Hi Melvin, Thanks for your content & channel. You're actually a big reason for me not getting a hair transplant and instead trying to reconcile myself to a shaved head. I mean that sincerely and respectfully too. I appreciate you showcasing the reality of hair transplantation surgery (the illusion of density over density and the need to play catch up etc). You dispelling a lot of the romanticisations of hair transplant surgery is really a very positive thing. Thanks again and good luck with this current procedure. I hope the growth is fantastic. :)

Excellent piece. I had a transplant performed 01/27/22 and I am experiencing severe massive shock loss. Shock loss occurs in many, many patients as just about everyone that I know that has had a procedure performed unexpectedly suffered through a 4 to 8 month shock loss period and I am talking about over 100 men. I believe that shock loss occurs in much more than 5% of the transplant popluation as indicated online. I know guys that lost all of their native hair on their scalp and all of it grew back within six to twelve months. It is imperative to be mentally prepared for this and to understand that this phenomona is temporary. It should absolutely be discussed more by surgeons and I don't know what it is not.

Great video with some important things to consider. I'm scheduled for my HT (4500 grafts) in two weeks, but I decided to use an expensive and well renowned clinic 10 minutes walk away from home after learning about the strain of travelling and lack of attention after the procedure that many experience. They include regular checkups on site and four prp treatments. Not cheap but hopefully worth it in the long run. I'll also try to get used to sleep elevated on the back beforehand to make that process easier.

I planned my second transplant 1 month before I started building my custom house. I'm so busy the months are flying by, and when I'm done I'll have a new house and new hair. I don't want to try to date during this time, so I just work 16 hour days. Use your time positively, start a business, build a house, take full advantage of the down time, because you'll want the up time to go date or enjoy life. Accept that your life is going to be a bit lonely and boring for a few months, but then you'll be in a far better spot.

Hi Melvin. Thanks again for taking the time to write a such informative piece. Are you aware of anyone that did not recover from shock loss of native hair? I have done a lot of research online and the consensus view seems to be that all shock loss cases recover. My surgeon indicated that he has not seen one case that did not grow back and he has seen multiple cases of severe shock loss.

I'm 1 month post op. Mine was a three day process to extract/implant 3000 grafts to the hairline/frontal area (1000 grafts per day). I'm sure my doctor thought I was a lil bitch during then numbing injections. The first day I didn't know what to expect so I sucked it up and gritted through it. The second day I gripped the armrests of the chair, held my breathe and told him to just do it and get it over with. By the end of the second day I was convinced I wasn't going back for day three. I was willing to spent the rest of my life with a f*cked up half done hairline just so I didn't have to take those needles again. 3rd day actually wasn't that bad though, I guess because my head was still partially numb from the two days prior. I have a year now to recover from the trauma before I go back to get the crown done. 😰😰😰
