Elvis' Aunt Delta Biggs lived at Graceland until 1993. They kindly asked PRIOR to the tour to respect her privacy as the home was still a residence for her. Tours were kept away from Minnie Maes bedroom and the kitchen area to achieve that. I couldn't imagine possibly overhearing someone talk about my nephew like that, he SHOULD be embarrassed.

Totally agree with all you said. I’ve seen reactors do Elvis and start liking him so much that many went way down the rabbit hole listening to all his songs, learning about him & even doing their own research on him to learn about him. I watch these young people, black and white react to this man’s soul singing & they get the fever bug. We’ve all got that Elvis fever in which we get pulled in, sometimes not even knowing why & we stay there forever. His talent grabs our souls and won’t let go. Me? I’m glad I’m caught in his trap & I can’t get out. 😂❤❤❤❤❤

I wish people would stop acting like Hound Dog was his only known hit. The man had 18 #1 hits on the Billboard charts, 5 more than the self proclaimed "king of Pop" Michael Jackson who only had 13. Not to mention Elvis had 6 #1 R&B hits, 35 total on the R&B charts. He was the first crossover superstar in music history. There wouldn't be a Beatles or MJ or Beyonce or Beiber or anyone today without Elvis Presley. And it's passed time that the world starts to recognize that fact.

@@thecoolcreativebuildchanne2613 Hell, Quincy Jones even said years ago that Elvis was the epitome of Rock and Roll and because of him we had The Supremes, Michael Jackson and Beyonce. He said it in an interview on VH1 back before it became a reality channel. That obviously was before Quincy got jealous because he found out his ex wife slept with Elvis and decided to attack him by making up racist lies about him. You couldn’t go into the Graceland mansion until 1982 but you could tour the grounds. I was there in 1979. Toured the whole outside. The Memorial Gardens, the Lions at the front. Just standing at the front of the mansion! (A little smaller than I thought that it was from pics I had seen as a boy.) Stood where Elvis did at Sun Records while singing during the recordings. Went through Humes Highschool and went through every bathroom to make sure to have been in the one where Red West saved him from some boys who were going to cut his hair. Memphis was magic. You could feel Elvis’ spirit everywhere. It was a magical time for a 14 year old boy who idolized Elvis.

@@thecoolcreativebuildchanne2613 It's more fact than opinion. People don't realize that Elvis revolutionized pop culture by bringing black music to the mainstream America during a racially divided and segregated time which then influenced other nations. Black music has influenced practically every musical genre since Elvis. Black music needed Elvis to help break down those walls of racial discrimination and segregation towards black entertainment. That's why in 1973 the NAACP honored him in Atlanta before his concert with an honorary award for his contributions to Rock & Roll integrating America. And it's why he was inducted into the R&B Soul Music Hall Of Fame in 2016. The museum opens next year in Marks, Mississippi.

You have got to look deep into the artist to understand how talented he was. “ I truly believe that every musical artist ocker musician, should take a moment of silence before every show in Lou of Elvis Presley’s name.” Elvis Presley changed the blueprint for rock ‘n’ roll and music forever, and gave so many opportunities to so many artist to do what they do.👍🇺🇸🙏🎸🎶⚡️🎹🎤🥁👑🔥

I have seen the incredible increase of reaction videos by young people on Elvis and it is amazing to watch their genuine reactions to him, most are astonished by how good he was and they express this with such enthusiasm. I think the movie has done so much for the Elvis story and also for the idea so many people had that it was not cool to be an Elvis fan. Rogan has annoyed me at times but he does that for lots of different subjects and I guess that is why people listen, so now when he says complimentary things I also realise people are listening and it is peeking their curiosity and so this is a great thing.

I took one of those early Graceland tours when I was in high school (summer 1982, I'll have to check my Mom's diary to confirm). We got to walk through Graceland (not the upstairs though). I seem to recall that the tour guide told us Elvis' grandma was in the kitchen, but we never got to say hello. Downstairs into the Jungle Room was cool. Once outside, there was a jeep or dune buggy fans could sit in for a photo. The racketball court was still a racketball court (not the trophy room it is now), and we sat on the floor and watched a brief video on Elvis on the racketball wall. We got to walk briefly through the Lisa Marie aircraft. It was a hot hot summer day and Dad wasn't a fan like I was, so he was constantly pushing us... "let's go... let's go".

