Thank you so much for this video! This has always been my problem, my seed starts do good, then I fertilize them, they turn purple and I google why it's purple, it says I need to fertilize them so I do and then they die! It always discouraged me because it happened every single time, and I never though it was fertilizing wrong since I always used fish emulsion! So this was great. Strength:1 tbs per gallon of water I check them by weight if it feels light , I water a bit let the soil absorb it for bout 10 mins Thn come back and water slowly till I get slight/few drops of runoff and Thn set them down and if any water pools up I dump tht out after 15/20 min .. I hope I’m doing it right I think I’ll get some trays and bottom water from now on lol why do I make everything so difficult 😅

I am not sure on the product. Most likely they dont want you to over concentrate it and it will be in the seed starting mix a while. If you cut it in half you have a 7 phosphorus. I started fertilizing my tomato seedlings with IFA Grand Champion fertilizer 10-9-5. They recommend 2 TBSP for a monthly feeding but 1 tsp for weekly. I assumed that using the 1 tsp was plenty diluted but my tomatoes branches and leaves are all twisted and dying! My peppers are doing just fine but they are in larger containers. Should I dilute even more or just quit feeding the tomatoes until they start growing healthy again?
@THERUSTEDGARDEN3 жыл бұрын
Stop feeding IMO. I feed mine generally speaking with water soluble diluted to well below a 5-5-5. So I would stop feeding the tomatoes for sure. They have plenty. I am just not familiar with IFA. I typically use fish emulsion cut in half too and that's like a 2.5. .5. .5. With little starting mix you want little fertilizer to me there. Good luck. Sale for 10% off. Code 500K. Seems no one talks about the point of diminishing returns when gardening and such. IMHO if you spend more $$ doing it than you get back, what's the point in doing it at all? One year I spent $500 on grow bags, soil, etc and planted potatoes. At the end of the season I got 3 small to medium potatoes and a few marble sized ones. At $500 per pound of potatoes, it is not worth doing. Cheaper to just buy potatoes than to waste all that money. Same with many other crops. What is the point of diminishing returns?
@THERUSTEDGARDEN9 ай бұрын
Well first, I think we all have a learning curve. If you cant adjust and get more than marble sized, yeah it's not worth it. I just did a potato video today and launched it.
