He might not be on Batman's level of leadership, but he is a pretty decent leader.

Doomsday alone defeated most of the Justice League, with Superman almost dying to stop him. It's no wonder Superman opted to be proactive with his next approach with Darkseid rather than reactive.

Yes indeed. He let his emotions get the best of him and to be honest, if not for the Trojan horse in Cyborg, Superman and the JL might have actually got the jump on Darkseid. Even after his defeat on Apocalypse, he still didn't give up. The moment he and Raven shared when he stopped her from killing herself would always be my favourite scene in the whole movie.

Honestly, Superman was 100% in the right here. They had _just_ finished dealing with Darkseid's _3rd_ attempt to conquer Earth. Each attempt causing massive amounts of damage. One of those attempts left Superman himself so weakened that everyone thought he was dead. They _needed_ to deal with Darkseid, because if they failed to defend against his attacks _once,_ it was over. Mind you, Superman showed he was capable of going blow for blow against Darkseid in a 1v1, and in the first movie he showed he could match his strength, and they had no way of knowing that Darkseid managed to upgrade the Parademons with Doomsday's DNA. It honestly makes sense for them to think they'd be able to take down Darkseid now that they had even more members, especially now that they went from one kryptonian to one kryptonian and a half.
