As a full time detailer I agree with you’re remarks on the rotary and when to use it
@derrickabare99863 жыл бұрын
Hey luke . Why not do the 1st step with the rotary and then 2nd step the da ? I've been detailing for nearly 40 yrs . Grew up with a rotary . 1st 6 or so yrs had a old rotary out of the 70s . Heavy as hell . Went to a flex and on my 2nd one now . About 15 years old. Runs like a champ . Only in the last couple of years I've gotten into da's . Still find myself grabbing the rotary 1st . Keep up the great content.

I was taught from Toyota to use a rotary. I bought a DA down the road. I heavily back the rotary first then finish with a DA. You can make quick work with a rotary but the finish a DA leaves is amazing. It’s almost a fail safe method that anyone can pick up.

Never thought of DA. I only have rotary at work and i learned to use it for cuttingnand polishing.

A rotary will definitely cut to the chase much faster, but you must be mindful when using a foam pad to correct paint with a rotary. It will heat up much quicker than a wool pad, making it easier to burn through paint. I like to use the CSI method and correct it with a wool pad first, than finish off with a foam pad on really hammered paint.

Also for beginners, metal panels vs plastic panels. Metal panels can dissipate the heat better but plastic panels have very little notice before burn through/melting.

I have a question. why is it that people say you should always start if your a beginner with a DA? is it because its "actually safer"? I mean with a DA your speeds are actually faster that a ROTARY. Also from what I understand you can actully damage the clear or paint just as fast as a Rotary, is this true?? I have used smaller pads to do some small areas of paint correection. I used it with a cordless Drill. I also used the Meguiars DA system/ Attachment which you also use with a highspeed Drill as well. Even though this may not be as good as a true DA. I found that using a small pad on a Drill does a better job at correcting scratches or imperfections than using the drill and Meguiars DA attachment/system. So now I actually want to buy a True Rotary Polisher. I was told that I should stick with a DA instead as a Beginner. What are your thoughts?? Last what are some models you would recommend on both? Thank you.

Sonax cut max with a 21mm and microfiber pad will give a rotary a run for its money. I put the rotary to rest once I got my 21mm. There is still a time and place for rotary but for me it's obsolete now.

Hey man I have this same Grand Cherokee, any tips? I've never polished before and have already ordered the Dewalt you have here. I'm reading a ton before I jump in and planning on getting a panel from a body shop to practice on. Problem is I keep getting talked in and out of the rotary with every video I watch. I don't mind spending a little more time if I can get the same results more safely. What do you think I should do? Send it back? Can you recommend one?

Hey Luke! Would you be willing to do a video on how beginning detailing businesses don't necessarily need to buy name brand product all of the time? Obviously when it comes to protectants (waxes, sealants, ceramic/ graphene coatings) it is a different ball game but I see people buying Adams or ChemicalGuy's (etc.) degreasers, glass cleaners, car soap, and simple cleaners that can be substituted for a generic item. It is as if they are trying to run a business while spending as a hobbyist

Another great video Luke. I haven't used a rotary before and something I always wanted to learn. I have rupes compounds for their DA but do I need different set of compounds if I start using a rotary?
@Suspicious0ne3 жыл бұрын
You can polish with water. Doesn’t necessarily matter if the product says DA. It’s a suggested use. I highly advise getting use to a rotary. There is a reason why they use them in auto body shops. But the finish from a DA with a foam pad is unbeatable IMO.

@@rogermendez7266 I’ve been using their 1000w DA and their rotary for years now and haven’t had any issues. I run a boat/automotive detailing company. But yes, if you have the money to get a better brand it is suggested.

A Rupes Bigfoot with a 21mm throw and wool pad will cut much faster than a rotary.

Da cuts faster, especially harder paint
@NeilRodríguez-z8k8 ай бұрын
There is absolutely no point in potentially burning paint edges splattering compound everywhere and worst of all HOLOGRAMS see with a rupes MK3 15 I cut even better than a rotary it’s a smaller diameter which will always cut better and faster and I don’t have to remove an rotary tracks it simply corrects and corrects only it dosent put defects in the paint while correcting they are useless in 2024 ! Rotary guys swear by it and that’s fine but while your correcting your holograms I’m already finishing lol

Why am I here?! I don’t care anything about this topic. Is it because Luke is hot and it’s sexy when he talks about “pulling his polisher”? Oh god.
