Kevin Levin's dad, Devin Levin (really), was a plumber from the planet Osmos 5, at least according to the false memory. It was Proctor Servantis and not Aggregor who implanted the memory. Also, this retcon was the worst thing about Omniverse.

I posted this on an Ink Tank video, but figured I'd share it here too: Ben recreating the universe is basically Transformers Cybertron's "Unicron Singularity", a universe-ending threat with multiverse-level implications. They outright stated that any and all inconsistencies and retcons across ALL Transformers media, past and future, was "caused by the Unicron Singularity messing things up". Likewise, it's blatantly shown that Ben didn't make an atom-perfect recreation of his universe, there were a few alterations left behind, so that any future inconsistencies could be explained as "But Hey, Alien X!... didn't make a perfect replica". (And that's not even including the meta-canon meddling of the _other_ Celestialsapiens...)

one of my biggest hottakes among my friends is the fact that i adored Omniverse. it was so fun, and i loved all the aliens they made. i loved the undertown, and i absolutely adored rook. it might not have been the best, but it was such a fun series to watch.

The Rooter's arc was amazing, but the retcon is pretty messy... kinda like biting into a nice juicy apple, but you find a single worm inside it. The arc itself was great, bringing back the plumber's kids, the whole action, a new amalgam Kevin, Yes please. But Kevin not being an osmosian, when UAF had Aggreggor and Osmos-5 as a named place, and with Kevin's father (who's not Aggregor, kinda funny how you got that mixed up, but I'm glad you realized the error yourself xD) being such a rooted character in there, no pun intended. Hell, even Alan' father is mentioned, was he fake too? There are just too many things that don't add up unless you follow the cheap "it's technically another universe" route. Omniverse is better then people gave it credit for, but the retcons were disappointing to say the least... Nice video tho

I doubt Servantis got to Azmuth, Inspector 13, Aggregor and Kevin's mom, even Max, it just doesn't make sense for Osmosians to just not exist when there's so much proof to show that they do. Even Paradox I'm pretty sure refers to Kevin as an Osmosian, at some point, and there's no way he got fake memories. There are just too many holes in the explanation of fake memories to "not be a retcon"

Well, first his Dad was a plumber... Then Omniverse retconned that to be a fake memory. I don't actually know if they ever confirmed who or what Kevin's birth father was. Aggregor after the Omniverse retcon was a lab experiment created by the Rooters to replicate Kevin's absorption powers. But after Ben took off the Omnitrix, the Rooters just tossed Aggregor out to who-knows-where. I think they planned to, but Aggregor's retcon is never explained in Omniverse itself. It's explained in supplementary material provided by the writers.

To be fair, if we're talking genetic compatibility, it makes sense for the alien love interests to prefer Ben as their own species. He's also in peak form when he transforms, so he's theoretically one of the most attractive members of the species he turns into. Kai only liked Ben in the original series for his Blitzwolfer/Benwolf form because she thought she could tame him. And even after that, I'm pretty sure she has Blitzwolfer as Ben's profile photo on her phone instead of Ben himself. Sure, part of it is probably just teasing/joking, but still. And I can only imagine what fanfic writers did given that impression of Kai and Bens' relationship... And no, I don't want to know.

I know for Ben they wanted to have him come off as younger, hence why they didn't use his car after episode 1 of Omniverse. He got that tech-cycle thing later, but I guess that's more fantastical since it doesn't look much like a real-life motorcycle. Also, I know it doesn't matter much in the grand scheme, but I wish Ben was 17 in Omniverse. He's 15 in Alien Force, and 16 in Ultimate Alien, but he's still 16 in Ominverse. Sure, it doesn't really matter, but it implies that all of Ultimate Alien and Omniverse takes place in one year, which is just weird. They don't have a hard timeline of events of course (e.g., it doesn't cycle through seasons, holidays, or give definitive time gaps between each event), but it's always been a nitpick of mine.

