I think they usually claimed to be displaced heirs of some of kingdoms that constituted Nigeria in pre-colonial and colonial times. Trouble is that the most of the traditional rulers have their own titles such as Oba (closest translation would be emperor) of Benin who is currently Ewuare II since 2016. Scam itself is much older than the internet. As far as we can tell it started as Spanish prisoner scam in 18th century in which scammer would approach rich mark with letter claiming that a member of prominent family is secretely imprisoned in Spain and needs money to bribe the guards to smuggle him out of country with promise to pay it back tenfold as soon as he arrives home and claims his fortune.

The children of chieftains usually called themselves a prince in the west. My stepdad was a son of a chieftain, he always thought it was ridiculous that some called themselves a prince. Than there are also other titles that gets translated in King/Prince even though that doesn't reflect the title.

I don’t think it was a scam, i think the prince and Rossi failed to reach an agreement, probably regarding the prince’s demands. There were rumors that one of it was for Rossi to race another year, which he definitely didn’t wanna do
@Menrva133 жыл бұрын
@@liamvandeseijp6901 sadly it was. There's a well made doc video and some articles detailing the entire event. Both are in Italian though. It was so grotesque to say the least. It was a scam by an alleged Italian architect and a Moroccan playing the role of the Saudi Prince. Aramco immediately denied that it was approached by VR46. VR46 were in talks with third-party people who were faking to be members of Tanal Global Holdings. They did not even have a proper company email but a Gmail one. That detail alone speaks volumes. VR46 have been naive, but nothing terrible to be ashamed of.

@@Menrva13 ohh yikes, that i had no idea about. A deal from Aramco does sound legit, and when it never happened i assumed maybe they pulled out because Rossi refused to race, or if Rossi backed out because of human rights reasons, either or. @@liamvandeseijp6901 That's the thing. I miss Arrows. It's a shame Malik essentially created the teams demise, as in 2000 the car was very quick & competitive with de la Rosa & Verstappen scoring good points and the car being the fastest in a straight line. Only reliability hampered de la Rosa picking up podiums in Hockenheim & A1 Ring. The car was even competitive in 2002 as you mentioned with Frentzen scoring points until the team collapsed. Makes me wonder what could have been. Great vid Josh

@@rosarioyeen1371 bit harsh on TWR, given his success in other formulae over the years he did better than other privateer teams around the same time that arguably had better backing (Prost) and not a million miles off teams with vast funds (BAR). I think the issue was with how the money in F1 really spiralled in those early 2000s, after that poor '98 season with a car that struggled with the new grooved tires and the '99 disaster with only 1 point scored left the team always bleeding money, even after the 2000 season when they had a strong car and points finishes they couldn't build on that into 2001 with that terrible Asiatech badged engine.
