same , tho there are exceptions like Prey 2017 , where technically if you look at the game deeper , killing everyone would be the "good ending" especially if you let yourself die at the end scene so monsters will never reach earth , but its just simulation . similar thing happened in one sci-fi book i love. (quick summery) where exploration ship went to planet , something evil took over some of the crew and captain primed reactor core to self destruct(eventually after lots struggles) he knew he had to do that as if ever the evil beings would reach earth , it would be end of the humanity i sometimes like to imagine it would be cannon happy ending when i play it.

The problem with most "evil playthroughs" in games is that your "evil" RP options are generally of the "rabid asshole" variety, rather than the "self-interested sociopath," who just does whatever is needed to get what they want. If there's a way to play the latter, it almost always turns out that the most expedient way to get what you want is to help the agreeable people and kill the jerks, and then you end up playing the "good" route by accident.

Speak for yourself. In fallout 3, I played a money grubber and did things like turn in Mr Burke, take Lucas Simms assault rifle and armory key, killed Mr Burke, take his silenced pistol, and then use the key to take everything in the armory and sell it. Or side with the ghouls at tenpenny tower so I could take all the caps from every vendor and get the ghoul mask, and then sell the store items back to the new vendors.

I was convinced I’d be evil in Skyrim, until a homeless girl asked if I could be her father. I dropped everything to raise money for a house, just so I could adopt her. Then I found out I could only adopt two kids. So I found a mod that let me adopt six, got all the kids off the streets, and adopted two more after killing their abusive father. Long story short, I suck at being evil.

Evil choices in F3 give the player the most caps and best gear. Ghoul mask and Callahan's magnum spring to mind. But neutral karma is arguably the best gameplay wise.

I blew up Megaton and solidified my choice with a save, ONCE. Two in-game weeks later, my swanky Tenpenny suite was overrun with ghouls, all the residents and merchants were dead, and no amount of backtracking could prevent it. I had to occasionally clear out the tower for the rest of the time I played that character, because they kept respawning. I'd sealed my belongings in a dungeon, essentially. 0/10, would not recommend. And yes, I absolutely SLAUGHTERED Roy Phillips and his band of murderous thugs for this slight. I take lives, not Ls.

I'm on my first ever playthrough of New Vegas and the first thing i did was kill the shop keep in goodsprings because i didn't like his face. I them proceeded to kill everyone in goodsprings (except Easy Pete) and now I'm currently killing my way across the wasteland. I have laid waste to entire towns (without even letting them speak a single word) no matter the morality or faction affiliation (just now killed my way through Helios One) and now I'm killing my way to the New Vegas Strip where i will kill more. It's the most fun i have had in fallout.

I joined the dark brotherhood, sided with the vampires in Dawnguard... and then ran into the little girl I'd adopted in my first playthrough who was back to being a beggar on the street in this universe. The only things that give Evil karma I'm willing to do without hesitation are killing House, stealing Old Lady Gibson's unique shotgun and any skill books I come across, and taking the Cannibal perk. I'd also be willing to kill Dr. Hildern, but he's in the middle of an NCR camp, and I don't want to kill the NCR soldiers. Most of them seemed like nice people.

If you want to do "helpful" evil, work with the Powder Gangers. They have a lot of questlines I feel like most people miss, because they side with Goodsprings in the begining, and fight any other Powder Gangers they meet.

I played a legion run recently. Did all they asked for, completed every side quest...was Cesar gratefull? No he still was a man child with anger issues. He didn't listen to reason and wanted every other faction DEAD. So I killed him and let Lenius take over. Knowing that the legion would break apart in the near future and that his lives work was for nothing.

He gets hella grateful if you raze the Mojave Outpost in Vulpes' quest "Cold, Cold Heart" and if you activate Helios One's Space Laser (things I do every playthrough before I get amnesty in Vegas). He also wants the Boomers alive, the Khans alive, and many others alive. The Legion will be every bit as stable with Lanius as Caesar as it is with Sallow if not more.

