I've certainly been idolizing my career for the past few years. Fortunately I've lost nearly everything and have been pulled closer to our Lord. I realized my idolatry when I saw Colossians 3:23 on a billboard. "And whatever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men."

I've really been wondering about what labour / work has done to me during the past years. As a born again christian I couldn't handle the difference between the "substancelessness" Jesus is talking about and the (artificial) material I am working on. So I started to respect the material because for the sake of quality. Work and material became more relevant in my life. But it doesn't make sense... How can I follow Jesus at one hand and focus on material (aircraft interior) at the other. By now I have no clue how to change my angle and perspective concerning work and faith... I really don't know how Paul the Apostle managed it.... Work & believe... Hope that's possible... May Jesus have mercy ♰=♥️ 🛐

@@carpentersson77 I see this as a simple hierarchy. Our faith and glorifying God is our first duty in life. Next is our family. Last is work and the material world. I'm going to start carrying the rosary in my pocket at work as a powerful reminder: every single thing I do at work should be in service of God and for his glory, no exceptions.

I'm idolizing work , desiring promotions , greater position. I'm proud of my job and my company. It needs to stop, I need to cut it out . It's getting unhealthy and destroying me , agonizing everything to me when someone treats me wrong or says something wrong , I go insane when something doesn't happen my way. It needs to stop . Thank you

I may have turned my profession into an idol. I asked myself if I would give it up for Christ if I was asked to and whenever I ask myself that question I find myself conflicted or at war with in my own mind. God help in this area.

I feel like everything gets in the way. I'm a new convert. How do I reconcile loving family, getting a job, teaching children, with loving God as my supreme treasure? How do I grow in my love in Jesus Christ? I feel totally hopeless and sinful. Help me God, help me believers.

Surrender everything to God in prayer and read the word of God as much as you can.. cast your burden on Jesus, He will give you rest.. tell him everything.. pour out your heart to Him.. Ask for the gift of Holy spirit our helper ...He is faithful.. Peace be with you

Simple, my pastor said it: (this is the best translation i can make, im brasilian dont judge me) Do it while searching for god. Ex: Teach your kids good manners by using the bible, and if they think it is wrong, tell the proof that what the bible says is real, like archeoligical proof, and, read the bible and pray in family. And job, that wont make you leave god, just dont make it your idol. Just work like a normal man.

Work is idol when nothing is accopmlished. An example is working for a boss that has goals and expectations that are unreasonable, unintellagable, due to the bosses non-existance. Just keep it real and one will have no problem.

Anything that takes up all of your time is an idol, The 9 - 5 system is an idol... made by satan to keep us too busy for God. We spend 90% of our lives at and for a job, Keep praying for a way out to work less and also for your self.
