So so true. My husband's family has been all about the baby and not really shown concern for me as an individual. My parents have been MY biggest supporters so far during my 1st pregnancy. So grateful to them ❤

Yes, it's important to see how mama and baby are doing. Mama is the one who went through pregnancy and even a bigger deal of pain, labor and then birthing a child. We should first see how she is doing, mentally, physically. Sometimes there are real concerns/complications, c section, etc. Even moms can pass away (and especially for poc, in which 80% of those deaths can be preventable but that's another discussion), still common in the u.s. We should also ask how she's doing in her postpartum days (and not pretending she should be herself after 6 wks and magically healed after since complete pp is a year or however long it takes you (someone can get ppd even a yr or yr and half later)). Although saying the common phrase, "congrats on the baby," is great. Also, congratulate her (for her journey of what she just brought into this world) and see how you can help her with herself or baby. A child is a miracle itself.

Oh, that would’ve been so stressful to be wondering why he wasn’t feeding and to find out after the birth. Sending you love. ❤️ you are so strong 💪

Do you know why your baby was born with a cleft lip? They couldn’t see my baby’s profile during my anatomy scan