In fallout 3, I wanted Jericho as a follower, but I was a very good karma character and didn't wanna kill any civilians and Jericho needed very bad karma to be recruited. I solved it by going to Jericho's house(most of the time he isn't there) and stealing all pf hos belongings, every little thing I could to get bad karma, tin cans, teddy bears, abraxo cleaner. I feel like moral choices in these kinds of games should almost function as a sort of difficulty slider. Evil options are quick, easy, efficient solutions to problems. Good options are slow, difficult, and sometimes unintuitive. Later on there may be consequences that punish evil choices or reward good ones, but in the immediate the evil option is always easier. Not only is this somewhat true to life, I think it also leads to quality storytelling. A good character should be tempted to taking the easy way out "just this once" and possibly sliding from pragmatism towards self-serving evil. A character who's been evil and wants to start being good should feel like it's a punishing struggle.

To be fair it does KIND of work that way. You CAN just kill all the tribes all and say "They weren't open to diplomacy." but those tribes WILL help you at the end of the game... albeit in a minor fashion. Plus quest rewards can sometimes be worth it down the road (rarely in New Vegas since a lot of the Uniques can be found, but some of them are quest rewards)

I expected that to happen and just the idea made me laugh so actually hearing that sound effect from such a little thing would have made it better but it was still good. :)

If Fallout has taught me anything it is that I can be as evil as I want as long as I got enough purified water to drown a whale to give to a homeless guy to offset the evil. So go nuts with the evil choices just make sure the homeless guy gets his water to make you good again.

That doesn't apply to Fallout NV. An evil play through is actually a lot harder to achieve in NV though, mainly due to the fact that killing Fiends around the gates of Freeside earns you good karma. I don't ever want to avoid killing them early on either, because they often have decent weapons that can be sold for a fair amount of caps, such as Tri-Beam Laser rifles and occasionally standard laser rifles or pistols. :(

I play Tale of Two Wastelands pretty much exclusively ever since I found it so I can just go to the Capital wasteland and give the guy water if I want to. Fallout 3 still doesn't start for me even with the work arounds so Tale of Two wastelands is the only way I can play it. Which means I also get New Vegas as well so best of both worlds for me. I'm just a guy who was born in a vault who did the thing with Project Purity who then decided to retire out west as a mailman to keep busy which lead me to getting shot in the head by Benny and then it just keeps going from there.

I download mods to kill the Thieves Guild. Oblivion and Morrowind's guilds were nice, Skyrim's just a loose bunch of greedy cunts that are more likely to insult you and pick your pocket than anything else. Not too long ago, I tried to do a Reformed Dragonborn playthrough where my Dunmer character was to join the Thieves Guild, the Volkihar Clan, and the Dark Brotherhood before finding out they're the Dragonborn then being much more morally good. However, when I got to the first set of DB contacts. I had to assassinate the owner of the Dawnstar Iron mines, I couldn't get my arrows to hit her for some reason even though I really was trying. I took it as a sign that I really shouldn't join the DB ever.

I replayed fallout 3 and I was a absolute monster. More of a mercenary though but that also means if you give me something more better or convenient then I'd do it. For example: massacre all the minor factions, tell Harkness your not gonna turn him in to get his plasma gun but then tell Zimmer so you get the vats upgrade.

The more you play Fallout the more you realize the Legion is right lmao. Not in a moral sense but in a survival of humanity sense. The world is quite literally depleted of resources and both Mr. House and the NCR are operating under PreWar circumstances. The Legion allows humans to survive on some level because realistically one day the last bullet will be fired. The last power cell will run out. The old world infrastructure will fall apart with no way of repairing it. Even after Project Purity in Fallout 3 the Capital Wasteland is still a hell hole. Bar the video game's writers from magically creating more resources (I.E Divine Intervention) Something thats very lost on the newer writers. This is a series where there really isn't any hope. Nuclear war killed it and no Vault, egalitarian project, or social movement can really change that. The nuclear war ended it all and humanity is forced to merely limp on in one form or another.

And science was extremely advanced by the time the nukes hit, pretty sure nearly everything ran on plu^239 which while extremely radioactive has a half life of 12k years which means there is essentially infinite potential energy. If they dabbled with particle accelators enough they also have antimatter which is the most potent fuel to ever exist and the population decrease and existence of ghouls which basically need near to no resources slowed resource loss down heavily.
