This is the best plan. My brother borrowed from me and never paid me back. I really didn’t care, but it impacted his behavior toward me. Why him failing to honor his debts led to him resenting me is something for the mental health professionals to sort out.

People have resentment towards others that hold power over them. You now hold power over him, even if you say you don't.. in the back of his head you own him. Even if they're the ones that got into this mess, it's YOU that's a constant reminder of that.

Your brother is a narcissist that's why. It's also the same thing when a druggy lives on someone's couch for free and slowly begin to resent the owner of the home, all because they feel like a leach so they have to "feel better". So they begin crafting narratives about the person who housed them. Shit like that. People do it in many aspects of life. Narcissists are littered everywhere.

Years ago my husband’s cousin (they grew up like siblings) asked him to borrow money when he invited her to meet our first born. He gave it to her and told her no need to pay it back. (I heard it myself) I guess she intended to but couldn’t and started avoiding him like the plague. He tried contacting her many times, left messages if it was about the money he didn’t care and he went unanswered. The last message was to meet our second child. She never responded or met her. About 20 plus years later we found out she had been telling family that he was harassing her for the money. I think she assumed they all knew and wanted to make him look like the bad guy. But he never told any of them. She tried reaching out a few years ago and he wants absolutely nothing to do with her. Out of everything that she did what hurt him the most was that she was never a part of our kids’ lives over money he never expected to get back.

We have family that all works hard, shares, loans, whatever, and we ALL always pay it back. If they wont accept interest, which is fair, we all find other ways to pay extra...homemade artisan breads, home-raised eggs, fancy desserts, crocheted items, homemade artisan soaps, home-cooked meals, etc. We always find a way, as it's out of love and respect, and there are 9 of us kids. ❤ But, our spouses?!?!? This was a great video. I am so used to just making sure the bills are taken care, which gives me extreme satisfaction. I get used to not having extra money and I find there is always something to do, even when you are broke. You can always make someone smile. Especially children. Adults sometimes, but they can be more poopy than the kids 😂 that being said when you get used to not having money you dont miss it that much and you have to find that joy in your life regardless. Not being able to pay your bills is entirely different for me that's hell on earth. I also find when you stay in your power and in the moment then your chances of success grow exponentially. Keep an open mind as there ate many ways to accomplish a goal. I like to focus on the task at hand in the moment and not so much the outcome.

If you're going to lend people money, make sure you get a signed promissory note with specific details about repayment. If they don't pay you back, then you take them to court. The situation that you’re explaining is different than someone pitching a business idea to a venture capitalist who happens to be in your family. I don’t blame Kevin and I actually think it’s very good advice… however, if I was that family member and I really believed in my idea, I would say thank you and refused the money. I would try to find the money somewhere else or a different way of making it work… I would not accept money. You’re talking about his family member coming to you who is in trouble.. different ballgame than he is explaining. He is also talking about family members just trying to use him… there are people who legitimately just need investor… but you’re definitely better off doing it without family. But there’s no way I would take one dollar from him if I was his family member and he said that to me.

Linda, here is a clue that you may have the Spiritual Gift of Giving. Each gift has a pro and a con. The pro is that you are willing to give the shirt off your back to help a person. The con, however, is that it irritates you when someone ASKS you. Isn’t this interesting ? I, too, have this particular gift. And I learned what I just told you in a class at church.

This comes only from faith in Christ. God bless.

It depends on what kind of family you have. Things can be good or bad when it comes to money and business. With my family, we never ask each other for money; instead, we always hire one another for work instead. For example, my uncle has a small fencing construction business. We needed new fencing, we paid them, and they got the job done. They got what they wanted, and we got what we wanted. Everything was awesome! We always create jobs for one another so that none of us feel like we are taking something from each other. In my family, you can walk away with money you earned. It's a very satisfying feeling, versus walking away with money you feel like you owe to a family member. Right now, I got grass to mow. If you were a family member in need of money, I'd offer you a job to cut my grass. That's how things are in my family.
