From someone who is used to the "hipster retro" look from Fuji, it's understandable that they don't like the design, but for someone like me that is a fan of "retro futurism" this camera looks unbelievable beautiful

Actually this GFX does have similarities to some of the old film cameras as well - the large 'prism' on top totally reminds me of my old Nikon F3HP, whilst the general angular design language is also a throwback to the older Fuji 645 medium format film cameras (which arguably, the GFX is).

Honestly not trying to fight you -- i'm genuinely curious, as someone who works in more "traditional" film/tv content -- but why do you think Netflix is boring? Is it that the content is too homogenous? Or that you find short form content on YT to be generally more pleasing to consume?
@samforster1794

Aware you didn't ask me, but shall give my two cents anyway. Netflix has released some of the best series of all time, it just feels as though these days there's 15+ garbage shows for every 1 that's actually worth watching - almost making it feel like you're looking for a needle in a hay stack. I also feel as if Netflix is still relying way too heavily upon viewing levels on great shows that are now 3 to 7 years old. Narcos, Prison Break, Breaking Bad, the list goes on. Ultimately I think Netflix still releases shows with insane popularity, just with noticeably fleeting regularity these days. @@_mixedsignals

Plus as you say, there's still a lot of people who will happily sit down and watch films with 120min+ run times, but it seems as if the vast majority of individuals are flocking towards short format content - Tiktok/Instagram etc with 30 second run times. Inevitably attention spans to watch Netflix shows/films will continue to deteriorate. @@_mixedsignals
@SamuelJamesVideos
@SamuelJamesVideos Жыл бұрын
@@_mixedsignals I'll chime in and say that most modern content is just too cookie cutter and toothless. The reason people love things like short form and reels is because it's real. There's life and a sort of patina to the content. Things like netflix and hulu lack this because everything is just made and meddled with by a board of suits trying to maximize profit and appeal to the widest audience possible to rake in the almighty dollar on a mass scale. It's the same problem that most subjects funnel down to now a days - greed ruins everything. You can't create art if all you're worried about is "how many people will pay to watch this?"
@johnnyrocks9
@johnnyrocks9 Жыл бұрын
It's just unoriginal stories with random directing and art direction, everything is built as a product to be marketed, and not as a story that's interesting and entertaining. Oh and also woke shit, all, the, fucking, time. I want to watch a good film, no be lectured about gays and black, I'm already not homophobic and not racist so shut the fuck up. There is also no cinematography anymore, no composition, no character, no pace, just a show or a movie that will do well in a trailer for KZbin to hype people but it's actually empty. Is that enough ?

@@romank90 The problem with compressed RAW internal is that RED still holds patents for it. The only true compressed RAW you can get currently is ProRes RAW with the Ninja V and whatever cameras that still shoot cDNG, which are massive files. I love how you make these videos watched your content, but I just noticed on how you just love fuji so much that it sounds biased, now im a fuji shooter as well. (I previously shoot Nikon) switching to fuji is so easy because of the same ergonomics, its just funny that after you say that Fuji have some film replications and has one of the most beautiful photos out of the camera etc etc you proceed to plug in your Lightroom presets. so which is which? cuz there are times that I prefer my photos on my old Nikon d700 rather than my XT4... im just being honest here. also I just hate the fact that fuji hasn't been friendly on its files. not like NIKON OR CANON OR SONY that you don't need any other apps to open or even read its raw. I hope they change that, and charging its batteries. I would want some external battery charger rather than plugging in my usb C to charge its batteries. nonetheless beautiful video as always

Exceptional work as always! I'd love to get my hands on this camera, ideally with a Mitakon 65mm f1.4 for stills. But to buy as a hybrid, I'm not convinced of its video capabilities, with sensor crop and/or significant line skipping/pixel binning needed to make such a huge sensor work for video. It's understandably full of compromises for video, whilst also being a significant step forward, for which Fujifilm should be commended. I'd really like to see Fuji bring the video capabilities and evf of the GFX100 ii to one of the GFX50 series, as the lower megapixel count would almost certainly work better for video (whilst still being huge by most cinema camera standards).

I make mine 5 layers deep. But all depends on how hearty your gravy is 👍🏼. Hope that helps. Oh and if you add oregano, and mix seasoned ground beef and mild Italian sausage it sets off store bought sauces.

The GFX 50r ruined all other GFX cameras for me. It's the system as a XPro on steroids and it looks/handles amazing. Unfortunately both copies I tried failed 😭

Back earth please. When I upgraded my original 50S to the original 100, YES, that was truly an upgrade. A radical new camera in every way, 100MP vs 50, PD AF vs contrast, 4K video vs 1080p, IBIS vs none. Now from the 100 to the 100II? This is no upgrade nor a "new" camera.. this is called a REVISION (and a bland one at that) no matter the hype or the marketing hoopla. and I say this, especially because the main upgrade on this camera is on the video side as it's capable of shooting 8K, which is completely unusable.. its cropped to a smaller area than a full frame sensor, camera, and its unwatchably wobbly beyond any acceptable practical use.

Why did I watch this!? Many many years ago my first job as a Pro Photographer was in a studio with a Leaf Digital Camera Back mounted to a Fujifilm medium format body. It was amazing and I have missed medium format digital ever since. There is nothing quite like it and I can't imagine how much better this camera is compared to the old Leaf DCB.

I love your videos!!! ❤ always so glad to see you drop one. Everything is just so damn cinematic and well thought out - you are beyond incredible. Pushing boundaries to camera reviews. The passion and case that goes into each video. This one is by far my favorite! Thanks so much for making this video and for constantly being an inspiration.

IMHO, I would personally disagree with your statement that fuji has the best SOFC colour ... i would go for hassel x2d if that's all i am asking for...

Lovely video! Do you have thoughts on the 100S II? Would you still recommend the 100 II over the 100S II?

Imagine buying a medium format camera just to use preset editing in camera. It's a cool party trick but any photographer leaving 50% of the photo to the in-camera editing is like using instagram filters for your art. It's just wrong. (also it makes the entire "quality" point moot, as you can't have "quality" and "preset jpg colours" in the same space.)

The question is, will you replace your Sony or other full frame with this fuji "the best" for video shooting? Doubt it. Will you buy this camera for pure still image shooting, or should I say, "taking pictures"? Why not x2d at that price?

Even my XT3 changed my world when it came to shooting. Rarely even touch RAW files these days unless it's a wedding or professional session. Only modern camera brand that gives me the same satisfying feeling as using my old Olympus 35mm film cameras. Also very beautifully crafted, unlike Canons that literally make my eyes ache and water. Im very style forward by nature as an artist and the manual dials on the XT line gets my rocks off. It's also funny laughing at Leica stans, let's be honest. Beaten at their own game for less than half the cost.

GX Ace I'm a newly established fan of your content and you have my BRAVO, but I want to ask a question about this video. Where is the first location with the black sand that a man is walking through and what's it called? Thank you
What makes this camera worth $7500?
