At 6ft 3 286lbs with freaky athleticism.. Brock Lesnar was the fastest, biggest and strongest UFC heavyweight we've ever seen, he won the UFC heavyweight belt in his 3rd fight and proved that not only was he a legit fighter but the baddest man on the planet at one point..
When Brock Lesnar transitioned from WWE to the UFC, many people thought he was going to get destroyed by the top heavyweights at the time but he used his wrestling background and size to dominant his opponents and became the baddest man on the planet in just his 3rd UFC fight knocking out Randy Courture. He propelled the UFC into the mainstream and brought alot of new fans over from the WWE..
He went on to defend the belt twice against a Prime Frank Mir and Shane Carwin.. However he would go on to lose 2 fights against Cain Velasquez and Uberreem, although he had a short UFC career he fought the best heavyweights in the world and he won 6 out of 9 of his fights and retired from the sport of mma as one of the greatest heavyweights in UFC history..

You need to stop the nonsense Brock Lesnar never fought anyone in UFC that was on a high level. Brock Lesnar flatout refused to fight Daniel Cormier choosing fake wrestling over a mega fight. Brock Lesnar wanted no part of Jon Jones just outright ducking Jones who challenged Brock on many occasions to a fight. Brock Lesnar has a very weak 5-3 MMA record . Brock Lesnar was absolutely destroyed by Alistair Overeem and Cain Velasquez proving that he was just a average MMA fighter at best.

@@xaviersmith4965 As much that Brock’s mentality in fighting sucks. Why would he even waste time promoting himself during his last appearance after the DC vs Stipe fight? I’d say WWE just wanted to pay him more and goes with the handsome deal. As for the Jones super fight that never happened truth of the matter Brock also wants it but he didn’t do anything about it but it’s different from ducking. Brock’s just a fickle minded person who never sticks to his own plans and that’s what I kinda don’t like about him is his fragile mentality. As for the competitions he fought on his time, I’d say there is quite the high level in its own standard during that era with people anticipated it as well. With former champions and hall of famers careers didn’t declined after their fight vs Brock shows that they aint jobbers. His Carwin fight is just the start of competition getting bigger but given if Brock didn’t have the disease I think he would’ve improve further and even gone toe to toe with Cain and Overeem. Finally Brock’s career would’ve been better than what it is right now if he didn’t have a fragile mentality, commits to mma from the start and keeps focusing to improve even further.

Brock was a great athlete in his prime (he still is even now at 44). It's a shame that he didn't start learning MMA right out of high school. He had incredible agility, speed, and power. His biggest problem was that he was unaccustomed to getting hit, and his striking had that stiff and labored look of someone who hadn't accumulated years of sparring experience.

MMA is definitely not completely different than high level wrestling though. It's actually fairly similar, and that's why Brock was so good, he had a legitimate background in one of the most useful and important aspects of MMA, in addition to being athletic and the perfect size for the heavyweight division (he was bigger than every guy he ever fought, because he always had to cut more weight than even other guys who weighed in near the 265 pound mark).

To be honest man I thought it was one of those one off fights when he went to the UFC and he'll get right back to the WWE, but actually seeing him win a few times and hold a UFC championship, that legitimized how much of an actual badass Lesnar really is and the WWE had a real killer on their hands, not only was this dude an absolute athletic freak but at least he fought in the UFC whilst still within his prime years rather than going to it too late. My favorite part of the Carwin fight is the context of it. Carwin is a strong striker. Any of us get hit, we're on the ground and probably forgetting our memories with each strike. And Lesnar clearly was also affected and in a way he didn't expect. But... he just ate everything. Carwin just struck him until he was exhausted. Then Lesnar just got back up. How fucking terrifying. I can't imagine being Carwin, a guy who sees dudes die from one or two hits, and then see a guy the size of Lesnar eat everything, you're huffing and puffing, and he's now looking at you for his turn.

He was a large and talented athlete, who worked and trained hard, and who also took steroids. His background in elite level wrestling (college AAA) along with his size and athleticism, were always his biggest assets in mma. He was also the perfect size, cutting down from around 285 (maybe more) to the 265 pound limit, making him bigger than every opponent he ever fought, and much stronger, as he was never the kind of guy to be carrying around any excess fat. He was in the only division where they allow people of significantly different sizes to fight each other.

He was the perfect size for the heavyweight division, giving him a size advantage over literally everyone he ever fought (he had to cut a lot more weight than any other opponent who was near the 265 pound limit, and he also wasn't carrying around much fat, unlike most other heavyweights who weigh in at or near 265). He definitely took steroids as well, but he was a great athlete none-the-less. He had to work damn hard to get to the elite level that he reached in college wrestling, and he had to work damn hard to maintain that physique, as well as to succeed in the WWE. Furthermore, he worked quite hard to train for MMA, and definitely developed some decent skills in addition to his wrestling skills. He's still one of the best heavyweight champions we've had. Miocic and Ngannou are on another level though. In fact, Ngannou appeared to be a level above Miocic in their last fight, and he's still not as big as Lesnar (Ngannou is "only" about 265). Oh yeah, and much like Ngannou, Lesnar had a great chin (not surprising when his head and jaw are so big!).

Brock's career in mma didn't last very long but give him credit for being a legacy fighter. Meaning, he is one of those fighters like Anderson silva who helped advance the game. It took many guys to topple him, but when they finally figured him out, all the other fighters started to train using the same blue print. Which made the whole sport better. Brock is up there too for being responsible for advancing the sport. Before Brock the HW division was basically guys who moved and fought like they were heavyweights. But guys had to figure him out, so everyone turned into beasts. Now HW dudes move like LHW or MW guys used to 10 years ago.

I think what separates brock from a lot of other WWE guys who tried MMA was that he was already an extremely accomplished NCAA caliber wrestler. Once you have the muscle memory of something like that it is easier to learn stuff like BJJ or boxing. His insane size for sure helped things as well. I think everyone can agree though that he didn't do this for a publicity stunt, he wanted to be heavyweight champion. And he went in there and did it so mad respect to him.

For gods sake Dave Batista was more successful in the sport than lesnar was... lesnar knew zero actual submissions and didn’t know how to counter shit... also he was pretty much fed absolute nobodies who he could just throw to the ground and get on top of and beat the crap out of, the moment he went against someone who actually had defense and who he couldn’t just throw to the mat and get on top of he got absolutely wrecked

@Vipes Are you supposed to not use your advantages in a fight now or what? He was bigger and stronger than most people and unlike other noted MMA fighters of a similar mould e.g Bob Sapp had solid wrestling to back it up. Everyone carries weapons to deploy in the cage, in Lesnar's case it was the insane physical shape he worked to get himself into and the fact he knew how to utilize it in the most effective way against his opponents - by straight up mauling them.