Omniverse had a bunch of great storylines and all, but it killed my enthusiasm for watching Ben 10. The first episode where Ben accidentally breaks up with Julie made me hate the series for the way it ended a relationship that truly felt organic and reciprocated (Julie truly loved Ben, not Ben wolf), Ben in UA had storylines where he became a bit of an arrogant ass that began creating a rift between him and Julie which was understandable as everyone knew who Ben was by that time and responsibility was left hanging on his shoulders. The arrogant guise could be interpreted as a coping mechanism. In spite of this it didn't outright kill their relationship unlike the dismissive and frustratingly contrived BS at the start of Omniverse (a character who was a better love interest in every way since her introduction in AF (my favourite Ben 10 series) was ended in just mere seconds and that brought it down to the last few straws I had for the series). But my goodness what made me outright ragequit was the atrocious annihilarg episode, where the universe is completely destroyed along with everyone in it in the most dismissive way conceivable. Legitimately everyone apart from Ben died. Then he uses Alien X to recreate a duplicate universe with the absolute OP power it has. This brought me to the question, did he save the universe as he stated, OF COURSE NOT. He was unable to save the universe so he technically creates a copy to almost hide the fact that he failed as a hero and doesn't feel any ounce of remorse for it (which for the lighthearted-ish feel is understandable but it should have been handled in a better way other than, it the end of everything, everyone dies, it ends, Ben recreates the universe and all life with a duplicate and apparently saves the day. To me he didn't save the day, he just covered a cataclysmic event with jokes and still plays the hero. This is what made me rage quit, not because it wasn't an interesting storyline, but because all of the fun and cool characters I watched since the original Ben 10 show were all gone and replaced with a parody duplicate really upset me and the way the show was brushing it over made me outright detest the show irrespective of the great character development and storylines that followed. Yeah I saw episodes after that point, some of which were absolute classics (I had to pretend to myself that the 'annihilarg' episode never happened to watch them), but it was clear that the partially grounded and somewhat innocent, fun, and thrilling series that could be very dark at times and complex on other occasions that I loved about the classic series all the way to UAF was well and truly demolished by that one episode. I didn't even feel the character in Omniverse was the same character I followed from the start after this moment because it at times felt like it had at that point turned into a Parody. Then the part where they contrive the heck out of getting Ben to hook up with Kai who clearly is one of the most bizzarly written and downright weirdest characters who tries to present herself as a responsible and capable character in the series. The episode where Gwen tells her off and defends Ben in the original series was such a satisfying moment (yeah even in that series they eventually hook up, but by that point Julie didn't exist in the series and we can assume that in that continuity Kai may have had a redemption other than being an incompatible and contrived love interest as she was continually presented as in Omniverse). But instead we get Ken going back in time to further the current contrivances with even more contrivances to make sure that Ben x Kai is a forced canon ship as opposed to one which naturally progressed like with Julie. Since then I tend to view each different series to create several branching time lines: (Classic): (Original canon not including end of summer episode=>AF), (Original Canon including end of summer episode=>Ben 10000 of classic series), (Time Displaced Ben/Gwen 10=>The original plan for the omnitrix being sent to Max coming into fruition) (AF): (Seasons 1 and 2 happen=>Season 3) or (Seasons 1 and 2 happen=> a series that didn't happen where Ben didn't regress to a tryhard 10 year old trying to replicate the classic series feel but instead consists of Ben wanting to help out other worlds in a similar way to Omniverse but with a better direction and more grounded approach to that series (no annihilarg and Ben x Julie remains canon love interest and the world still doesn't know who Ben is yet, we can be introduced to Rook Blonko here)) or (Seasons 1 and 2 happen=> end of season 3)=>Alternate Ultimate Alien (where either Ben's identity is sill unknown or not) or (All of AF=>UA) (UA): (Season 1 to 3 happen where Ben makes the several arrogant and juvenile mistakes he made throughout the original but learned from them the become a better friend to his peers and love interest=> Ben 10000 with mastered Ultimatrix (as shown in Ben 10000 returns) and Generator Rex crossover and a series that didn't happen where Ben helps out other worlds in a similar way to Omniverse but with a better direction and a more grounded approach to that series (no annihilarg and Ben x Julie remains canon love interest, we can be introduced to Rook Blonko here)), (Seasons 1 to 3 happen where Ben makes the several arrogant and juvenile mistakes but doesn't completely learn from them nor does he become much of a better friend to his peers and remains a bad boyfriend to Julie)=>Generator Rex crossover and Omniverse (annihilarg and all) Following this structure of canon, made me more accepting of Omniverse, but it kinda makes me hope we can go back to an earlier series and have an alternate take on Omniverse that didn't have any of the deus ex machina nor jumping the shark storylines (like annihilarg BS) happening.

