When do you recommend seeing a pelvic physical therapist after delivery?

Typically I'd wait until your 6-week check up with your doctor, and we usually don't do an internal vaginal assessment until you've had your 6-week check-up. However, if you're experiencing symptoms that you can't manage like pain or leaking, then you can see a pelvic PT before this point, but they may wait to do an internal assessment until later on in your recovery. Hope this helps!

@@bellystrong I didn’t even know the test is internal (although it is obvious now that you mention it) thank you so much for your answer 🙏

How soon after birth can I see a pelvic physio?

We usually wait until you've had your 6-week GP check for any internal assessments, but depending on what symptoms you're having and how urgent they are, you could go as soon as you like. At that point though any pelvic floor assessment may remain external until you've healed a bit more. Hope that helps!

@@bellystrong that's super helpful, thank you so much! My symptoms were mainly a very tight pelvic floor and not being able to fully empty my bladder. But 3 weeks PP now and it is starting to release.

Thanks for the video! It's a good reminder of what our body's go through during delivery. I had never thought about the wound where the placenta separates.

Right? Out of sight, out of mind, but it's an important thing to factor in :)
