When you struggle on features, definitely do more shots of you pushing your bike back up the feature. The angle of you versus your bike versus the bike against the vertical rocks and trees REALLY puts it into a better perspective. Leaning your bike over into that absolute pit looks petrifying...
@bryanmurphy264 жыл бұрын
Agreed. That first feature didn't look steep until he was trying to walk back up it, and that drop had me nervous.

That was a dizzy drop Ryan! You soared, I panicked. And Beth, bravo for peeling yourself off the Lodgepole pine and jumping back on the saddle. Enjoyed this ride!

That is a great new trail James. I just couldn’t get it together for that drop. A few of the berms are super tight and steep. Such a thrill to commit to and let go of the brakes. Cheers all!
@ridebc16294 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jeff! Yeah the drop is a bit of a mind game for sure. Would have liked to make some of those corners more open but was too steep 😑. They make you commit for sure

So jealous that you guys are riding already. Just a few more weeks before riding starts around Rossland (at lower elevations). That looks like a nice flowy trail. I don't know if it's the gopro or that I'm getting better (a bit of both hopefully), but that didn't really seem like a black, except for the big drop, but I wouldn't rate a whole trail based on one feature that's optional. I totally agree that it's nice to have downhill trails where you hardly have to touch the brakes. The optimal downhill trail in my mind is one where you don't really need much braking (once you know the trail) and where you don't need much pedaling. I hate trails where you have to burn up your brakes, not just for the trail wear, but also because I've paid in sweat for every foot of elevation I had to climb (on most days), and I don't want to waste it going down. A trail where you're forced to use your brakes all the time tells me that elevation drop could have been better used making the trail longer and/or with more fun turns and features.
@TheLoamRanger4 жыл бұрын
Agreed! The trail itself has a number of features that a rider has to commit to, which I would say puts it at a black. On that run through, I missed a couple of jumps that a rider at my level (not a noob, but certainly not a pro) could do, but might take a second/third run to really nail. I definitely need to get back to Rossland!

Haha well thanks! I’ve been working hard on hitting bigger drops over the last year, but I think the mental bar just naturally raises as a rider improves. I’m sure some dudes who are riding Rampage think they’re no good at drops 😂

I’m a beginner wanting to get into MTB, and I wanna know if I should get a bike with switchable gears or just a 1 gear bike.
@dmitrymolotov64284 жыл бұрын
Get a bike with multiple gears but only rear if you can. And make sure you get one that has good enough travel in the fork/shock. Start small and work your way up, otherwise you may hurt yourself. Good to see that there are new riders all the time, have fun out there!
@RobbyRhea4 жыл бұрын
Dmitry Molotov Thanks man! Literally about 30 minutes after that comment I was talking to my dad about wanting to get into MTB and he showed me his old “Gary Fisher” bike and said that most of the parts were aftermarket and worth a lot. Plus, it has gears in only the back, but I didn’t count how many...