My family and I went to Graceland in the summer of ‘82, just a few months after it was opened. I do remember touring the first floor, the jungle room, downstairs, and not the kitchen at that time. What I remember of the carport was the pink Cadillac, maybe the Stutz or Lincoln and the little jeep from Blue Hawaii. The trophy room had trophies, gold records, the black leather suit, Aloha suit, their wedding outfits and a number of jumpsuits on a rack. We looked in the racquet ball court and Vernon’s office before tourythe gravesites. Across the street were a few shops and that was it. All in all- a lot for $5 😅

Yes, I was so happy to hear this on Rogan!! This movie is turning out to be so important to Elvis's legacy, it was definitely meant to come out when it did. Any criticisms of it not being accurate in every detail (it's a movie and a rock opera style one at that) or not including everyone in Elvis's life (how?? There's no way it had time to flesh everyone out) always seemed wildly besides the point to me. Plus, consider this: it's a movie in 2022 about a straight white male, living in the '50s, who isn't racist. In today's hyper-progressive Hollywood climate that's really something. ;)

Yes! I never gave him a lot of thought honestly until the movie. He died when I was a year old. I just always thought he was kinda hokey. But I really started to dig after the movie and the more I learned the more he's one of my favorite artists. I figured if Austin made him seem that great I could only imagine what he was like in person. Actually watching the movie made me feel like attending a concert. I know for a lot of Elvis aficionados there's some left to be desired but I think it's really made to introduce peoole to him. Now the knock is he didnt write his own songs, but he did so much with his voice, arrangement and presentation that nobody has done it as well before or since.

Good to hear that people are realizing how great Elvis was. Not that he needs their approval. Well, I guess as a preteen in the early 1980's when I first saw This Is Elvis on network tv I was miles ahead of these guys. That was the beginning spark of my interest in Elvis because I realized how great he was. A few years later was when I really started taking an interest in his music. I had found a radio station called Oldies 103.3 and every Sunday morning for they did a one hour show called Elvis Only with music, info. and interviews with people who knew Elvis. That show ran for over 20 years. It started out in Boston and went national. The hosts name was Jay Gordon. He was the one who pitched the idea of an Elvis show to the radio station. He was a big Elvis fan. I'm glad I got to visit Graceland in the late 1980's when the tour was probably more intimate and personal. Sure, the displays look great now but seem more impersonal etc.

I was fortunate to tour Graceland as a kid the first summer it opened. There was a guided tour through the house but it was free reign once we stepped outside and I believe the "trophy" room (that's what I call it). His cars were parked outside and we took pictures with them and his horses. I went back as an adult in 2001. We were allowed in the racquetball court this time, the cars were in a separate museum and the Lisa Marie was available to tour. I remember seeing the plane from a distance when I was a kid wishing I could go inside. We also passed the gates to Graceland several time driving up and down the street missing it everytime because we were expecting something distinct about the location. But the gate blended in with everything else. It didn't stand out at the time even with his custom design on it.

I`m so glad you brought this to my attention. You never bitched about the movie, because you knew how much good it will do for Elvis and Elvis fans. The movie achieved more than anybody, including myself, could hope for. Those who criticize its content, don`t understand how unimportant the incorrect details in the movie are. Once a message is spread, and people get interested in someone or even become fans, they start to dig deeper for themselves. If they don`t dig deeper, no harm done. I was so angry when Joe Rogan made fun of Elvis` karate skills that I unsubscribed from his channel. There were also other reasons, but making fun of Elvis gave me the rest. I hope one day he will feel ashamed about that, just like Anthony Kiedis is about his behavior at Graceland. Let`s be honest, Anthony always knew that his name would never come near Elvis, and that`s why he was jealous of him. People with such a disrespectful attitude always bite themselves in the foot. Jerry Lee Lewis had the same problem with disrespecting others, and he died an angry man who never got over the fact that he wasn`t called the King of Rock. Thank you, Dave!

I went to Graceland before the house was open to the public. I believe there was family still living in the house. It’s been a lifetime ago, but in my memory there was a specific time of day the public was a able to visit the Mediation Garden. There were not scores of people there back then. A small van drove us and 6 other people up to the garden. I was surprised where Graceland was located. In my mind I had thought it was in the country not directly on a highway. When we went there was a tacky strip mall across the street selling Elvis souvenirs. I went back to Graceland about 10 years ago. I was shocked how commercial it had become, but that is better than having it lost to history. I hope to go back soon with a girlfriend. She has never been there. It will be worth the cost to see her reaction.

