When Is Trading Good?

Trading out one player for another is a very common occurrence in TF2, but it isn't always neutral. Whether it be a soldier trading with an enemy medic or a scout trading with a demo, many trades actually favor one team, so let's look at what makes up a trade.

it would be interesting to have more elaboration on trades where you die and don't kill anyone but still accomplish something, like a pyro airblasting an uber, a 1 health scout running into a sticky trap to force the demo to detonate, a spy who saps a bunch of buildings, etc.

Honestly, This is why I often dislike Spies when it Comes to Sixes. They often have limitations with what they can do; especially whenever communication is around, that there's only a solittle of what Spy can do. Even if Let's say Spy can Trade from a Medic who had Uber Ready; now have your Oppetent Team going "OH!, SPY ON CATWALK! SPY ON MID" etc. Sometimes that can still have its own strengths because you are distrubpting the enemy team's planning, but you had to sacrifice your own team with one of them playing spy and getting that success. This feels like an "Ultimate Ability" even if I'm using it by a long stretch.

totally unrelated but i just thought of something, for example your defending last or something and the demo or medic dies can a scout or soldier switch to demo or medic instead of waiting for the respawn and then the demo or medic switches to a different class before they respawn

as i've said and had said to me: if you know you're fucked, then try and go for the trade (course, in my instance, the trade is ramming, which requires physical contact, and isn't guaranteed), and if you kill a higher value target with a lower one, that's always a winning trade.
