My estimate for the traffic was "teens, tops". Seems like I wasn't too wrong. 3:00 To future prove things and maybe get another way to the industry, I'd have changed it into a 4 way intersection right then and there. But those lane mathematics take next to no time at all so there's that. 9:16 same with this one. 13:49 it was just a matter of time for that connection to go, wasn't it. 19:45 maybe tunneling under the winter market would have been an interesting alternative? I know you don't like tunnels that much but at that place it could have been an interesting solution esp. as there's a small hill anyways. 21:15 "Spaghetti Central" certainly needs more noodle nests with connecting lines of sauce if you catch my drift. Too bad you didn't reach 80%+ but incredible job otherwise. I guess spreading out the industry, adding better train acces and maybe putting busses back in, would have done the job.
@heygek27692 жыл бұрын
That remaining 20% was mostly because of the city design, those long roads all connecting to the main road creating a lot of junctions. I think the video contains enough info and tips for the original builder to fix it himself. Although let's be honest, if he's been watching Biffa and still builds his city like this, then... i don't know.

Overpasses and bypasses and local highways are hardly a very good solution Teach me in the ways of multi-use developments

spread it out, create multiple smaller clusters of industry/commercial instead of having it all in one big zone. Also don't try to fill everything up, leave small gaps and parks everywhere and use the tree brush
@OldManBadly2 жыл бұрын
Your traffic fix videos are always a lot of fun. First it's interesting to see what other people are doing and trying to figure out how it happened, why, etc. In this case, I think a whole lot of the traffic problem was related to the toll booth and not having a connection that went right to where people wanted to go. So many people wanted to go in and head left, and none of the roads supported it. Anyway, a suggestion for you. How about making a Biffa Traffic Challenge Map? Give us something to try to fix, give us an amount of time, and let's see who gets the best results.

Just had an idea, maybe you have explored this before… you could place a toll booth next to a freeway with heavy truck traffic to create a “weigh station” and use traffic manager to restrict the truck traffic through the toll booth. Would it have made any sense to create a truck only connection to keep their pathing under control? I have seen “truck routes” used in the US to keep truck traffic away from residential areas or downtown areas.

every time I see a pedestrian bridge that you put on the roundabouts I get a cramp in the brain, just two tunnels that meet or keep a street that uses the city street as in reality with the distant pedestrian crossing of at least one car or two
@Ghrathryn2 жыл бұрын
Pretty sure it's variable. I think there's some in Birmingham or London that do the bridges, I know the closest dual carriageway has lights on one of the smaller roads, but underpasses onto a bridge for the roundabout due to that having a car underpass for those wanting to go straight. Others simply back the pedestrian crossings off from the roundabouts a bit.
@kaltaron12842 жыл бұрын
It really depends on the city. Some in Japan for example seem to prefer overpasses. Of course with stairs instead of ramps as those can be steeper. I had a bad experience with an underpass in an unfamiliar city (Matsue) once. Messed my direction up by 90 degrees and had to walk a whole lot further. On a day my feet were in really bad condition (new shoes).

With big enough page file + RAM it won't take so long to load. On my previous city I got my loading time from 20 minutes to 5 minutes. Mod Compatibility Checker Tool can help with the errors.