It’s interesting that this guy said you have to rebel from those who came before you to make your own music, yet; I don’t believe Elvis felt that way at all. Elvis respected, and spoke respectfully, about every artist that came before him. I think, like you said, and the movies didn’t make clear, Elvis is so loved because he combined into one sound-opera, blues, country, rockabilly and gospel. He merged all of the things he loved into one sound that had the drama and vocal range of opera, the soul of blues, the rhythm of rockabilly, the yearning twang/vocal cry of country, and the hope of eternal life emotion and love for God of gospel music--Elvis merged these with passion and conviction and then let it come out through his whole body. He experienced music and when you listen to him you experience it with him. That is the magic of Elvis! Praise God!

In a way, she grew up in that house. She was only 16 when she moved in. Every time I hear him singing, I feel like he was communicating with her. It’s just the way he was. He brought life into the song by the way he felt its lyrics. And that was unique.

Also, I like how they say that others from the era are great and also, legendary because I feel that the late 1950s was a supremely competitive era for music. If you liked that potential and couldn't compete then we don't know your name today whether it be Little Richard, Johnny Cash, or Elvis.

I went to Graceland twice between 1978 and 1980. I was 13 and 15. At 13, I remember it as if it were yesterday. 9AM. Hot, humid Memphis, bright, low Memphis sun. Elvis' Uncle Vester was cutting Elvis' front lawn with a green John Deere push mower. He turned off the mower, came down to the fence, and started to talk to everyone. I still remember him saying, "Yeah, I'm his uncle. Vernon is my brother." The second time may have been 80, 82, or 83. I actually toured the house. $5 a head. I remember clearly two points: 1) On a pedestal was a 3-foot-tall stack of papers under a transparent plexiglass box. This was the stack of petitions signed by girls trying to keep Elvis a civilian. 2) The gold records issued in the 1950s were actually made out of gold. RCA actually pressed the song onto the gold disc. The guide stated "that if Elvis' recording career stopped generating money, he would never go broke because of all his actual gold records."

Our family stopped by Graceland in 1979... my dad talked to the security guy who happened to be Vester Presley, Elvis' uncle... he let us in and personally guided us through to the Serenity Garden and out by the front of the house... we had no desire to go further out of respect... he, Vester, was very humble and gracious... he walked out to the gate with us down the drive. We thanked him and that was that. Always wondered what my dad and Vester talked about... they literally were just two country boys having conversation i guess untill dad waved us over... And that's some of my Graceland story...

Ok you know the drill! Great vid as always! So first off, I loved the movie! I have rewatched it a couple times with friends and family. Its very special to me as I saw it on my 21st birthday! The opening was so magical. Anyway over the past 8 months I gotta say I feel like with my own research I know a lot more about Elvis, and while the movie was a great introduction for new fans and a great summary of his life, there was a lot of other important details missing, and some of the things in the movie went by very quickly when every event in his life could have been their own stand alone movies. And I honestly feel that the movie helped Elvis become part of the 21st century algorithm. He is now on TikTok, KZbin, Netflix, Instagram, Pinterest, Wattpad, etc. Even on Spotify he has over 20 million listeners a month now! And more and more people are just now learning about him, and he is coming back into our culture. Like I found an Elvis shirt at Target, found stuff in Thrift stores! My first Elvis item was the HeartBreak Hotel 68th Comeback Music box! And glad to hear Joe saying positive things about Elvis, as well as Anthony. I am very shocked with how he acted when he went to Graceland. Even if you hate someone you shouldn't be disrespectful in their home, but he seems sorry and sincere so.

I remember when graceland wasn't commercialized the first time I went there in 1983 he was right you could walk around the mansion the cars were parked in the back I sat in the pink Cadillac ect. We even spoke to Elvis's aunt who still lived on the property you could touch his army uniform. Though I still return to graceland for most Elvis weeks its totally commercialized now. Great video man thanks

I am a child of the 50's I saw him on Sullivan when i was 12, I love him so much and like you, I try to defend him every time I see a crazy reactor spouting bull about him. You are right the movie was a good tool to bring back his career and how he started, but in the same respect they left our his humanitarian side, all the charity work he did, all the houses, cars and Jewelry he gave away, and it makes me so mad that people don't know how he changed culture and music. I remember my little Red Headed brother wearing his collar turned up, like Elvis did. I got a full skirt with his autograph written across it. And finally going to 2 Concerts and seeing him, and his beautiful face was a life changing experience. People think all he did was sing in Vegas, and wear funny clothes, as one reactor said recently, but after he reacted to "If I Can Dream" he said, He can Really sing. Thanks Man.

