observant and wisely decided to get into the house and lock the door quickly. I don't care if James was armed or not, people get murdered with knives and other weapons found inside their house all the time, and obviously James had a nefarious plan that day, and the family would have likely been victims if Allys father hadn't shot him dead.

I had kind of a similar experience with a guy just going nuts. I had an acquaintance, never had a one on one conversation with him or been alone with him. One night he sent me a facebook message professing his love for me. I was already asleep and I didn't even look at facebook until the following afternoon and his messages had escalated throughout the night from professing his love, to calling me all kinds of names for not responding to him. I had literally done nothing and this guy created a whole scenario in his head where I was actively ignoring him. Freaked me out.

The thing with "Karens" is half the time you see the videos start in the middle of something, and it's obvious the people taping were doing stuff to provoke other people and then film it. We need a name for assholes who do that, too. You can't just call people "Karen" if they're upset about reasonable things like people racing down their street or being noisy all the time. "Karen" should be reserved for people who do things like call the cops on lemonade stands.
