The way Monfils turned that tie-break around was insane.
@matmagix38454 жыл бұрын
ironically this was reverse of what happened the previous year. Monfils suffered two very tight losses to Nishikori in 2016 Miami QF (Monfils had 5 match pts including 0-40 on Nishikori's serve, lost in 3rd set tiebreak) and Rio QF Olympics where he lost having 3 MPs in the final set tiebreak. The Rio one hurt Monfils a lot, he double faulted on his MP while Kei saved the other two to eventual take the bronze medal against Nadal. This Montreal match probably was also what hurt Kei's wrist and shut down his 2017 season.

De Minaur played his best tennis and outplayed Rafa for basically the whole match yet Rafa still found a way. Testament to the man's fighting spirit. Even one of the hardest working, most competitive young fighters on tour on his best day couldn't out-fight Rafa. He didn't play anywhere near his best but it's like his spirit just wouldn't allow him to lose, he basically somehow willed himself to the win!