I totally agree with you that this movie triggered something to new audieces. I have made a coat and emboidered: " Elvis forever". I got so many positive responses from so many people - old and young. We start a conversation. And the young people are really interested in Elvis and the periode lived in. The did not know of the political history Elvis grew up in. And I am proud to talk about Elvis and the sagregation. And how he crossed the boundaries between black and white people. And that to me is the heart of the movie. Because I witness that on TV. I was only 5 years old then but it left a lifetime impression. I am 65 now and I still carry those emotions with me. And it made me the person I am today. I am from the Netherlands. And seeing what is happening in your country today makes me feel really sad. But I can still dream.

I was one of those teens in the 70’s that thought it was strange for people to still be worshipping Elvis. I never did, I was in high school when he died and it didn’t affect me like it did with others. But now? I’ve become obsessed with learning about him here on KZbin. Wish he didn’t live the life of uppers and downers, maybe he would have still been with us or at least lived longer.

I knew the first time I heard him at 3 years old which is my first memories that I recall anyways. That was back in 1982 when my dad got a new stereo and speakers in the house he played the Elvis In Concert album. I got his greatness the minute I heard people talking and the 2001 space odyssey and him going into See See Rider. I was hooked but I wasn't allowed to listen to the radio. My next memory was hearing Kentucky Rain on the 1987 release of the Memphis record. By then I had a Walkman and I'd steal my mom and dad's cassettes and listen to him all the time. I remember crying the first time I heard suspicious minds.

