The Churchill did have a few things going for it, especially in the later Mks. Good frontal armor, though the 88mm was always a bit much for the poor thing. It could survive 75mm shots from the front though, at medium to long range. Not talking the long 75mm though. Up-gunned variants which switched from a 6pdr to a 75mm did give those variants a better chance. That said the 6pdr wasn't complete rubbish, it dealt with Panzer IVs well enough, just not Panzer VI Tigers or VII Panthers from the front. Damn thing did use a lot of fuel though, its power to weight ratio was sort of buggered, it could really never reach its potential top speed and its size made it hard to maneuver properly in dense terrain or urban conditions. It did have good traction though, so yeah. Not a very good tank, but not the worst one either. I think if I had to describe the Churchill tank family in one word it would be "functional". If I did it in three it would be "functional yet lackluster". At least the engineering, spigot and mine-clearing variants did their job. They saw service in Korea, and if I remember correctly the last Churchill engineer tank wasn't withdrawn from service until late 1960s. Quite a long service run for a tank made in the 1940s. I'd say the engineering variants did prove rather useful. I'd rate it an average 4 on a d6. Neither here nor there.

Bad as it may have been, the Churchill was better than the Sherman! Also, the Tiger was renowned for being less reliable than nearly all the other marques produced by the Germans, their engine was not powerful enough for one tank to e able to tow another
