Fun fact - something like this almost happened for real in a very extreme way. During the development of Sonic the Hedgehog 2, the Japanese portion of the team almost named one of the levels "Genocide City Zone" because they thought it sounded cool (and had no idea what it actually meant due to their relatively poor grasp of English). Luckily, the American side of the team stepped in and corrected them before things got finalized.

It takes someone whose native language is very different to point out how small errors in pronunciation can completely change the meaning, which could be hilarious, or terribly embarrassing, depending on the situation. Listening to Visual-K and j-rock for the last 20 years I can definitely tell this is accurate. Sometimes I wish bands like the Gazette and Dir En Grey would have someone proficient next to them before recording some of the stuff they’ve put out. I tend to skip those tracks.

1:02 This part is so accurate. I listen a lot of Japanese music and they often pronounse L as R and opposite for some reason. I even recall a vocalist who sang fry instead of fly in a serious song, and it was repeated many times in the chorus. It's also funny when a Japanese composer with no English knowledge tries to add English words because it seems cool. So eventually it sounds like "I can night, let's go kankara" (and I'm not even joking)

It's because L and R are seen as the same in Japanese language.

Unfortunately Asian countries tend to teach the "dark l" sound as all that the 'l' sounds like, so they tend to pronounce all 'l's as in 'pull' or 'curl'. Weirdly enough loanwords with 'l' sounds are "correctly" rendered with something in the 'ra ri ru re ro' sequence, but when they try to speak actual English they can mess up the 'l's. This happens with Chinese English learners also
