It's not the worst anime there is, and at the very least it got Tomino to wake tf up and make gundam instead and look at his work now, 40 years and still going strong, you couldn't say that to most studios or animators who would go on to be forgotten in time having done nothing significant after they made a single genuinely terrible anime, also this is classic Tomino, like I remember he also made a manga on Jesus and the story for this show is straight up an isekai Bible story, he's probably had the idea to make an anime like that for quite a while well at least he finally did and then moved on to make anything else but it

I used to own this. It's also supported to be in the same setting as another great tomino classic, Aura Battler Dunbine aka isekai gundam with medieval magic robots. I chalk this up to Tomino still trying to detox his depression from working under crappie meddling business executives. The concept is actually not bad, but it's a big mess in execution.

What I want, no, need to know is this; did this anime take the muton sound at 16:50 from Xcom (1994 version), or did Xcom take the sound from the anime. This is important, I must know.

I think it's similar to Doom, where it's door opening sounds and monster roars are from a sound CD that's sold for use in media production. So I think it's just a stock sound both used.

People saying current animes are bad are literally blinded with nostalgia. They only watched the good ones back then, and simply didn't know the existence of these bad animes because it was not as available as current day.

Yeah, Oldtaku will argue that anime today isn't as good as the old stuff, but can't deny that it's not as bad as it used to be. Sure we don't have a modern day Cowboy Bebop or Fist of the North Star, but we'll never be as bad as Garzey's Wing or Virgin Fleet (trust me, WAY dumber and more infuriating than it sounds)

To be fair, you can probably easily find real crap animation in modern anime where the scene just isn't important enough to really warrant anything serious for the animators to put their hearts into. That and how old the anime is too really makes comparisons to the literal "best animes" of modern day a lil too much.

And sometimes that crap animation is in the Overlord Season 3 Finale. This is well after it became popular, with 2 seasons under their belt, so they had no excuse. And this isn't some new studio Kadokawa got on it, this was the same studio that did Hellsing Ultimate. Yet all the Kadokawa animes keep being crap. How strange.

It's definitely not the worst anime out there. Still pretty bad though. Chainsaw Man's animation wasn't bad, but I'm tired of people saying that it was amazing (at least in the beginning). The attacks with CG felt like they had no impact, and movements were overexaggerated and slow.
