I think Strickland hates influencers because influencing is largely (if not completely) fake. Whereas sparring is pretty much as real as it gets, short of a fight. BTW I'm not onboard with everything Strickland does or says but I agree with him here.

I have zero problem with what Strickland did, education is the key to growth and sneako got educated...A quick KO by Strickland would not have provided the correct lesson so Strickland carried him for 2:00+ minutes and then gave him a 30 second look at what could have happened...It should have been obvious to sneako after the first 10 seconds that he was just unharvested food for Strickland...The sneako's people are the ones who should be questioned for being this stupid...

Sneako was harassing the smaller, less well known, BJJ UFC fighter for awhile (Edit - the champion at his weight class. Nerdy looking guy.). Then Strickland suddenly shot up in status with his unexpected title win followed by a lot of mouthy social media clips. Therefore, Sneako changed targets to try to sponge off of Strickland's fame. Sneako's mistake was he thought Sean was not smart enough to know this. Strickland hates Sneako's type: disingenuous fame seeking with no real respect for what it takes to fight. I think Strickland gave Sneako a message - "Stay in your lane and be careful trying to exploit others." I mean, Sneako did get the attention he wanted. But if Forrest had not stepped in, would it have been worth it?

Influencer learns a lesson about how people that spar daily live life.
@crisiscore93litmus56
@crisiscore93litmus56 6 ай бұрын
Joe Rogan explains this perfectly. The average person has absolutely no idea what it's like to fight. They can't even fathom the vast difference in skill and experience. I've trained for about 8 years in various disciplines and I would never call out a pro. Even someone like me, who really only does it as a hobby and self-defense, can't ever compete with a pro. Those guys are something else. Then you have the champs above the pros. The Gap is just so wide. These influencers see the likes of Jake Paul and KSI and think that fighting is an easy thing to learn. They don't see that those guys actually have put countless hours of their time into training and preparing themselves. I commend Sneako for actually getting in the ring and taking the hits (and not dropping) but give it a rest, man. If he was actually serious, he'd take, at minimum, a year away from social media and train somewhere. He might get an idea of what it's actually like. It's not an easy thing to do. You have to be willing to take the hits and feel the pain. Most people just can't. I've known a lot of people that as soon as they feel their first, full contact punch to the face, they are out. I boxed a golden gloves guy once and he went super easy on me and I still got knocked around pretty hard 😅 the gap is insane

Training is the development of fighting instincts and muscle memory. You spar to both test and fine tune these instincts into a flow state. Your subconscious is the fighter and your conscious ego should be learning to observe your opponent, make adjustments, correct mistakes, and follow a strategy that will take advantage of strengths and weaknesses. The elite fighters also have aggressive personality traits and world class athletic gifts, as well as the conditioning to move at the same speed throughout the whole round.

This is also true of any sport. The elite athletes are so much better than the rest of us. I play tennis fairly well. I’d probably beat 85% of the population in a set. But I couldn’t compete with a bottom college player and that guy couldn’t compete with a semi pro and that guy can’t compete with a true professional. I’m at least 4 layers removed from a pro. And I know better than to “call out” a pro.

@@crisiscore93litmus56 I would put military combatants in the same sort of categorization. I served in special operations support, emphasis on support lol, with a Green Beret battalion. Not once in my nonGreen Beret wearing life would I tell you I served AS one of them. I was a well trained and willing soldier but I never had to be pushed to the limits they were on the daily. They were professionals and I was on the sidelines and used for very light sparring lol. It would be like the difference between picking a bar fight with someone working as a technician or communications vs picking that same fight with an infantryman or marine rifleman. Anyone who trains all the time to fight to their full potential has the advantage over someone who trains now and then. I love mma and martial arts and the military warfare arts but, as Joe Rogan says so often, there’s levels to this. If Sean wanted to be up on charges, he would have really cut loose. He taught the young man a harsh lesson. Humility watches and learns while arrogance asks to do some sparring.

I think the way he ended it discredits the idea of him "humiliating" sneako sneako humiliated himself. Strikland gave him credit for staying on his feet, which if he were really out to "humiliate" him he wouldn't have done he was gracious given the circumstances. If he doesn't destroy him he sends the message that this kind of shit IS possible, and the next sneako might get himself killed. his ass needed to be handed. he did it as instructively as possible. I mean that aggression, that energy to hit with all you’ve got (which of course is really needed when your life is in danger as it relates to self defense) It is one thing to develop that coincides with hitting hard. Men in particular are expected to know how to fight. Very few of them are actually taught this, but to keep up the appearance of toughness, they pretend to know. Of those few who are taught anything, the vast majority learn bad techniques/habits from ignorant or exploitative instructors. Of the small minority who were taught well, only a fraction have dedicated sufficient time for training to actually be effective. And of that fraction, only the tiniest handful of men train hard enough and often enough to have a chance in hell against a professional fighting champion. A man who spends his whole life pretending to be an effective fighter, surrounded by people who enable this belief, simply can’t fathom the skill gap between himself and a guy like Strickland. The only things that can open their eyes to this reality are encounters like the one in this video.

It's clout chasing. It was Seans idea to spar not sneako..sneako wanted an interview on a podcast. Sean hates influencers and wanted to punish him. Even though a mutual friend wanted the meet up. Sean was too lazy to go his research, he'd know they have a lot in common.

As a professional fighter I feel Sean could use force on Sneako but use it more tactfully. Instead of throwing punches like a nut job and not even knocking a keyboard warrior down. If Sean showed he was in command with more precise hard punches. Sean made himself look weak by throwing so many punches and no real effect.

I am a retired professional warrior, having served 20 years in the military, undertaking years worth of combat tours in the time. If Sean Strickland wanted to fight me, I’d say “good to go”, then wrap myself in body armor, arm my primary and secondary weapon kits, and hope I get the drop on him because I know he’d kick the shit out me. Ego doesn’t win fights, training and preparation does, and Sean’s been training most of his life, what was this kid thinking?

It's very simple... when I trained in a dojo...the etiquette was and continues to be... if u tell a black belt that u would like to spar with them then ur saying that ur on the black belts level...so the black belt will act accordingly. If u r not on that level then ur going to get creamed. Ur fault not the black belts. Now...the proper way would be to ask the black belt if he could work with you... now ur saying that ur not on the black belts level and would like some instruction.. Sneako told Strickland he wanted to spare with him... as stated above if he's doing this then he's saying he's on Strickland's level. Strickland owed him no considerations.

Influencing is about rhetoric, words, and without substance without action they are just words, an untested opinion. Therefore to suggest that you can do something because you think you can, not because you have done it, is nonsense. This is a great representation of the difference between perception and reality. Should be more of it.
