I showed them that I have it and asked if they want to take it, if I should put in the car or if I should just unbuckle the belt and let it drop. No drama, they said "put it in the car, please", I did it, everyone was happy. In short, when cops start asking questions, don't be a dick. Imagine it from their position, they want to get out of there as fast as possible and get some coffee and donut. Even if you don't have to show your ID, it can be the difference between getting yelling cops for 10 minutes or just hearing "thank you, you are free to go" and being done in 10 seconds. And if you have anything that even vaguely resembles a weapon of any kind (even a steel pen), just let them know. You never know if that cop is coffee fueled wreck that is doing his 6th 12-hour shift in row, who will draw a gun (cops are quite often understaffed, so this can happen). I know few cops and for some of them it was normal to sleep less than 4 hours per day for a week, so they were awake only thanks to coffee and sugar. They shouldn't do that for sure, but it happens.

As a female guns scare me. I don't even own a gun don't think I ever plan to own one. Maybe of held one once it was my dad's made us all 5 of us learn to shoot when we were kids growing up on the farm. He wanted to make sure we knew how to use it while he was away at work. I'm fine sleeping with a knife. The only scary thing that ever happened was when my neighbor evil dogs came over from 4 miles away killed half our live stock. Dad sat outside one night all night with his shot gun they dogs came back he shot and killed both of them drove them up to the neighbors called it in. I live in the UK where we have very strict gun laws. I've fired weapons as I'm ex-British Army. I know how to handle a weapon, how to clean and look after a weapon, and how to fire one. And I still wouldn't have a gun, because I know that I would use one if I had it. Even if I emigrated to the USA, and was allowed to own a gun, I wouldn't I've fired live rounds at actual people in combat, and it still gives me nightmares. The worst part is I'll never know if I ever hit anyone, or killed anyone, because real live combat isn't like Call of Duty.

People use what works. Or at least what they think would work. I've got cases in last few years (not a cop, but private security), when people I'm removing from the premises, threaten to call the cops on me. I always just say: "By all means, please do." Some do call the cops and then get hissyfit for some poor emergency call center dispacther, when they get told that police isn't coming and they can "do a crime report" (or whatever the real word for it is in english) if they need to. Best was when one idiot called cops and got detained himself. Some also like to pull race/gender-cards. Some have given threats to "kick my shit out when they see me on street". Some with some vague, spooky-ass lawyer... TL:DR People try to get away from the situation and little Princes/Princesses don't take no for an answer.
