The general public can only assess a politician based on their present and past political and social activities/history. I will refer here to the example of Quaid-e-Azam. Before partition, many Muslims in India were against him, but history proved that Quaid-e-Azam did what he said. So, it is not possible for the general public to assess such things. But yes, Allah can assess, because He has ilm-ul-ghaib (knowledge of the unseen) and knows everything.
