I recently learned the rotary and am following Yvan Lacroix 's methods (speed 1 to polish/compound) and I can FINISH better than I get with a DA, and NOT create holograms. I have also seem a DA burn through a paint finish A LOT FASTER than the rotary (same pad, same polish, speed 1 on the rotary and speed 3 on the DA

so a DA cuts faster than a rotary??

@@CirclesAreRound A long stroke DA will cut significantly faster than a DA, all other things being equal. Yvam Lacroix did a video using both under equal circumstances and used a paint thickness guage in microns to prove it

As a Detailer in the UK....I work with the rotary and DA exactly how you describe. Always have. Great vid

Never used a polisher before but decided to buy one to look after my own car , only using it for one-step and paint enhancement . Decided to go with a rotary cos it's quieter and less vibration, love it, getting good results aswell ,so I'm happy 👍👍

I have recently been amazed by how well my Milwaukee Rotary works with the Lake Country purple wool pad and 3D ONE to remove defects and wet sanding marks on vehicles that I am detailing. In my opinion much quicker and more efficient than my DA.

Some of us that watch your channel might be a bit older. Like mid 50’s lol, and are all the way from the other camp. The first time I saw a DA, I thought it was for wussies. I’m not a hack and never have been. Some time around Covid I was watching Wilson give a speech on how important it was to be able to use a rotary. I think at the time he was jumping on the CSI product line bandwagon. He had no idea what he was doing and his video was instructional. I mean with the rotary, not overall detailing and this is in no way me taking a shot. It’s I have found most people don’t actually know how to use them and the tool doesn’t burn paint. Carelessness does. Thank you for the post. I hope a lot of people love it and learn from it. It’s a wonderful and versatile tool and every detailer should learn it. Thank you again.

Great info. I’ve been busting my ass with my DA trying to get these swirl marks out. I got probably 70% of them but I want them all gone! Looking into buying my first rotary now. 😅

Thought I was gonna try jobber for starting my detail business but unfortunately $300+ a month is crazy for someone starting out who has no income security. Kinda disappointed as I was excited to use it. Maybe once I get steady work/ clients

Are those seat bolts torque to yield bolts. They might stretch and cause problems.could be a liability .just trying to help.

that's my point exactly. If you do things right, the less problems you'll have. Whether it's using a streamer, cleaning an engine, removing wheels, or polishing paint. You can damage anything if you don't take the right steps

Come on Oscar…you’re explaining this in a wild way… rotary DOES cut through exponentially faster. Best example, if it didn’t, then you would be able to use a da on gel coat… if you’re experienced and not a rookie then yes they make the job quicker and better…but to tell the rookies that are watching you to learn…bad info. Remember, most of your audience is not very experienced. You’re the go to guy for a learning source to rookies. At least in my case my first few years building were based off knowledge I gained from the 100+ pod cast episodes. If you have a vehicle that’s got old types of clear, or a car that’s been polished a lot…it literally does happen in seconds. IM NOT SAYING ROTARY ISNT GOOD. I love it. But you shouldn’t say it’s not dangerous…you have to be careful if you don’t know your shit

ah, sorry. that's why I said every tool can be dangerous if you don't do it right. But that doesn't mean any less that you should be scared to use it

I'm not a professional detailer, I mostly just do my own fleet of 6 cars and I buy & sell a bit. I would love to learn how to use a rotary but have always worried about wrecking the paint on my cars. I polished and ceramic coated a friend's 1999 Corvette in exchange for winter car storage, despite only having 20k miles the paint was very heavily swirled and it had hard the hardest clear coat I have ever encountered. A rotary would have been far faster than my DA, it took me hours.

DAs cut faster. Keep a rotary at it's lowest speed and you will get fantastic work done safely.
@Ichabod_Jericho5 ай бұрын
It’s mostly the high speed heavy pressure people wanna shy away from. It will work far faster than a DA, and finishing is easy if you put it barely above its slowest speed.i also found DA’s more comfy on the arms, shoulder and body. Rotary is always dragging you somewhere so it takes more effort to keep it where you need.

@@Sasquatch_by_Day I have seen Ivan Lacriox do it twice and one long day when I bored I proved it to myself. Put a DA next to a rotary. Same paint same compound and work them at the same time. DA breaks clear first.
