Christmas wasn't cancelled at my friends home. She went from a household of 2, to a household of 14+ in a matter of moments. The power went out, so they fired up the wood stove and had their neighbours come over with the kids and sleeping bags. She does not have a large home but she made sure that everyone had a place to sleep for the night. With her gas stove she starting cooking, and fed everyone. Christmas Eve her husband got out the tractor and went to the homes with the Dad's and brought back the gifts they had for the kids so they wouldn't miss out. They also brought back groceries so that things that would spoil did not. She housed and fed them for 4 days until the power came back home. She was exhausted but happy all at the same time. Never discount the meaning of community.

Glad you liked it, it was a bit of a nightmare but, hey, what's the point of a KZbin channel if not to share the crazy stuff that happens.

Wow! I can’t imagine going through this! I live in western Michigan in the lower peninsula, and we do get our fair share of lake affect snow off of Lake Michigan, but nothing like this. Wonderful coverage of this catastrophic event. I hope you can get some sort of award for this. And beautiful music choices. ❤

I know you are ok but I am watching this thinking you need to go home and be safe. Thankfully you did. Merry Christmas!

It was weird, some of the video was from my drive home from work. I guess adrenalin kicked in after rescuing a couple of drivers and dropping them off at home. Even though I went home to get more layers and another camera, I spent a lot of time checking the place for anyone stuck in it. I'm so glad we all came through it all ok.

Back in October, I went to a couple of open houses in Crystal Beach. Each one had a generator which is quite rare up here in Kitchener/Waterloo. I guess I now know the reason why. Hang in there this winter and keep warm. Merry Christmas.

Every year, we use to lose power occasionally, but that storm was the last straw for many people. A generator for many is an essential item now

It was a nightmare. I am glad our power was only out for 30 hours and we had plenty of wood to burn in our woodstove.