It might sound great to many that Priscilla gave the movie her blessing. But the fact remains that she has changed a lot of Elvis history to suit her story. Beaulieu, the EX of 50 years, has been altering Elvis history to her liking to enhance her own role in it. She has claimed, among much other made-up stuff, that she was the one who brought "If I can dream" to Elvis' attention and that SHE was the one who designed the TCB logo. When they were still alive, many of the Memphis Mafia members stated that many things she said were untrue, including events that she claimed to have been part of (and often played a pivotal role in) at which she was not even present. They had enough of her BS but, sadly, she survived them all except Jerry Schilling who is totally in her pocket. I'm sure Elvis loved her for some of the time they knew each other, but in reality, she barely spent any time alone with him. They met in September 1959 in Germany and he returned to the US in March of 1960. He had turned 24 in January; she had turned 14 in May. Her parents consented in her visiting the house that Elvis lived in where he used to entertain his group of friends, hangers-on and invited fans. Meanwhile, he did have a girlfriend back home of several years, Anita Wood. Priscilla was the youngest of the several girls he saw while in Germany. There were about half a dozen others. But she was the youngest and, per her own words, they did little else than talk. She was an exceptionally beautiful young girl, but hardly as innocent as many Priscilla fans make her out to be. After Elvis returned to the US in March of 1960, Priscilla and her family remained in Germany. There she terrorized her mother and stepfather because she had only recently found out he was not her biological father. She went on a hunger strike, skipped school, and pretty much played Elvis and Mr. and Mrs. Beaulieu against each other. She told untruths about her home situation begging Elvis to save her by letting her come over and she made family life in Germany for her parents and half siblings hell. Her mother and stepfather played a questionable role in the development of Priscilla's long distance "affair" with Elvis, because it is not normal that they approved of her sending pictures of herself dressed in babydolls in seductive poses, to Elvis. That reeks of ulterior motives. Do you really believe the Beaulieu family would have acted the same way if Elvis had remained a truck driver learning to be an electrician? Pulease. The Beaulieus had dollar signs in their eyes when they pimped out their rebellious teenager. If they had really been worried or incensed and believed that all the initiative came from Presley, they could have stopped it right then and there. Yet, they didn't; they played along. After a few visits from Priscilla from Germany to Elvis in the US, she first moved in with Elvis' father Vernon and stepmother Dee in 1963 when she was close to 18, to finish school there, but after a while she moved into the main house. During these years, Elvis was away from Memphis a lot, making 3 movies a year in Hollywood or locations such as Hawaii. And during all these years he was also still seeing other women. Priscilla herself said multiple times they were hardly ever alone. According to Priscilla, Elvis had promised to marry her when she was 21. But as her birthday had come and gone and her 22nd birthday was approaching and Elvis still had not kept his word, Priscilla, her parents and the colonel (Tom Parker) visited Elvis on a movie set. Nobody knows what really happened there, except that some time during that visit, Elvis had a mysterious fall in the bathroom. The most logical thing that happened is that a threat was made that they would go public about Elvis "dating" a minor while in his twenties if he would not keep his promise to marry her. After all: Jerry Lee Lewis had gone through a scandal that people might be reminded of if the Beaulieus had gone public: Jerry Lee Lewis had married his 13-year-old cousin! After the visit of the Beaulieus and Parker to the movie set, all of a sudden everything escalated and a quick wedding ceremony was arranged on May 1, 1967 (23 days before Priscilla's 22nd birthday) in Las Vegas. The strange thing about that was not just the timing, but also that many people who were close to Elvis were contacted by Parker's people to not attend the wedding. The whole ceremony took , 8-minute, and afterwards they were ushered into a room for a press conference (listen to what the memphis mafia guys say about them getting married at the 24:33 mark of kzbin.info/www/bejne/pmnFnYKngJ5jhq8). You can hear what Elvis told about the wedding in the recording of the last phone conversation Red West had with him before he died "That wedding thing, that wedding thing. It was in there over and done with so quick. I didn't realize I was married." (kzbin.info/www/bejne/pmnFnYKngJ5jhq8). Priscilla soon became pregnant (some fans theorize that Priscilla was already pregnant, hence the tent-like wedding gown), but halfway through her pregnancy, Elvis already wanted to divorce her. 9 months after the wedding, daughter Lisa Marie was born, after which there was almost no physical relationship between Elvis and Priscilla. By then the 1968 Comeback Special had given a new impulse to his career and from 1969 on he was away from Memphis touring the US for an average of 200 days a year. Both Elvis and Priscilla had affairs during their short marriage. They separated in February of 1972 when Priscilla and Lisa moved to California and Elvis remained in Memphis. Elvis was livid that Priscilla left him for karate teacher Mike Stone (a married man) who only made 30 thousand dollars a year. The funniest thing about the scene in the movie where she leaves him and he follows her off the stairs (crying no less) is that it looks like they were the only 2 people in the house, when one of her main complaints about her time (married or not) with Elvis was that they were almost NEVER alone anywhere. That there were always relatives, friends, staff, members of the Memphis Mafia and even fans around IN the Graceland mansion. Elvis started his relationship with Linda Thompson in the summer of 1972. Elvis filed for divorce on his 38th birthday, January 8, 1973. The divorce was finalized in October of 1973. Priscilla rejected the name Presley and returned to her maiden name Beaulieu after the divorce, stating she wanted to be her own person. She even started a business under that name. But after Elvis died, she soon changed her name to Beaulieu-Presley and some time after that she dropped her maiden name and started calling herself Presley again. She had several relationships after her divorce. In 1984 she met Marco Garibaldi with whom she had a relationship for 21 years. They separated in 2006. Together they had a son, Navarone, in 1987. She never married Garibaldi, although she had a much longer relationship with him than she'd had with Elvis, possibly because she wanted to hang on to the Presley name. Interesting detail is that Elvis did not mention Priscilla at all in his will; not even as guardian of his only child, Lisa Marie. Elvis' cousin Billy Smith and his wife Jo have already said that so many things are not right as far as things concerning Priscilla are concerned. Linda Thompson is right: i.postimg.cc/hjYL9bkt/linda-thompson.jpg and Elvis' bassist from the TCB band, Jerry Scheff, doesn't hold back and tells it like it is: i.postimg.cc/FK2GdjDc/Jerry-Scheff-Elvis-movie-comment.jpg. Finally: Beaulieu did not save Graceland. This man did: soulrideblog.com/2019/01/06/elvis-week-2019-blanchard-e-tual-hero/

Being a die hard Elvis fan requires that you take a journey through maturity and the realities of life (especially for someone like him). This journey will expose you to the good, bad and ugly of his meteoric rise, and slow, painful descent into near oblivion. We all start out defending every aspect of everything he ever said and did, but some of us eventually come to grips with the fact that this man was just a mortal. He was flawed (as are we all). This is why I like your channel. There’s too much God like worship going on these days of people who are DEEPLY flawed. That’s dangerous on so many levels. This channel wasn’t created to worship Elvis. You appreciate his greatness without denying his faults or dismissing all the bad stuff as “fake news” or “lies”. Keep speaking the truth. Long live the King.

Every person that tries to "do" Elvis fails epically. Elvis was the entire package. There was this absolute physical beauty about him, masculinity, incredible voice and dance and rhythm, but what pushed him into absolute stardom was who he actually was, his combination of self deprecating humor and presence. His vulnerability was always apparent all the while he was blowing the world away with his talent.
