Eden Hazard was amongst the best players in the Premier League, and by association, the world, at Chelsea. Acclaimed for his dribbling, creativity and ball retention skills, the FIFA website regards Hazard as being "difficult to dispossess". If u never watched hazard play at Chelsea you’ll never understand how amazing he was. Stats will never tell the whole story with a guy like him, he accounted for almost all of Chelsea’s creation and playmaking while he was there. If u watched him play u know exactly how special he was

Sad to see how his career deteriorated so rapidly at Madrid, so his retirement wasn't all too shocking for me, personally. Something also rarely mentioned is that his cutting across the defender skill for dribbling (which he tweaked it compared to what normal wingers and ACM do when cutting it across) is basically what led to a lot of his injuries since it'd just make him sustain tons of pressure from the opposition's legs in both his calves and knees all the time all day during games. That combined with a bad diet and poor dedication to training led to his downfall since he could never be fit when he reached his 30's.

As a Messi fan since the 2009, even i accepted Hazard's nickname (the right footed Messi/EPL Messi). Because he was that good then. He was the closest to Messi to me, better than David Silva because he had speed and better than Pedro because of his close control. He can dribble past multiple opponents easily, find short passing lanes that needed big brain and the skills to execute it perfectly which often became great chances/assist and he scores bangers a lot. My mate who is a Chelsea fan since he was 9 loved the fact that I myself said Hazard was the closest to Messi. I watch Chelsea's game just to watch Hazard at the time. When he moved to Madrid, my heart broke. But i gotta say the schadenfreude in me got the final laugh.
