You don’t need to take the backing plate off. You can usually undo the cylinder bolts, push it through and then spin the cylinder off the brake pipe. That’s a lot of snapping bolts, drilling and tapping that you don’t need to do.

I use the exact same "bunsen burner" - find it great. When them studs snap on me (a lot..) I weld a washer onto the stub using a flux-core mig, then weld on a nut (usually a 17mm) - flux core bangs in loads of heat & usually frees the stub off. I then wind 'em out carefully. What I don't (or didn't do) was set the drums on fire. I will from now on lol, kicking myself I never did that before, it makes brilliant sense. Every day is a school day. :-) Subbed. Did a Landrover with drums all round yesterday - every drum was caked in crud. That "set it on fire" trick would have saved ages poncing about with a grinder & wire wheel, flinging crud everywhere. 4 times... Effort.

Daft design having to remove the back plates to change the rear wheel cylinder. Good tip regarding the brake pipe.

No access to the wheel cylinder retaining bolts terrible idea when they could have put a relief there so you wouldn't remove.

Done this job many times on KA and Fiat 500 and never had to remove backplate making a meal of it. And for the sake of cleaning the drum with brake cleaner and blowing off with an airline you set it alight I think Health And Safety would have something to say about that I presume this video sent to your customer to show the big job you had to do to their car and chance of loads of money not impressed