Honestly wasn't into Omniverse when it first aired, but I loved Ben 10 so I stuck through and watched the whole series. I hated the Rooters/Kevin retcon cause I thought it didn't make sense and I'm apparently not the only person that thought so. Even as I found myself enjoying it less and less, I was still disappointed when I heard that they canceled it after the season 8 finale. I was looking forward to a season about Ben, Gwen, Kevin, and Rook traveling the universe to explore everything. It sounded like it was gonna be awesome, and while the tone and art style didn't fully jive with me I still would've preferred they kept going instead of doing the reboot. Frankly, Ben 10 Omniverse seems to have been made by someone who _hated_ Ultimate Alien Force. Ben regressed to _almost_ how immature he was in the original series, they did a dumb retcon to the alien hybrid kids and Wyatt even claimed Ben didn't re-create Primus when the Annihilarrgh destroyed the universe (not that it mattered because the version of the Omnitrix in this show doesn't even need it). Also Alien X's _one weakness_ is just not a thing anymore. Course celstialsapiens aren't omnipotent when fighting each other in this show (and they _all_ also can function normally, which goes against how they're supposed to work) but that's not much of a weakness in the grand scheme. Other than all that it's a generally fun show. 7/10

It was the same crew that worked on UAF tho. And there's so much love for the UAF era in Omniverse too. You got the UAF aliens, and they get cool moments to shine. Maybe not all of them but they had enough time to shine in UAF itself, as opposed to the original series aliens. So many villains, even the one offs like the Incursians expanded upon in character and lore. Psyphon is great, Argit is great, the Vreedles are iffy for people but they're still in character. As for the plumber kids, the retcon makes more sense. I refuse to believe the magma, fire and rock guys are breedable. And it also doesn't make sense how it isn't a hybrid but a transformation. So making Kevin the reason, who was already able to transform into aliens is clever. Yeah, the Kevin retcon is a bit sloppy but the story in that arc is great. Plus that story was written by Dwayne McDuffie's (the show runner of the UAF era) wife and best friend. And again, same crew. They wouldn't shoot themselves in the foot.

@@marocat4749 I think Alien X was more of a joke alien than anything. He was overhyped in the advertising but ended up being a statue with two appearances. Even the show jokes about it in a meta way. So he wasn't exactly a last resort, he was just useless. Then Omniverse showed his potential. Such at the universe recreation scene. The comedic tone of that episode is playing with the viewer's expectation on if the threat of the universe erasing bomb is real or not. Then as the countdown happens, we get Alien X, which we have previously known as being useless. So it makes us think the countdown might just stop at the last second. But no, it actually happens. Then Alien X finally does something. Recreate a whole universe. He went from 0 to 100 real quick. I guess that's a bit unrelated but I thought it was meat. Point is, if he has Alien X doesn't mean he has to use him all the time. But yeah, kinda takes away from the stakes so honestly it would have been better if Ben didn't get full control in the long run. As for Julie and Ben. Honestly their relationship was a mess for no real reason other than cheap drama so it was better to break them up. Plus, Ken 10 has to happen. I say he's important to the lore and has potential to be a great character. He was pretty cool in Omniverse but I feel like we didn't get quite enough. Making Julie his future wife means no Ken.

