Brave is an understatement. He didn’t even bother to prepare her for what to say, how to dress, behave or greet his family. He was too busy chasing clout if the situation blew up, which he knew it would. The only hero in this situation was his mother and the young lady for staying calm. Although she didn’t really have a choice not understanding the language or customs. His mothers welcoming grace saved the day. If I was that girl I wouldn’t just walk, but run to the nearest taxi to the airport and away from there and him if I’m being honest. Trust my girl as a Brown Jamaican of European and Black and a little admixture of Taino, Jamaica has prejudice also. I and other minority Jamaicans ( Brown, White, Indian, Chinese) have been treated unfairly regularly based on our appearance and complexion- this isn't rampant though. I remember one day a fishmonger told us , " she naw serve no Brown people " . We also pay higher prices at market, they say its tax. Also some Brown, Chinese and White families don't want no African son or daughter in law. Some Black Jamaicans don't want any Brown, Chinese or Indian as an inlaw either. Just to be clear, this is not as bad like other countries. The big exception to that is if the person has money and Middle class and up!

The father has a typical Chinaman conservative attitude. Seems very unreasonable but typical of the average Chinese father. The only person who can appease him is his wife. Why do think after 2,000 years of civilisation and 150 years of occupation by foreigners the population of China is still over 90% Han Chinese. If Erica wants to remain with Ziheng she has to adapt to the ways of traditional Chinese values. It's up to Ziheng to explain to Erica about filial piety in Chinese family. Then again how serious is the relationship between Ziheng and Erica. It would be interesting to see how much Erica would be prepared to sacrifice just to be with Ziheng. She is 23 but still behaves like a 15 year old. Still an interesting storyline.