i whould say to check out the reboot as well sure it is a lot sillier, nonsensical and lighthearted but it also features some genuine good moments like Ben & Gwen's relationship, Vilgax being a lot more intresting, the new villains range from lame to silly to pretty awsome, the new aliens are pretty cool and then there are the finale movie and 3 specials a reboot take on the og movie (wich features a facinating take on Azmuth) a Generator Rex crossover (but this time Rex is also 10 years old) a Ben 10k special (with a pretty intresting future) and Alien X-Tinction (5 Bens, 2 Gwens & 2 Maxs need to team up, to take down a evil Alien X)

Gotta disagree with the Rooters Arc. While I'm not opposed to retcons, they do have to make sense. The Kevin retcon doesn't because you have to jump through insane hoops in order for Servantis' conspiracy to make sense. Osmosian being a term Servantis created is nonsense when you consider that Kwarrel, the guy who Kevin met before the Rooters, knew what Osmosians were. Or how Osmos V apparently doesn't exist even though Aggregor's initial plan was him going to that planet to absorb the Andromeda 5, which btw has coordinates. Azmuth, Paradox, Inspector 13, and Khyber knew what Osmosians were and recognized them as an alien species. Did Servantis somehow mindwipe them too? Yeah UAF did nonsensical retcons but that doesnt mean Omniverse gets a pass.

Actually, Ultimate Alien is when Ben and Julie's relationship was ruined. Ben treated Julie like shit a lot during Ultimate Alien. Omniverse just ended the relationship. I agree it needed to end but the way they did it was bad.

Changes to ongoing continuity do matter and should make sense. The Kevin retcon does not, since it gets more convoluted when you add in the fact that Max's memories would have had to have been altered too. Story consistency absolutely matters in long form narrative because without it, we begin to question the whole thing. If this part here doesn't matter or can just be changed on a whim, does this other part also no matter? So on and so forth. Change's must make sense and be consistent, without it a story falls apart. Comparing that to Greek myth and legends, stories that were meant more as allegory is not a proper 1 to 1 comparison to a long form narrative and hand waving away bad story telling simply because you like the product as a whole is not the role that you in this instance play as a critic.

Certain mistakes were made on Kevin. For one, Aggregor is not Kevin's father in Ultimate Alien, just of the same species ( genetic copy aged in reality ), his father is Devin Levin (false memory). Two, in the classic series the origin of Kevin and his powers are unknown, he is neither mutant nor alien, we do not know.

I remember omniverse getting a lot of hate early on from art style changes and kevin/gwen not being in the main cast, but after the first 20 episodes a lot of those same people started to come around to it. After the reboot, I heard a lot of people express appreciation for what omniverse tried to do. Personally always found it to be the underrated gem of the series with a fresh and interesting take, glad to hear it get some recognition in the comments here!

@ggnkrsfkoqxbk5078 (no offense taken lol!) the most obvious thing that women pick up on that men don’t is the change from tights and pants to knee socks- Gwen has always worn outfits that she can kick someone in without risking any anime panty shots. Omniverse has like half its female characters wearing skirts with knee socks. Another design element is the way boobs are drawn- to get that shape in real life one must wear either no bra or a very unsupportive bra and it would HURT to run in! Gwen would be in a lot of pain in real life!! One could argue she is sometimes only planning to attend classes, not fight, but other women (Kai, Julie, rojo, ester, etc.) are given the same design. Gwen’s design looking so painful kinda makes me sad lol, a lot of women have said that they find the way djw designs women’s outfits unfashionable, which is always a matter of taste, but the fact that they put Gwen in an unfashionable downgrade that isn’t even comfortable made a lot of viewers unhappy. (Btw thanks for being curious!!)

By the time Original series started, I was 13, by the time the Omniverse ended, I was leaving college, and I still would love to see a new iteration return since I'll still gladly talk about it to this day. I remember no liking Omniverse when it aired (I still have some issues with it), but the stories, designs, animation and cast won me quickly, and i'll gladly take more of it than the reboot series.
